From research I did on the internet I found out that this is in fact totally untrue.

oh so research on the internet means that finding your little sister lying in a cot with her face blue, with the cat over the top of it is untrue is it?

sheesh, this internet thingymubbob has got a lot to answer for hasnt it.

just because something is 'unreported' does that mean it doesnt happen?

its just one of those tragic urban myth accidents......

ah well, its just a myth... no problem, anmals in the bedroom peeps... no worries, the web says its ok!

I hate the cats being on my bed. Just think they go outside/use the cat tray and bury their crap, then walk all over your sheets....not a nice thought! I always keep bedroom doors closed to keep them out, although my son has a habit of encouraging the cats to sleep in his room.

I think a pet is part of the family as long as you know they are clean i can see no problem in allowing your pet to sleep on the bottom of the bed, after all you take them into your house in the day why put them out at night ,and before you say if they are not in the house during the day they are not pets, they deserve a little love and attention and you will always find that a pet is your best friend not like some people.
I have a Jack Russel and wouldnt think about putting him out ,he's my best friend.

Midlandstaurus - I quite agree with you, walking in the dirt and then all over the bedsheets....ewwwwww.

Just plain nasty....

No I don't have a pet, but a friend many years ago had rottweilers and long haired german shepherd dogs, lovely animals.... but sunday lunch with their hairs, washed and pressed into and all over the "clean tablecloth" .... put me off having animals in the house...

I do like animals, don't get me wrong..... just not in my house.

Been there done that..paid the bloody price lol

Being the owner of two cats and two dogs, i stupidly let the cats sleep on my bed. One day whilst looking in the mirror at my back (which had a 'mole' that had been irritating me for some time), i was absolutely horrified to find-not a mole- but a creature the size of a mole with its head buried in my back and its little legs wriggling about. After tripple checking with my friend that i wasnt hallucinating, i shot down the docs to have the little shit frozen off. It took them 2 weeks to come back with the results.
It was a 'tick' that my darling cats had brought me from the garden and obviously had left for me in my bed. It had latched on to me and from the looks and colour of it-been there quite some time, merrily guzzling my blood.

NEVER EVER again will my cats share my bed!

I've got 2 kittens and they are my babies and sleep where they want, which is usually on the pillow next to me or on my daughters bed. I can't imagine shutting them out and their white fur doesn't show up on my white bedding.

My animals are cleaner then some people i have met so have no problem with it at all. All my dogs have been groomed and washed regular... Although when i had a large dog he was in my room but in his own bed.

My border collie has a bed by the side of my bed. When I go to bed, she wouldn't get on my bed, even if invited. But at some point in the night she gets up onto my bed. I have a frequently washed bed cover for this reason. To be honest, I like waking up and finding her there. She doesn't have that 'doggy' smell and she is a sound sleeper and doesn't disturb me.
My last boyfriend had a dog of his own. We made the two dogs sleep downstairs. In the morning, they would both be waiting patiently outside the bedroom door - just waiting for the signal to come in. Chaos!

I've got 5 cats and they sleep where they want. It's their home too and that's that.
If I didn't want this and that associated with having pets. Then I wouldn't have got a pet in the first place.

A cousin of mine used to let her dog sleep on her bed with her and I thought it ws horrible UNTIL i got my own dog when she was just a little pup. She had a basket but wouldnt go near it and she was just like a little baby so she was allowed to sleep at the bottom of my bed. Over the years she has made her way into my bed and its not the first time ive woken up with her head on the next pillow

I know it isnt hygenic but my bed is changed regularly and she is bathed regularly so its not too bad. She also sleeps on my kids beds too and hates being left in the livingroom on her own. Like someone said about their pet, they are part of the family and i would never dream of leaving her outside in the cold.

New Man has a dog, a totally gorgeous, utterly flirtatious, incredibly spoiled GSD called Tango. (Who was it on here that got his profile deleted?)

He sleeps in the bedroom, though not on the bed...but he will try if PP leaves the room...it is actually quite funny watching him do it- as if you are not going to notice him!

He wakes us up by licking our faces- he does it to me in the night too if he just wants attention...

No, it is not hygienic- but he is so gorgeous and has such charm that he is utterly irresistible. (Not even sure if the last sentence is about PP or Tango!)

My cats are banned from the bedroom, though every so often I catch them in there snuggled up on my pillow, bed clothes get changed at that point, but I have a Yorkshire Terrier dog too, he sleeps with me all the time, in fact he knows when I say 'bed!' he positions himself to be picked up and carried up the stairs (my stairs are a death trap being really steep and bare wood, so he cant climb).
So he sleeps with me, but the past few nights he's kept me awake so last night he slept downstairs, and still managed to wake me up.

If I have a fella stay over, the dog sleeps downstairs and he knows it.

I have done some looking as well and watch a program on tv a few years ago and it's untrue about cats killing babies. I had a cat when my daughter was a baby and he insited on babysitting . He stayed by her side ans if she wiggled , in anyway he come and get me. Bug me until I went and checked my daughter. Yes he sleep at her feet. I grew up with my pets with me. Pets do need to be groomed. Flea tretments. wormed. Gee I wash my bedding evey week. They all have their place . on my bed ,beside my bed. I want my pets to protect me. So they are inside at night. In the summer They have a window. Not all pets are raised outside. Depends on why you have a pet . My cats take care of rodents and My big loveable dog protects me while I sleep. Everyone has a thought on this. I feel people whom don't own pets don't see them as us pet owners. Just because a person is allergic doesn't mean pets are a bad thing gee wiz.

I've had them critters on my leg from being out in the bush. Leches from lake water is gross as well. It's all nature. Certin trees as well. have ticks. I keep my animals treted with flea and tick monthly. year round. A hot pin on it and it will back it;s way out. yup I know that sounds yucky .Living in the country you learn there things. My dad ues to give the animals a little pinch of tabbaco on thrie food. gets rid of worms. Tea tree oil spray is also heplful.

grew up with dogs, parent used to have a dalmatian who was not allowed to go onto beds, but it was so cheeky and liked to sneak onto my bed under the duvet and gave me a dead leg in the morning. ... sigh... cheeky dog

now i m a cat person, used to have a cat who liked to sleep under my bed rather than on it, and started to purrrr, it was liked having a helicopter under my bed. so cute.

We've got a couple of small dogs (one whose fur gets everywhere) and they're allowed to do as they please and are occasionally allowed on the bed. At night they sleep under my parents bed on a nice sheet.

To shame on you for putting your dogs outside in kennels! Especially in the winter!

I tend to think sleeping with animals is wrong on every level. Its abuse, immoral and possibly illegal. I'm open minded as regards most things , but I have to draw the line at bedroom fun with a dumb animal. [i could be accused of hypocrisy if you'd had the misfortune to know my ex-wife] possibly a little harsh but never the less she was an animal in bed and dumb out of it. In retrospect, why did I get rid of her ? She sounds ideal !

the cat could snuggle over your face

Disregard the first two sentences as Ive changed my opinion....

I like nothing better than a pu*sy sat on my face.....

I'm a sick puppy, does anybody know a good vet ?
