... One thing (I'll) never understand, why a women (sic) will stay or even go back to an abusive relationship...
Perpetual victim syndrome.
You know how when you go to a strip club the dancers have different costumes and roles?
The dominatrix, the cowgirl, the naughty teacher, the nympho nurse etc.
Same goes for everyday life. There are those who lack the charm or charisma to add anything in a social setting but crave the attention that a good sob story nets them, so they deliberately seek out destructive relationships so they can whine about it to their "enabler" friends. Simply put, that is their "role"
They go from abusive relationship to abusive relationship because the formula works for them. The sad part is they drag everyone around them down with them, and often subject their children to the same abuse all to fullfill their own parasitic whims. | |

Posted: 8/10/2009 4:24:16 AM | Sadly many women who stay in abusive situations fear that if they try to leave the abuser will find them and kill them. Just watch the news... that happens all the time. Many are so mentally beaten down that they either think they are so worthless that no one else would want them or that they even may be deserving of the abuse. I have a friend who has been in such a situation for many years and says she has no where else to go, even though many times I have offered a place to stay and help to get on her feet. I know one day my phone will ring with the news that either he killed her or visa versa.
In my situation my spouse was never abusive before he became ill, with stage 4 cirrhosis of the livcr he developed swelling and inflammation of the brain due to toxin build up in his blood and would have hallucinations and violent outbursts which led to a confrontation with his family where he either be hospitalized or they take him because I could no longer live not knowing what might be next.. I know that sounds bad but he was still drinking which in addition to the illness only intensified the problem . I can't and won't tolerate abuse under any circumstance... | |

privacy, house stays cleaner, date whoever I want, nobody bothering me with 'shoulds' and dumping their agenda on me, the excitement of dating someone new, independence, cornflakes for dinner or pizza for breakfast, listening to loud music...in general the freedom to do whatever the hell I want to do. | |
