| Church pays through the nose for its bigotry Posted: 5/9/2008 9:57:09 AM | | I grew up in the Baptist church because my mom plays the piano, so I didn't have a whole lot of choice in the matter. The one thing I did learn that will stick with me for the rest of my life is that the Christian religion is based on love, tolerance, and forgiveness. These kind of people make me want to vomit. They are hypocrites, and God has a special place in hell for them. Why weren't they out at black man's funeral shouting "!" It's the same thing. Bigotry is bigotry, and my God doesn't allow this. I can forgive pretty much anything from my fellow man, but this type of BS doesn't go over real well with me. If I had been there, I would have slap the sh*t out of someone. I know some gay guys, and women for that matter, that I would rather have back me up in a fight than a lot of straight people I know. | |

Live and let live. We're all free to disagree or even disapprove , that doesn't mean we need to re-mould everyone into our own personal ideals.

| Church pays through the nose for its bigotry Posted: 5/10/2008 12:27:02 AM | "The church's founder, Rev. Fred Phelps, and his daughters Shirley Phelps-Roper and Rebekah Phelps-Davis were named in the suit and found liable for invasion of privacy and intent to inflict emotional distress.
To compensate Snyder, the jury awarded him $2.9 million in damages and added another $8 million in punitive damages."
I am glad the family of this soldier were able to gain a civil remedy for these obscene actions. If I were a legislator, I would also move to make such activities ones that attract criminal liabilities as well, including hefty fines and jail terms for those who organise, encourage, and participate in such actions.
