I know that some of my Jamaican relatives write how they speak, for example they write lickle instead of little because that is how they speak. You buy Jamaican papers such as The Gleaner and that is how it is written out. Why? They speak English same as everybody else, there is no such language as Jamaican! Those people are intillectual people with 1st class degrees but they write like that. It's a common thing so i don't understand why everyone is picking up on it? It doesn't mean she's stupid it just means she writes how she speaks. I can't believe people would drop in to this thread just to say that! Why would you come here just to have a go at someone, does it make you all feel good?!

Secondly I went to school with several jamaicans and the funny thing was they were taught to read and write in the exact same way us honkies were believe it or believe it not
But the allegedly "jamaican" way of speaking is also used by white people who ARE either semi illiterate OR who are just lazy typers/writers as well as people who text more than they talk
But irrespective of the reason and also irrespective of someones skin colour that doesnt give them a god given right to write in a lazy manner and not have people dislike it, they only have the right to do it, nothing more
Infact if you check the thread about pet peeves on profiles you will see that the lazy typing or "txt spk" is one of the more common things that gets on peoples tits which also doesnt mean anyone should not do it just because of that either | |

But, two brothers had moved from jamaica during the second year at school when their dad got a job in the UK
The others I couldnt really say where they were born, but they were still jamaican nonetheless, its sort of easy to spot you see
. so yup, even with your totally eroneous benchmark I DID go to school with "jamaicans" and as I said they were taught the exact same version of english as the rest of the class were

What they did before is irrelevant, what I said was they were when in this country taught the exact same english as everyone else, if they CHOSE to write some spastic version of it outside of school thats a choice nothing more and doesnt alter the version they WERE taught when at school

I have no idea where anyone got the idea that most women view pregnancy as a money making opportunity, but you'll never convince me that it's true. CS payments are not disposable income to parents, and if you've ever had to really support a child, you'd know that. Perhaps those of you who have had such experiences simply need to choose your mates more carefully. | |

I htink it is her decision on how she handles the situation. There are many people out there raising kids on their own. I think the father has the right to know if he has a child in the world and he should step to the plate and help raise it or at least support his creation. After all it does take two to make a baby. He doesn't have to be involved in raising the child if he is not ready or chooses not to but he should be held accountable financially to help provide for it.
