| Angefish help Posted: 11/18/2007 2:49:05 PM | I saw a couple of post that I might be able to help with. The lady that needs the front brakes fixed on her car - has that be completed? If it hasn't are the front brakes disc brakes? If they are do they pulsate at that brake pedal during stopping(warp rotors)? You might also run your fingernail radially acrossed the rotors(shiny metal disc located underneath the wheel rim). Hopefully it will be smooth(no grooves). If the brakes aren't pulsating and the rotor isn't grooved, I can fix the brakes. If rotor is not damaged and you want to bring your car to Cincy, I can do it pretty quickly.
The lady that needs replace the "thermocoupler" - did you mean thermostat or did you mean thermocouple? Both would be easy to fix, but which one are you talking about? What are the issues that lead you to believe this work most be done?
On the brake light issue, when did they stop working and are the brake lights the only electrical problem the car has?

| Angefish help - Car Guy, Computer Guy Posted: 11/25/2007 3:45:40 AM | I saw a couple of postings on here for people that were looking for help with car issues in the Dayton area. Personally, computers are more my forte, but I take my car to a guy in the dayton area that works out of his house. He is awesome! He used to work for a car dealership as a mechanic (he is a certified auto mechanic with diagnostic tools and computers), but decided to quit and stay at home with his kids, while his wife goes off to work. Anyway, he recently did all four of my brakes and only charged $20 per wheel + parts. That is cheap! And he does good work. I don't think I am allowed to post his phone number on this forum but if you email me, I will give you the details.
I can offer computer help if anyone needs it. I know places like best buy charge and arm and leg to do simple things like virus removal, data restoration, or setting up a wireless network. I work with computers professionally and would be glad to lend a helping hand to someone who really needs it. Plus, like any good computer geek, I always have a few spare parts laying around. :) (I know most people don't know what all of this is, but I am A+, Network+, Security+, and MCSE certified) basically it means I am a computer geek. :)

| Angefish help Posted: 11/25/2007 3:54:12 AM | Countrytat, I have a computer desk and chair that you can have. I also have some other furniture that I may be getting rid of soon. The only problem is, I don't have a pickup truck or way to get stuff from point A to point B.
I may be moving soon, and I have a lot of stuff that I need to get rid of. The computer chairs are nice. The computer desks are that cheap sauder stuff, but I will give away for free to a good home.

Does the power light or any of the control lights come on(if they do come on its probably something serious, if they don't come on it could be a fuse, a power cord pulled from the connecting jack inside the TV, or the TV's power supply)? If its only been a year you should checked the manufacturer's warranty first.

anyone into repairing or replacing pvc? my laundry roon is being leaked on by my bathroom. HELP Is it a supply line or a drain line that is leaking? Is the leak behind a wall or flooring? PVC is really easy to work with. For drain lines I would remove the leaky parts and take them to Lowes or Home Depot. Either will help you replace what needs to be replaced(even cut & glue materials together). After your visit you should be able to reassemble it with a pair of channel locks.

Unplug it, remove the plastic back cover, usually a bunch of phillip's head screws, look where the power cord attaches to TV. Sometimes there is a fuse(1" long glass tube with metal rings at both ends). Check that both power wires(lamp cord that goes from the wall outlet to the TV) are connected to terminals. If there is a fuse, remove it with a pair of pliers and take it to Radio Shack. Replace it. It should cost less than a dollar. This is the end of the real simple stuff. The power supply isn't that difficult to replace, but you will need a DVM(digital volt meter or multi meter to check it first) and checks need to done with power on.

| Angefish help Posted: 11/25/2007 7:02:41 AM | | Can anyone help with a software problem....I am using Roxio trying to burn a dvd that I made for my son's football team, but it won't burn. Could it be not enough memory on the computer? Would it help to try a dvd burner. How can I get it somewhere to get it to burn? I needed this a month ago and I am running out of time and PATIENCE | |
|
| Angefish help Posted: 11/25/2007 7:28:16 AM | | Google Shrink it. Its a great free program for burning a DVD. | |

You should also check the power cord for cracks or chew marks(I had a lab puppy that loved to chew on power cords).

| Angefish help Posted: 11/25/2007 7:31:17 AM | Quietcowboy I found the fuse I will replace it. I will let you know if that is the problem. Thank you | |
|
| Angefish help Posted: 11/25/2007 7:53:56 AM | | does the Shrink it work for homemade dvds too? I read about it but am still confused | |
|
| Angefish help Posted: 11/25/2007 8:06:28 AM | | Yes shrink it will. Your concern about insufficient memory might be on target too! Unless you have a two DVD players in your computer, the software will first make a copy and put it on your hard drive. Have you deframented your hard drive in awhile? You will need about 3 gig of storage space on your hard drive to copy it. After you make the copy go ahead and delete the DVD file off of your Hard Drive. | |
