| How tolerant are you? Posted: 9/27/2009 11:33:36 AM | My tolerance levels vary depending on the situation/person/inanimate object.
Sometimes I can tolerate vast amounts and others I'm just a ticking time bomb

I used to be as tolerant as a small town loisiana sheriff on a badhair day but these days i'm a lot more liberal, everybody gets three chances before the can of whup-ass gets opened.

| How tolerant are you? Posted: 9/27/2009 4:16:42 PM | Someone gets a parking ticket, so they spend the rest of the day in a bad mood, whilst I spend the rest of the day laughing at them and telling traffic warden jokes. Then they walk out of the room in a huff. Damn intolerant fools!

Stupid people Smelly people Old people Small children Lame people Nerdy people Really fat people Really skinny people
They all do my head in. | |

| How tolerant are you? Posted: 9/28/2009 3:37:53 AM | I tend to be more of a relaxed person and tolerance i think is either part of your personality or it isnt we cant teach ourselves to be more tolerant, unless something affects me directly i can be very easy going and shrug stuff off, if it hurts me or my family or friends then im a hell of a lot less tolerant i suppose.
Ignorance, bad manners, someone being patronising ill usually just think "wow youre not my sort of person at all" and just walk away not really intolerant of people because they are skinny or fat or old though?

| How tolerant are you? Posted: 9/28/2009 4:05:04 AM | At work I can be pretty strict and expect a bit too much from project outputs, but with people, ones I care about, its a totally different kettle of fish.
I've realised that I haven't got "doormat" stamped on my head, I'm just too tolerant... I encourage people to think taking me for granted is ok by being too tolerant in the first place.
I have started having higher expectations and wanting more consistency from people in my life, to imagine its too much for them is doing them a disservice anyway. It helps them understand what I need from them, which I'm sure they prefer to me somewhere down the line starting to resent what I'd not complained about earlier!
There is a balance between give and take, being kind, and being spineless! Its ok to let people lean on you, as long as they know they are doing and it's not all one way all the time.
Also, I think another reason I've been like that is to avoid confrontation, but all it does is create a pressure cooker, turning one day's mole hill into a build up of mole hills over many days until they're a mountain or even an earthquake waiting to explode in some people's cases!
In situations where its better to let it go like water off a duck's back, I usually can. People at work have asked me before how I put up with a certain colleague's rudeness towards me, but I really don't care. Sometimes I get a bit irritated, but I cover it well. Sometimes I find it funny, as no one is under any confusion as to who is acting professionally and who is not.
My ex used to find it frustrating to the point of hysteria when I stopped letting his ranting get to me and just answered in as few a words as possible as calmly as still water.

| How tolerant are you? Posted: 9/28/2009 5:23:03 AM | Hmmm maybe our level of tolerance can't be measured by ourselves, maybe it needs to be measured by those around us, I know a few intolerant people in RL who would answer this thread with a 'yes I'm very tolerant'. Tolerance levels is all subjective isn't it.
I'm told I'm extremely calm and tolerant, and yet I know I'll stand my ground with things that matter to me even if that makes me 'intolerant'. Maybe that comes with age.

| How tolerant are you? Posted: 9/28/2009 1:46:43 PM | My tolerance levels reduced to boiling point at the weekend after three months. My seventeen year old son and my 31 year old (still very immaturely child minded) brother living under the same roof is a horrible combination! Neither one of them will own up to mess or destruction. They get annoyed if they have to clean up behind one another and hence they don't so after long shifts away from home they kindly leave it to me along with cleaning, cooking, gardening, DIY and mending broken things. If I could swear about them in a whole sentence right now I would. By god us women are not half paying for this independent lifestyle!
Rant over for now but seeing as it took me three months am scoring myself as a ten!

You should stop cleaning up after your 2 sons.
If they make a mess just leave it even if your house soon resembles the local dump,
They will soon realise they don't like living in filth and start to clean up their own mess
Go on strike!
As for how tolerant am I?
I used to be very but things like bad manners make my blood boil and will make me react.
I might have bitten my tongue before and not said anything but not anymore!

| How tolerant are you? Posted: 9/29/2009 2:46:17 AM | | One is my son the other one my free loading brother. They don't mind living in filth at all. I tried leaving it and leaving it but it bothers me! I am not mad on housework and cleaning but I can't live in filth. | |

I'm one of those people who can put up with a lot until you get me on a bad day - and then I blow! There are some who seem to have endless tolereance levels and will take all the crAp that's thrown at them but at the other end of the scale there are those who tolerate little. I would put myself on a scale 0f 1-10 at about 8. How easy going are you and what figure would you rate yourself?
I would say I am between a 9 and a 10...
I think it's all down to anger, there are two types of angry people as I'm sure you know.
The first type of angry person stands in the supermarket at the checkout screaming and shouting at the cashier because she won't take the coupons, the second type of angry person would be the cashier, she sit there quietly day after day taking all the crap that people give but one day she will snap, pick up a machine gun and kill everybody in the place...
