| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/2/2009 5:19:33 PM | Jim: How neat that you met someone after so many years. Glad it went well and you had a nice time.
Oledog and Isabelle: Sounds like you had a good day, too. How could you not? You were in great company.
I had a nice afternoon...just goofing off with Fluke. Always makes me smile. We went to the flea market and listened to some karaoke, then we went by Boondocks to shoot some pool...but the pool tables were all busy. Still enjoyed a beer...wasn't the same without the gang there.

Hope you had a good day. Let me know.
I wish you HAD been there! Had a GREAT time.......what I just LOVE about Anna Maria is it really is a 'throw back' to the Florida of yester-year!!! There are still so MANY original buildings, original architecture and 'lack' of high-rises and condos!! MOST of the dining establishments are SO close to the water you can almost dip your toes in while you are sipping on your first COOL drink while waiting for your little 'sizzzling platter of Shrimp Anna"!!!!
Yesterday was one of those days in Florida where it ALMOST was TOO hot to enjoy yourself!!! SO - NEVER one to NOT turn a 'hot day into a Pina Colada'
SPENT more time 'club hopping' for tropical drinks then we did 'beach walking'!!!!
SMILED from each club-to-club!!!!

| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/2/2009 6:12:43 PM | I had a great day today also. My son and I spent it with some friends and had a great lunch. We didn't get home till 7:30 tonight. Isabelle, I am sorry that we couldn't make it but we had so much to do and so little time to do it all. I will be taking Richie to the airport at 6:00 in the morning. I am sure going to miss him. I just hope that it is not another 4 years before I see him again...

Haven't seen her since my mom passed away 6 years ago. Met a great-niece, 1 yr old, and a great-nephew, 2 yrs old, for the first time tonight.
Overall ... a damn good day!

| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/3/2009 8:00:04 PM | what made me smile today?? i sent three cat carriers with three cats in them to be spayed/neutered (neighborhood strays.......i'm trying to curb the kitten explosion in my neighborhood) and when i picked them up.......i had an extra cat!! seems that when i captured one, i had actually gotten TWO in one crate......... thankfully the wonderful people at the C.A.R.E. program (catch and release for feral cats in orange county where i live) went ahead and "fixed" her too......... even though the limit is three cats at a time.........
knowing that i am helping to break the cycle of unwanted kittens makes me SMILE ! i still have about 6 more to catch in my neighbor hood......especially three males that have wreaked havoc and produced countless kittens..... i call them "sneaky", "slinky" and "big mac daddy" (you have no idea HOW Many little orange kittens HE has produced)......i'll be catching them next........... now that will really make me smile!!
happy fishing y'all.............. and think pleasant thoughts.....Wolfie

| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/3/2009 8:32:37 PM | Wolfie: What a cool thing for you to do. I had never heard of the C.A.R.E. program before, sounds awesome. I'll have to look it up and see if something like that is in the area Fluke (his name is Don, Wolfie) lives in. Lots of feral cats out here in North Lakeland.
What made me smile today? Talking to my 3 year old granddaughter on the phone. Dang, I miss her...got to get to Sarasota soon.
Lots of things actually made me smile today...a nice rainstorm, complete with thunder and lightning, watching the NASCAR race that was rained out yesterday, teasing Fluke about how much his cat loves him, still being the dart champion between the two of us, eating some awesome bacon cheeseburgers.
Heck...I almost forgot about bills and car troubles and, and...
EDIT: Happy Birthday to all the brothers.

Memories of my youth on my grandparents farm in Kentucky
Don't you feel BLESSED to have been fortunate enough to have had a childhood that INCLUDES such memories??? THANKS for posting that!! It made me SMILE about something I had not thought about in YEARS!!!
Although I was born and raised in Sarasota, I had an aunt who had a BIG farm house in upstate New York - the kind with the BIG fire place in the kitchen that you could walk through - and a big rocking chair - and cows and chickens and home made bread and warm hugs and puppy dog kisses!!!!............OH............and my 'first kiss' from a 'boy' called Robin who taught me how to shoot a gun!!!!!.............(I think Robin MAY have been a 'kissin cuzzin')!!!!
BIG SMILE!!!! | |

| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/4/2009 8:18:37 AM | | Leslie my friend..... I am Happy I could make you smile with memories from my youth. I always had such a great time there in KY. Picking Blackberries for cobblers, feeding cows, chasing pigs. Good stuff there! | |

| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/5/2009 7:38:27 PM | Leslie...the upcoming hoedown party just might have some pigs, come chase some. It would be awesome to have you show up. Think about it and don't be too scared...remember, we are all kinfolk.
What made me smile today??? Just had a good day. Fluke and I went and shot some pool, threw some darts, drank a few beers and listened to some karaoke. I'm going to get him up there to sing one day...I have heard him and he has a really good voice.

Naughti.....I think we need to get HALLIE and GLASSLIPPER to the hoedown...I know that would make THEM smile too!!!
Sandy, I'll SECOND that!!! (although I suspect that Naughty meant 'glass slipper' in her post........she knows I'm not SCARED of 'nuttin'!!!! ......well...........maybe just 'kissen cuzzins'!!!
We probably SHOULD be a bit more 'diplomatic' about WHO we call PIGS however! I was doing a bit of that 'chasin' myself and they weren't NO pigs!!!!

| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/5/2009 8:05:10 PM | Yes what Hallie said....Rich started it!! ^^^^^^^
LESLIE.......everyone should experience a good hoedown at least once in their lifetime!!!
Hey......I think we are on the wrong thread for the hoedown...but it will make you smile, laugh and cry all at the same time...cause you will be laughing so hard!! LMAO
|
| What made you smile today? Posted: 8/5/2009 8:13:18 PM | I'm STILL smiling about Naughty's comment about what a HOEDOWN is!!!!
............a Hooker who has fallen down.............
I can just hear it now:
"Clean up on Hay Bale #4 - HOE DOWN"!!!!!!!!!
HALLIE: OMG - this Hillbilly rhetoric is CONTAGIOUS!!! NOW you are doin it!!!
I have to say that, Hillbillys ASIDE, the fun, the friendliness, the humor, etc. ARE contagious! You BOTH (Hallie & Denise) SHOULD think about making a visit to the POUND!!!
P.S. Hallie, I guess they TURN into PIGS when you actually 'catch' them and they SQUEAL or slip away??????
