| My Observations on Online dating Posted: 11/14/2007 7:44:05 AM | Op.. if your looking for a women I think one of the worst things you can do is come on with a negative attitude claiming to know what women want. Forums is where we meet a lot of our friends and dates but usually the ones who pick our spirits up and have a positive attitude, Me I'm only looking to widen my horizons as well, some one with a heart, who wants to be loved and give the same in return. | |

| My Observations on Online dating Posted: 11/14/2007 7:45:16 AM | IMO this thread is... more or less... crap.
To borrow a concept from UltimateHeartSurgeon:
OP, a man can get a girlfriend, get laid, or get a wife anytime he wants... just the same as a woman can.
You just don't want them.
They're either too fat, too ugly, too dumb, too short, too tall, too broke, too b*tchy... etc. etc. etc.
The dating/mating game, amongst other things, is an eliteist enterprise. The top 20% of the attractiveness pool see 80% of the action. Male or Female.
It's nothing personal.
If you're not in that top 20%, you have 4 choices. (Listed in order of popularity)
1) Whine. And stay single. Personally, I don't see being single as a bad thing.... although being on a single's site, that is likely the minority opinion.
2) Lower your standards. If you're not in that top 20%, and you can't stand to be rejected, you're going to have to stop fishing in the 80% of the pool that is holding out for someone in the top 20%.
3) Learn to deal with rejection, So that you can approach more often, and turn the power of numbers and odds in your favor to find yourself a more attractive mate.
4) Make yourself more attractive. Move yourself up the ladder. Obviously the least popular option... as it requires looking at oneself critically and objectively in the mirror. And lots of hard work, which they aren't being forced by a boss, teacher, or deadline to do. Most are not interested in either.
But I have nothing but admiration and respect for those who do.

LOL - if that were true, then I (and most other men) would not be on this site right now!
They're either too fat, too ugly, too dumb, too short, too tall, too broke, too b*tchy... etc. etc. etc.
You couldn't be more incorrect. I completely threw my standards out the window years ago. Standards are only a hindrance.
The top 20% of the attractiveness pool see 80% of the action.
Yes, this is where the "dating vacuum" phenomenon takes root!
I've done all but step 4 in your list. I will do step 4 as soon as I have the time and money (hopefully soon:) to pay the surgeon - lol.

Wow bitter much are you?
i could see where this and other 'bitter' comments in this thread would be extracted from the op's words...but it is the truth for the op. most times the truth isnt very nice either.
it's also fascinating that something else was missed by the op's comments...totally missed by other posters....
his humility... | |

Are any of us perfect , "F### no"...Some of us do try to give an honest assessment of ourselves even if we might be a little off kilter....heehheheheeheh

| My Observations on Online dating Posted: 11/14/2007 9:35:45 AM | The concept of honesty of POF has more degrees than a thermometer
Kelvin scale
Without mystery and the ability to warp the truth around reality , most of us
feel the mundane effects of being responsible and want none of that in another
yet we want character ...which is only built by being responsible
Good doesn't have to mean boring and bad thrilling
thats only true for those that haven't figured out how to experience their limits
without ruining their soul in the process
and it isnt black or white , all or none , this is the major grey area for all of us
we polish our skills and hope others notice the shine
and we find the one
somewhere.. | |
