Says the woman who has "one" blurry picture up. Yes indeed people who send and use fake photos are insecure people.

You can't gain without risk. So not everybody is as honest as they should be. Keep looking, you'll find someone. I'm still looking, and still quite certain I'm going to find someone just right for me :)

tell him to write a specific number on a piece of paper and hold it up and send that pic to you. Anyone with a cell phone can do it, There are no excuses for no photos these days.
If he can't do I would not waste any more time on him., he is hiding something.

If he's super good-looking, yet writes perfectly, it's a fake picture. Or a ghost writer.

Only guarantee is if their photo in the Post Office "Most Wanted List" is more current than their 15 year old picture in POF. Unfortunately, unless one posts their baby picture, or college photo, there are no guarantees. Some people look better in their photos while others look better in person. Go figure.

How do you know when a POF member posts a fake pic?

I was IMing with a POF user who seemed a lil self-concious about his pic. The pic was with his shirt off muscles bulging... Not something most guys are ashamed of. Then he introduces me to a friend of his who is also on POF. Only this guys pic is not nearly as hot. They both add me to their favorites and I see they log in within minutes of each other every day. I asked guy number one if the pic was really him and he said yes. I asked guy number two if he and guy number one were actually the same person, of course he said no. Then another day I asked guy number one if he were the same person as guy number two and he said it was the third time I had asked if the pic were fake. Actually, it was only the second time I asked guy number one. Three times if guy one and two are the same person. I'm not superficial about pics, I just don't like the idea of being blatently deceived. Has this happend to anyone else? Any suggestions as to how to spot a fake?

I've met a number of women online from several different sites and have become pretty keen at spotting fake pics, because I've received a number of them. There's no 100% foolproof way to tell with certainty that a posted pic is fake, but there's several reds flags to look for. Some people are stupid enough to post pics of well known Internet models that are all over the Internet. I've busted several women who've sent me pics of Brooke Burke and other well known Internet and TV personalities. It's amazing how many people will try and insult your intelligence only to have it backfire in their face. One thing is for absolute certain if someone posts a pic of an ugly person then you can bet it's them! lol Naturally the pics you have to be leery of are the professional model pics. They're all over the Internet! If someone has only one professional air brushed pic posted of an incredibly gorgeous person it's most likely a stolen photo because if it was actually the person who posted it they would have several more on their profile. Usually when someone posts a fake pic they can only find 1 or 2 of that particular person. If someone does have a professional model pic posted and they're really a model they should have plenty of pics. Request more pics and if they say they don't have anymore then the pic they posted is probably not them and it's best to move on. Models have lots of pics. If someone posts a professional pic ask to see a non professional pic. If they claim they don't have a non professional pic that's another red flag.

If someone posts a hot pic and never wants to have a phone conversation after chatting online for a week or more then their pic is probably fake. If someone is serious about getting to know someone with the thought of possibly meeting eventually they'll want to take it to the phone. Women who post fake pics usually never want to talk over the phone because they know you'll suggest a meeting and fake posters don't have any intention of actually meeting anyone. They just want to play cyber games and have you believe they're incredibly gorgeous when in reality they're probably fat and ugly. There's alot of deception online and there's alot of lonely people who live their lives through other peoples pictures. It's sad! I've seen women post pics that I've seen on several other profiles. Anyone can steal someones pics and use them to create their own profile. Some people live in a fantasy world and have serious issues. You just have to look for the warning signs.

Takes all kinds. There are lots who are deceptive about most of their profile info - IF they even fill out that info! (I am talking both men and women btw - neither of us has the monopoly on bs!) ..
Apparently if someone Steals a pic and uses it as their own, the pic is generally quite blurred/grainy - Not clear. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure George Clooney isn't IM'ing me! lol
The bottom line (for me) is the "Deception" - I don't really care what a person looks like, so long as they're clean, and comfortable in their own skin.
I DO care about honesty. If someone sets out to deceive, then I appreciate finding out soon and then I can move on and cut my losses.
Players don't get second chances to play me. That's what "block parties" are for ;)

Usually when they are 10 times as sexy as any guy you have ever seen in your day to day life. I have seen some pro's of both men and woman and they are usually all......

1. In there 20's, with perfectly shaped bodies (usually showed of by tiny beach wear)
2. On the beach somewhere or dripping wet because of whatever reason.
3. Posing for the camera (men: hard stares at the lense, woman: sedutive eyes with pouts).
4. They are also nearly always looking for an 'intimate encounter' OR 'other relationship'

But the most obvious way of noticing fake pics is when they actually do look professional and to cover that fact up the person behind the pro puts..... actor or model in the profession box.

There is nothing wrong with posting older photos if you also post recent ones. It should be obvious. Each of us carries around a mental picture of what we used to look like, and it's nice to see what people used to look like too.

The only negative with posting an older photo of yourself along with a recent one is someone may say if you looked like you use to I would have been interested!

I have some experience with this. I was alone for seven years before I decided to begin meeting men online. I was not experienced with meeting men in any way or form. On line dating seemed attractive at the time because of the built in safety factors as well as having quite a few options of meeting people. It was a paid site, many men viewed me and many made inquiries. There was one who caught my eye, I really liked him and enjoyed writing to him for a couple of months before we met. He had alot of pictures posted of himself, his classic cars, and other interests. When we met, I could see he was much older than what his profile said and his photos by quite a few years. On his profile, he claimed to be 54 but was actually in his 70's. He explained that no one would look at his profile if he put down his real age. Silly me, I accepted his explanation and let it go. The reason I did is that I had established a cyber relationship with him and there was already an emotional connection on my part that I didn't want to let go. A hard lesson learned by me. We did go into a very happy romantic relationship that lasted nearly two years not counting the time we corresponded. Little inconsistancies began presenting themselves and I accidently caught him in a big lie. When I did, he broke off with me. It seems from the beginning there were many deceptions, lies and manipulations which he admitted to. Some of them deal breakers in a relationship, others silly fibs. It turned out that he was a very experienced habitual liar who admitted he had a problem and had lost other relationships because of it. The point is that someone who will lie and create a false profile to attract someone (supreme manipulation) will also carry on that behavior is other aspects of their lives. It was a very hard lesson. Because I accepted the first lie I opened the door to future lies, deceptions, and manipulations. Oh, well, what is two years of my life? I will survive but am a little smarter and more responsible for myself. Ode to the Old Geezer, lol. I am starting to be able to laugh about it now.

If it looks like a picture from a magazine, I assume it's fake.

If his shirt is off and he's ripped and better looking than a celebrity, I assume he's either fake or looking for "play".

It might be discriminatory, but if he's too good looking, I'm suspicious.

I just posted about this subject. Read it quick before the moderators take the post off. I am sure they will find something offensive (they do about most things that rock POF's boat).

Not just my thought regarding the way moderators act. Goodgle this site and you will see a lot of people say the same thing about profiles being eliminated or posts on the forums being eliminating.

I just saw a woman you mentioned . Almost exactly how you described her.

Her headline is something like 'Just the girl nex door'

If a person is too pretty or the man is too handsome, the general rule regarding appearance is why ARE they on a dating site. And forget that line about they can't meet people.

If you are an attrractive woman who happens to be a corpse in Dallas, Texas, you would get asked for a date.

Rich that is ridiculous.Do you think that because someone is good looking that it automatically means they will have no trouble finding someone.I have friends who are stunning yet are so very shy and such homebodys that dating is a nightmare for them.To them online dating is the only way to meet people.

What about the goodlooking people who don't go to clubs and work in an environment where most of their coworkers are the same sex?Where are they supposed to meet people?

ALL kinds of idiots. Trust me...and not necessarily "fake" but "deliberately deceptive".
Caucasian Man with black hair....probably means he has black hair on his back, cause it's not on his head.
Pics of 45 year old men with haircuts from "That 70s show"...hmmm. How hard is it to figure out the pic is 30 years old?
Pics of guys with their buds and they say "I'm the one second from the right" who is of course the best looking of the group...but when they show up for the date you realize they were actually the short fat guy on the left. "Oops."
Pics of guy in bathing suit....pic is 5-8 years old, before he gained 100 lbs
Pic with top of head cut off so you don't see there's no hair on it...

Get the "picture", so to speak?
