Fighters sweat off a couple pounds in a matter of like 30-60 mins from a steam room when they are a bit over before their weigh in.

There are a few ways you could do it. You'll need a 1500 calorie per day deficit created through diet and exercise.

Personally I would aim to eat at least 1500 calories per day though. Don't eat carbs apart from just before and just after workouts.

Do full body training with weights anywhere from 5-15 reps every other day, and stick to your diet and the flab shouldd fly off.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'm done though. I've lost 7 lbs already and I think I should have stopped at 5.
Don't worry, it wasn't a crash diet or anything! (Mainly just cut out red meat and increased my daily activities. )

Oh, come on people .Stop with the suggestions. I know this girl.. she's beautiful as she is.. Personally.. I don’t mind a hint of fat on a girl’s body.. When you take your girl out for dinner you can be certain she’s not shoving her finger down her through on the washroom break .. Jenn.. for someone whose not the relationship type you have t stop being bad to yourself. I don’t want to hug a stick.

Hey tri-
sorry to disagree with you, but I'm a health care provider and it is NOT NOT NOT unhealthy to lose 10 pounds in a month. That's 2.5 pounds a week..
10 pounds a week you'd have a point.(and yes it's possible)
10 pounds a month is the goal of most weight loss plans that offer a steady loss.
I lost 4 pounds a month and you probably don't want to know how.
and I'm healthy as a horse with no adverse effects

4 pounds is a month is nothing. That’s the difference between before and after a meal. For some food fanatics could be more.

Just wondering.. what is worse.. loosing too many pounds too quickly or beeing overweight? just Curious

omg..why do people look for short term solutions like this? they just end up gaining it back and yo-yoing...they should be looking for a lifestyle not a quick fix....

So my question is, any suggestions how to do so?

Unless your thyroid is dead, or nearly dead, you can easily lose 10 pounds in a month simply by cutting out all soy, soy products, and sweeteners [natural and artificial]. You have to read labels, though, because those three things are in just about everything.

Yah I have to disagree with you on that one.
Im a very active individual and work out about 5 days a week and eat healthy but not like a rabbit... if I want a chocolate bar ill eat it sort of thing - moderation. Anyways the point im getting at here is I lost 25lbs last year which doesnt seem like much 2 lbs a month but I lost alot of inches. My legs and most of my core is pure muscle... weight is just a number. I noticed a significant change in my body after 6 months but still only lost about 10 lbs. And I havent gained any of it back. I still eat what I want in moderation do atleast an hour of cardio 5 days a week plus 3 days of weight training and id say theres still a huge difference from what I was before... I weigh 175lbs but only have 26% body fat... a healthy female is supposed to have 25-30% body fat. So even though my BMI says im obease - cleary im not. When I stand beside women that are even 35lbs lighter than I am alot of people will agree my body looks better. Im more toned, have a nicer shape, nice boobs - and still have that little bit of ass.

So Ladies...

REMEMBER --- WEIGHT IS JUST A NUMBER!!

You wont start looking better to other people until you start feeling better about yourself first.**

hi.. eat raw fruit from wake up until 1 hr b4 lunch.. eat a green salad with lunch and dinner and use non vinegar dressings, fresh lemon lime or grapefruit juice with olive oil and herbs tastes great... doing just that will help you lose 3 - 12 lbs in 2 weeks... to increase weight loss, eat meatless meals for the entire day...try to separate animal proteins and starches ie, eat salad and lightly steamed veggie with chick breast fish cheese etc then make another meal a starch base with salad and lightly teamed veggie and rice or potato or all grain pasta etc... the weight will fly off if you do all of the above for 3 weeks or more.. I eat raw fruit for breakfast ( min of 3 servings) salad and raw nuts or seeds for lunch then a high raw low cooked meal for supper... I believe in 2 main meals after breakfast allowing the digestive organs to rest fully between meals... we need times to assimilate and eliminate vs always in digestion mode... burning calories at the expense of depleting our energy stores will wear us out over time... walking is great, yoga and low weight high rep workouts will help you to be ripped in a feminine way in no time...blessings, warmly Mona

Hiya, I need to drop 10 lbs.
When this goal is reached is unimportant, I just feel less energetic than I was 10 lbs ago and would like to get back in better shape.

Looking for (male, female, couple, whatever) beginner running buddy in New York area - it is summer, let's go running outside every other day together.
Any takers?

imo being overweight is better than loosing too many pounds too quickly. You're probably healthier when you are overweight. If you are massively overweight then it's not healthier, probably a lot worse.

Lift Weights and either keep your diet the same or drop the calorie in take. I always try to remind everyone that muscles require fuel. So if you do some resistance training with weights, not only will you be stronger, but your muscles will suck the fat right off your bones :o)

Just try to start with 10 to 15 lb dumb bells - I hate to see chicks with those cute little silver mickey mouse weights. Stupid - they may as well stay home and knit.

Of course this might be a little late, since the OP posted this in 2007 and needed to loose weight by the next month ~ Sorry I wasnt that observant until now ~ But at least it benefits whom ever drops by later for the same reasons. Better late than never.

Also I worked grave yard for 9 years sitting at a desk all night remoting into hotels all over the world as front desk systems blew up during the end of day process. So I know what you mean about "stagnant" ~ so you probably put a lot of coffee or sugar/carbs in your system to keep you awake, then go home and sleep.

Grapes are a great source of sugar and they expand when they hit your belly making you feel full. Also drink lots of water - even if you have to put some crystal light in it. Flushes out the system & replenishes your skin cells.

Stay away from colon cleaners, throwing up, stool softeners, etc. Onion soup with cabbage is natures best. You can add anything you like too - about two weeks of that and your track is clean as a whistle... unless you fill it up with fries & burgers again.

Just don't sleep with someone you love ~ Phew ~ stinky!

And about loosing too many pounds to quickly. If this were possible the plastic docs would be put out of business. If you starve yourself, your body goes into survival mode - making it tougher and tougher to loose weight. This is why the last 10 lbs is tough to loose.

Always always consult a doctor you trust before going crazy with anything. PoF is no medical opinion. But most docs will say it is about a good diet & routine exercise... always.

So much of the information one gets these days is from people who mean well but are only repeating a fragment of something they saw on TV which, very well, could have been a fragment of something that couldn't be covered in its entirety... so good luck with all that.

But here's a way to lose 10lbs very fast: LOW SODIUM.

With good intentions, a 10lb loss in one week or month will have people screaming, "It's only water weight you're losing!" as if losing 10lbs of water is a failure of some kind. Well, due to high sodium diets, large amounts of people are holding way more water than they should be and it's perfectly ok and EASY to lose 10lbs of water in 1 WEEK, let alone one month. And it's not unhealthy... as long as you keep drinking (that's an irony because as long as you keep the sodium low and the water coming in, the body won't be concerned about dehydration and will release more fluids from the tissues.).

A 10lb loss of water weight is VERY noticeable and you'll probably fit in clothes smaller than the ones you wear now. And it will make your joints feel better so you can walk more easily and will, therefore, burn fat as a result... it's all good.

LOW SODIUM.... pick up the DUKE DIET book on Amazon or B&N....

Okay

I' ve skimmed some other posts and agree on the cardio so have nothing to add there as well as several small meals and lots of water to trick your body into always feeling full.

I'd do the Adkins diet right away if it was me and I mean "STRICT" Adkins. If you "modify" it, it doesn't work because it's based on chemistry...no wishs.

Don't stay on it indefinately because it works. It's not designed to be a lifestyle, but rather a short term healthy weight loss system which will allow you the strength for cardio and weight training as you loose pounds. I'd say 3-6 months max before you go to a healthy maintanance diet.

If you eat well-balanced, low-sodium meals with plenty of water, sticking to around 1000-1200 calories per day and walking 30-40 min 4-5 times per week, I've no doubt you'll see a 10lb weight loss your first week.

You don't need pseudo-scientists telling you its mostly water because, hell yeah, there's nothing wrong with losing all that excess water your body is storing -- and if you're overweight, it's storing a lot.

Are you trolling or genuinely ignorant?

1000-1200 calories a day is way too low and the body will go into survival mode. Sodium as absolutely nothing to do with weight. Most people do not 'store excess water'. Your claim about that is ridiculous and dangerous. Were most people to suffer a 10lb water defecit they will be suffering advanced dehydration.

Walking like you suggest is better than nothing- and for extremely obese people a good start. A person of about 200lb will burn around 800 calories extra in a week in 5 30 minute sessions. In nearly 5 weeks that adds up a to a whole pound of fat! One whole pound!

For comparison, two 30 minute runs at 8mph burns around 1200, 50% more in less than half the time. My ~4 weight sessions a week add up to nearly 3000.

I think it best if you never give health or exercise advice again. Pro-tip: check your profile to make sure all self descriptions are accurate.

Last person I would ask is a doctor because most of them have no clue. They only take 10 hours of training for nutrition. I asked my doctor what vitamins I needed for my health and the dosage, he told me he doesn't have a clue, he told me to lose weight yet he couldn't tell me how.
