| Stutter Posted: 11/23/2007 6:18:37 AM | i wouldn't be put off at all
one of my brothers, (who now lives in sweden with his own company teaching english to various cooperations and schools,) has a stutter.. it used to be quite severe, but has become less so over the years.. although he's married now, he never had a problem with girlfriends - his confidence and sense of humour won them all over, he's a lovely bloke.. and that does shine brighter than any slight let or hindrance, imo

| Stutter Posted: 11/23/2007 7:11:12 AM | One of my male FWB's stutters a bit, it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, it bothers him more than me. Most of the time I don't really notice, and even when I do, I don't say anything b/c it doesn't bother me. I think he's sweet no matter what. Although...I have to say that a lisp does tend to bother me...I've never been with someone who has a lisp, so I don't know for sure if it would really bother me that much, but I know when I see someone on TV with a lisp I'm slightly annoyed by it...sorry don't flame me, I know that the person can't help it, but I guess it's just one of my aversions. | |

| Stutter Posted: 11/27/2008 5:23:28 PM | When I was younger I stuttered like no tomorrow. I couldn't even read in front of the class, without getting giggles. I learned to live with it and went to speech threrapy 3 times a week in grammer school. Many moons later, I still have some of a stutter sometimes. My current GF thinks it's awesome, I tell her it's fine if she laughs, cause, God knows, I am laughing too when I do it.
But think of the advantage Johnny, say your S/O is giving you a BJ, and by the time you tell her you are going to decorate the inside of her mouth, you'll already done it!!! And then blame it on the stuttering so she won't get mad...LOL!!!
(By the way I was joking about the last part..teehee!!)

Hello all I havent dated for 12 years this is my first time back on the ropes , What i was wandering is ive had a severe stutter most of my life the last year or so ive reduced it to mild stuttering which has helped alot . Im asking the question what if i didnt tell the date i had a stutter ,how would you woman feel if i had a date with you and started to stutter ,would this be off putting or would you just except for who i was . Also what if i phoned you and had a block with my talking . I think im a genuine guy very funny with a big heart . Id like you too be honest in your opinion this can also help me with research im doing at the moment aswell . Thanks Johnny This isnt a wind up Johnny has left the building already, but this is an interesting question in itself. I've had several friends, all male, who have varying degrees of stutter. Of course, in their youth, it was a glaring obstacle because they'd get teased and tormented in the worst way. Growing up though, most took it upon themselves to seek out speech therapy and the like to try and deal with their affliction.
If a girl found a stutter offputting, then she's just a shallow piece of trash that doesn't deserve the time of day. He'll have to adapt to her stretch marks and saggy ass skin sooner or later, and I doubt he'd judge her against it. It's just a speech impediment, not the end of the world.
Now, if you spoke like Boomhaeuer (From King of the Hill) or Porky Pig on the other hand...I could see where this may cause some grief whether you like it or not. Still, I'd find it odd that a stutter would be such a deal breaker to anyone.
I'm very articulate when I speak, but even I can be prone to a stammer or trip of the lip on occasion in the right circumstances.

| Stutter Posted: 11/30/2008 1:58:50 PM | I think the woman who loves you for you, is all that matters, and if she has a problem with you stuttering, that's her problem, not yours. I have a bit of a crush on my boss, and he has as stutter. But he's a cool person, so it doesn't matter to me. (he's also my boss which is why he'll never know about this crush but if he wasn't, I'd ask him out)
If I met a guy with a stutter, but we hit it off, then I'd definitely keep seeing him.
