| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 6:12:16 PM | Well, I'm a fan... racing is in my blood. My father's side of the family all raced something at one point or another.
I remember going to the Big Rig races as a kid and loving it. Adoring the funny cars and just the whole atmosphere of the races. I've been to Pocono for the Pocono 500 (was infield right by the fence between turns 2 & 3... it rocked!).
I certainly don't fit the stereotypical profile of a NASCAR fan, but there it is... :)
(And yes, I'm a Jeff Gordan fan, Tony Stewart a close second and Jamie MacMurray isn't bad either, though I'm not too keen on Robbie Gordan - something about his attitude that rubs me the wrong way...)
Oh, and just for the record... there is NO NASCAR decor in my home. *shrug*

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 6:26:27 PM | | Er.......it would be pretty tough for me to say no. I'm not a NASCAR fan at all, but I spend my Saturdays from early April to late October chasing my son's jr. dragster up and down the 1/8th mile. I don't enjoy NASCAR, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker, as long as he could deal with me needing my NHRA fix. | |

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 7:29:42 PM | I never was really into NASCAR, my brother would always call and have me check to see how Terry Labonte was doing. At first I had a hard time figuring it all out. When I was with my ex, he was a die hard NASCAR fan, he would plant his ass on the couch in front of the big screen, had the surround sound cranked up and could not be bothered until the race was over. I will watch an occasional race every now and than, but I find it really hard to sit and watch the entire thing!!! Actually, I started to appreciate it more after I went out to a race for the first time at the Texas Motor Speedway. It is a fun and learning experience to go to a race for the first time. I have been to 2 races, and had a lot of fun, it is a lot different being at a race than watching on t.v. I told myself I would NEVER date another die hard NASCAR fan again, than I soon found out the guy I am talking to and getting to know is a Nascar fan. He is a fan of Jimmie Johnson, and Tony Stewart, Dale Jr. and Kasey Kahne are my guys. He has never been to a race and we have already made plans to go to a race in Texas next year. Since I work at Home Depot, we can purchase hospitality tickets, so next year that is what we will be doing. | |

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 7:34:53 PM | | All I have to say is... I LOVE NASCAR! Ryan Newman is my boy. Not a big Jimmie Johnson fan, but as long at Tony Steward doesn't win, I am a happy girl. I would love to find a guy that loves to watch Nascar. OP, as you mentioned, some people still think that it is a redneck/country thing but that is so not the case. I mean, who doesn't love fast cars? I am a city girl and there is nothing better than a loud fast car and some cold beer. | |

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 7:38:25 PM | | I don't think you have to have so much in common with a person to like them, especially if you have open relationships. | |
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 7:58:44 PM | I don't consider it such a deal breaker. I state in my profile I'm a fan more as a warning. Some people are just as bad when it comes to football, golf, bowling and more. At one time I was a die hard, right down to my Dale Jarrett Christmas tree. When a race came on, my phone was unplugged until the standings were shown.
My cousin's daughter was married on the day of the No Bull Shootout. The bar brought in extra tv's by request, the grand march was delayed, and the dance floor was pretty bare. Did the bride mind? No, because she married a driver.
Was it always like that? No. At one time I didn't know who any of the driver's were, or what kind of car they drove, or who sponsored them. I was seeing a man who was forever saying "But the race is that day!" So I started watching, and I understood.
I'm the same way about football. I have no interest in it. As for the comment all they do is drive around in circles... sure they do. In extreme heat, with 41 other guys driving around in the same circle, all trying to get to the same place before anyone else does. There is no stopping to go to the bathroom. After a Busch Race, I washed a driver's suit for him. It weighed a lot more before I washed it, and smelled pretty bad. Ask someone who has raced what it's like to drive around in circles for a couple of hours.

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 8:08:17 PM | I don't think being a fan of any sport, liking a certain genre of music, movies....I AM a fan!! DUH...username, NFL fans should recognize it. And yes, fan is short for fanatic. Am I fanatic...yes!! A thin line...an obsession? No. As much as I dearly love and follow my team, my only obsession is my family. My priority..my wonderful man and my awesome (grown) children. If it came to a choice I wouldn't blink. They know they're number ONE in my life. I can tape the games if I'm need elsewhere....watch them later or just order them on DVD.
If you're a fan like I am it is a passion...my blood bleeds red and black... Okay...well almost. I love it, I enjoy it, but I love those I care about more.

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 9:31:56 PM | I agree with what bucsgirl said, I am a major fan of racing but watching each and every race is not a necessity. It's a matter of priorities and family and loved ones will always be my first priority. However......I really hope they don't need me during the Daytona 500 or when the race is in Talledega or Bristol at night or............................(I think you get the idea). | |
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/24/2007 9:53:05 PM | I am a NASCAR Fan!!! I am not glued to the TV for every race, but I love Racing and have since I was a young girl. Although after seeing them live, right there in the Great Seats, it lost a little flare on TV. Yes, I would date a NASCAR FAN!!! | |
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/25/2007 6:17:23 PM | Never saw a race live......and I live less than 2 hours from Daytona! Gotta do something about that next season.
Hey.....Sweetie......yeah, you.....are you reading this?

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/26/2007 9:18:28 AM | Nope, ain't gonna, can't make me,...nope...
I will never, ever, ever again "date" a NASCAR fan. Might marry one but won't ever date one. I mean, isn’t all that starting and stopping hard on gas mileage? Spending 5 hours to go a total of two miles? Ain’t it pollutin’ our air? Isn’t there some environmental laws against that sorta thing?
It just ain’t natural, I tell ya’!!!
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/26/2007 9:29:41 AM | DEFINITELY!!!!!!!!! As long as they were NOT Jeff Gordon or Jimmy Johnson fans. Jack Rousch rules .......Matt Kenseth got robbed. Would love to find a woman that enjoys and would sit with me at a race or snuggle while the race is on TV.
~~SUN~~ | |
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/26/2007 5:42:27 PM | Matt Kenseth got robbed. maybe if he drove faster they wouldn't have been able to catch him.....hope they stole his car.
Fluke: I get the impression there is more than what you are telling.

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/28/2007 10:46:17 PM | Actually I have noticed a lot of womens profiles stating they are NASCAR fans! I am A Wrestling fan not only that a former Wrestler. Some love it some hate it. If some one disqualifies me because of it well their loss No one should ever have to change who they are. | |
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/29/2007 4:44:59 PM | texasbilly.....people automatically assume I like wrestling just because I like racing??? Stereotyping, I guess. I don't watch it but that doesn't mean I dislike it. It is just simply something I have never gotten into.
I am sure the same people who criticize NASCAR criticize wrestling for the same reason. They have no clue about it. They don't know the drivers/wrestlers, the rules, the strategy involved....or anything.
Dale Jr. win the next championship? That's some mighty big wishful thinking. Don't get me wrong, I like him and I am thrilled that he joined Hendricks. He WILL win a championship but I think it is going to be several years down the road.
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/29/2007 7:14:46 PM | I..........................LOVE............................................NASCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got into it about 5 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. I'm a college educated woman, brought up in an upper middle class home and know which fork is used for the salad and which spoon is for tea.
And I also know that if you don't get the fvck out of my way during race day there's gonna be HELL TO PAY!
lol.....
Go Biff and Ham!!! And to all my Jr. fan friends..... don't worry, just add another eight or drink til you're seein' double.
Hah! (sorry Debb... couldn't help myself.....)
Boogity Boogity!!!!! See ya'll in February!!!

| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/30/2007 12:45:36 AM | Yeah, I'm usually a huge F1, WRC and MotoGP fan.
And when I tell them that, a person says, "Yeah, that's way better than NASCAR."
Then I realize I should've told them that I do heavily enjoy NASCAR as well. I guess I should really mention that first?
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/30/2007 2:52:57 AM | My coworker is a die hard NASCAR fan..she has 3's and 8's all over her cubicle..on her truck and on her clothes. She has a basement ...I call it a shrine of NASCAR.
She makes good money and pays her own bills. The only thing I see is...she IS a bit of a redneck..can be pushy sometimes but has a heart of gold.

Yeah, I'm usually a huge F1, WRC and MotoGP fan. And when I tell them that, a person says, "Yeah, that's way better than NASCAR." Then I realize I should've told them that I do heavily enjoy NASCAR as well. I guess I should really mention that first? I just started watching F1 and Indy this year..... and I'm so lost and got quite bored. NOW I KNOW HOW EVERYONE THAT KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT NASCAR FEELS!
I'm going to take the off season to learn everything I can about the different forms of racing so when I start up again I'll have a better understanding of why they're doing what they're doing.... and who's WHO. There's nothing worse than watching a sport when you don't know any of the names or the strategies in play.....
Hit my first dirt track this year too and cannot WAIT til next season! That was very hillbilly, but OMG can you say ACTION?!? So many wipe outs, you're up close and personal, dirt flying everywhere!!! And it was great to see so many families together. Where do you see that at a sporting event anymore?!
Yup. I'm a race fan and I'm proud of it. AND.... I have all my teeth and an IQ higher than most..... lol
|
| Would you date a NASCAR fan? Posted: 11/30/2007 5:39:42 AM | I'm a NASCAR fan myself ... note that I did not call myself a fanatic. I love going to races, watching it a bit, having it on the tv while I clean ... However, I do not wear Earnhardt gear, have stickers on my car, or scream Dale's name out in the middle of the night.
Some guys are covered in NASCAR paraphernalia and to some women, it's a turn off.
The thing is ... be who you are. Do what you enjoy. Don't conform to what you think other people want. Someone will accept your hobbies, just the way they are.
Good luck! | |
