"Have you ever been to a NASCAR race? Ever seen one on TV? This shirt goes out to everyone who has unwillingly watched cars go around in a circle for over two hours straight."

I've been watching and following NASCAR for about three years. Still learning. And yes, I would date a fan. Actually, I have been looking for one. I'm partial to #29, Harvick. NASCAR=summer. Baseball=summer. My two favorite sports.

I am not a Nascar fan, and have dated a few of them a few times. The problem I've had is not with Nascar, but with the fan. I, myself, don't care for it, and was nagged to death to sit and watch it. If I were with a man who did not like football, for instance, I would not care if he did not want to sit and watch the game with me. Maybe he would rather go golfing while I watched the game, but the finatics I was with thought surely they could talk me into loving it too. Nope.

Hello,

I am a huge NASCAR fan. I actually own one. It's not a Nextel cup car, but it's a Canadian Tire Series car. People that look down on the sport have no idea. It's the best in the world. We give gifts to the kids every race, and do all kinds of events that help the community. All the teams are like one big family. Believe me, the commercials on TV are correct. It's not a sport, it's an Amazing Way of Life. Insecure people post such things, they are not secure enough in themselves to let there partners enjoy something on Sunday that doesn't involve them!!! Trust me your better off Moving On!!!!!

Well Mattyboy... guess what ? Some of us "unrefined Americans" are also Formula one Fans... I've been to both F1 and NASCAR Races.
While I am a fan of the Engineering and technical side of it, Formula one is the most Anti Climatic type of racing there is. Qualifiying dicates basically who wins the race and if there isnt an overtake in the first turn or a pit mishap, you can pretty much leave the race knowing that the Pole winner also won the race.

Additionally, NASCAR Caters to its fans. A lot more so than that foolish idiot Bernie Eccelstone who cares about one thing and one thing only ..>HIS MONEY. Formula One will never catch on here in the states after the rubbish He and Michelin pulled at the 2005 USGP. He screwed thousands of race fans out of several hundreds of Dollars, when all he had to do was make a slight change in the track. Instead he allowed his prima donna Michilen backed team owners to whine their to protest and shout down on the paddock leaving 6 cars to race... thats a joke!!

And lastly.. we Dont want "your sports" ... NASCAR going in Circles is not nearly as boring as watching a bunch of guys chase a ball for 2 hours without anyone scoring.
And last time I checked... there has NEVER EVER been an all out RIOT at a NASCAR Race.

Ok here is my take on an racing...I don't care what it is.. if you like it cool. If you don't cool. Yes I will watch NASCAR races.. but I also watch road races, pro rally,etc.. etc.. etc.. I use to work flags, com, emergency and fire, for several. Even if I am not 'sitting there' glued to the tube, I'll come and go watching it.. as long as I am not expected to SIT there and watch it non stop, and do the run for whatever on the commercial breaks. I'm good.
I'm POSITIVE. I have things I love watching and doing that will bore the hell out of others.

But, to blow off someone for something silly like NASCAR or some other hobby... shrug..

I am in no way, shape, or form a NASCAR fan, but some of my friends are fans and they are the salt of the earth. Let me say that nobody from England is in any position to call NASCAR rubbish or to imply that it is boring because they go around in circles (at average speeds of up to 188 miles per hour) while in England thousands of fans gather for an afternoon of watching grown men run around on a field, kicking a ball back and forth to each other and maybe at the end of an exciting match a grand total of 3 goals are scored.

The 2006 World Cup is on record as one of the leanest in terms of goals scored, 139 in 62 matches heading to the final weekend, for an average 2.27 goals per match. The 1998 WC, produced 171 goals in 64 matches (2.7 goals/match) and the 2002 WC scored 161 goals in 64 matches (2.5 goals/match).

Now to those of us here in the United States, soccer is the definition of a boring sport, kind of like watching grass grow or water freeze. You watch a match and you pray for something to happen, anything to happen. But WOW!, what action! Yes, soccer is certainly a recipe for an orgasmic afternoon of excitement.

The drivers in NASCAR risk life and limb while in the soccer matches in England it seems that the knucklehead fans are the only ones risking life and limb. So please spare us the drivel about NASCAR being boring.

I have seen, in many profiles (men and women), where people say if you are a NASCAR fan then "move on", "next", "pass me by".......that sort of thing.
WHY?

That is a bit strange to pre-screen applicants on that alone, but I too have seen it listed...

I'm no NASCAR fan to the degree of being insane about it. I don't have memorible laying every where, an autograph book full of drivers names or sleep under Nascar themed sheets. I can't even recall the last time I actually went to a NASCAR track for a race, maybe a decade ago? I don't follow the series on television but I will sometimes watch a race, every now and then. However, I'm not anti-nascar much of my income comes from NASCAR itself and I get to meet many of the drivers, outside what other people do. So, if women are passing my profile simple because I have NASCAR listed as a point of interest, then they are sadly mistaken... I can't for the life of me why they would find NASCAR such an excluding quality?

I've got better things to worry about in the world than who won the latest race!

You are forgiven and I applaud your class.

Many sports are like apples and oranges and are hard to compare in terms of excitement or level of boredom. In the U.S. baseball is very popular with millions of people while millions of others find it slow and boring. Much of the appreciation of any sport will come with an understanding of it. Some sports (I think of golf and bowling) are probably more fun to participate in than to watch.

Oh, and I was tweaking you a bit on soccer, although you might understand how many would find it boring like those who just look at NASCAR as cars going in circles (which until recently had been me also).

we seen how Formula 1 AND Indy car standouts are now migrating to NASCAR! Juan Pablo Montoya, his wife and family were overwhelmingly surprised by the outpouring of camaraderie and welcome they received when he became a full time driver.

Sad to say that the only reason Juan Pablo was a standout in F1 was because he failed to reach his potential and only win a handful of races , just like Michael Andretti .. I dont think that you will find Michael or Ralf Schumacher in NASCAR anytime soon .

That said , I agree with the poster earlier that said F1 is dull - it is - and Bernies obsession with making his money, founding races in completely inappropriate bits of the world, but most of all the aero technical regs , is to the detriment of the sport. He is single handedly killing it.

The average speed is nothing to do with the excitement. Anyone can build a car that will do 188 mph - in fact some road going cars acheive that , and a lot of bikes too. Perhaps we in the UK are not educated enough to appreciate the skills involved in oval racing - we have been brought up on road courses, closely matched saloon cars and a variety of corners from hard brake slow hairpins , to ball - testing flat out curves , at speeds much lower than 188 , testing a variety of skills in a drivers repertoir.

3 goals !!?? Luxury - I wish my team could score 1, never mind three !!!!!!!!!!!!!

If all you see when you watch a NASCAR race is cars going around and around making a left hand turn. Then Your not seeing what is really going on. I have been invovled in auto racing and can see things most people don't. Most of my friends enjoy watching a race with me cause I can see all kinds of stuff happening. And I'm more then willing to explane anything to them. All you have to do is want to learn the sport of auto racing and it can be a blast.............. Still I would rather drive them then watch them.

My point was drivers are coming to NASCAR for myriad reasons regardless their relative success (lack thereof) in another series. We don't need or really care who drives in NASCAR---once they embrace the form they're accepted as drivers until they prove otherwise. With a wealth of home-grown talent ready to fill any empty drivers seat the foreigners aren't without competition for the chance to drive in this elite circuit.

Every form of automobile racing has it's own skill set. As much as I don't like drag racing there is a natural talent that does not translate into the longer distance forms. Road courses require precision of executing turns etc as well as competing on the track for position. Oval racing at speed requires the same precision especially at hitting the marks going through a turn. Oval tracks are NOT simply "go fast, turn left...." as any in-car camera clearly shows. It's not as simple as driving down a highway---unless speeds of 180mph + with 42 other drivers is your typical highway! LOL

Anything is exciting OR boring if you're not interested in it---that includes some forms of racing as well!

I dont go to the races anymore..not since restrictor plates..but I remember the shoot out finishes in the 70's..THAT was racing..just hearing all those engines start up & then hear them when they lap around, nothing like that power.

Oh..I even remember one of the allison brothers & Cale duking it out on the infield..haha..it is commercialized & fixed for the sponsors now..

Hell, no. The whole culture would drive me crazy. It's simply not my idea of a way to spend a day or weekend. I volunteered once at a race for the experience and the noise, the fumes were too much for me.
But millions of men love it and I am sure have no problem finding gorgeous gals that do too.
