Would you date a NASCAR fan?

yes, I'd date a NASCAR fan, but please don't make me watch any more of the race except the last 2 laps.

I love baseball, but many people consider it dull and mind-numbing. I don't care; I watch it and go to all the live games I can. so why wouldn't I date someone who enjoys a sport I find dull beyond belief (except for the last 2 laps)? he can watch NASCAR, I can watch the Orioles - everyone's happy.

NASCAR, by the way, is southern for "nice car." say it a few times!

Here is my observations on the N.A.S.C.A.R. fans I know.

1.Have their favorite driver and buy every licensed product. They are like a walking shrine.

2.Must watch EVERY race, and if possible GO to every race. It's very important to keep up on which team their driver is currently on, who their rivals are, who is sponsoring them, etc. Kind of like women who follow soap operas; I don't date them either.

3.Love to hang around and talk with other N.A.S.C.A.R. fans, so they can convert the "non-believers".

4.Seem to be obsessed with cars that go around in a circle really fast. They will then defend their passion of "fast circle driving" by telling you about the "science" behind it, and how hard "drafting" is.

Could I really date someone that easily amused by a sport summed up by, "Hit the gas and go left!"? Hmmm. Probably not!

I wouldn't, or at least none of the ones around here. Despite what others have said about stereotypes, the NASCAR fans in my immediate area seem to fit the stereotype quite well. There are key words in local profiles that turn me away. When I see the word NASCAR in POF profiles in my area, it's typically followed by other red flags like 4-wheelers, muddin', country music, and Jesus. It's a sure sign that we probably won't have many common interests. There is a lot of truth behind this particular stereotype and although there is the occasional exception, I can't seem to find too many on here. And yes, that's using a 100 mile search radius. It's a real shame. If the question were flipped around, I am not so sure a NASCAR fan would date me either. To each their own. I'm the type that would enjoy a rally race.

I don't want to date ANYONE who sits glued to a TV for any length of time. Drives me nuts.

Well I'm no NASCAR fan either... O' I might watch some of a race on a rare occassion but I don't have bed sheets and drapes with my favorite NASCAR driver, LOL. Yea, that might be taking the definition a bit far but it's not off the mark by much...

Nevertheless, having the unique position that permits me to be up close and personal with NASCAR types. I can assure you the sterotype is completely wrong. You tell me exactly how many of you can afford to travel the season circuit of NASCAR (the same as a real die hard NBA Fan or AFC fan.) In your $200,000- $ 2 Million dollar motorhome spending a week in various cities across the nation for 10 months of the year? Buying the fuel, food, tickets, etc, at each event. I used to have the same vision of NASCAR fans but I have since seen the error of my ways and been corrected. The way I see things now could be said the same of Basketball or Football fans, they seem to be the same kind of people.

Not everyone is a figure skating or gymnastics fan nor does this make them less sophisticated than those of NASCAR.

I don't watch NASCAR. But I would consider dating a NASCAR fan if we had some other common interests and she didn't expect me to watch NASCAR with her. Same thing applies to other sports I don't like. Soccer, golf, tennis etc

Being a NASCAR fan isn't a dealbreaker provided that we had some other common interests and she didn't expect me to watch NASCAR with her. This can apply to any activity / hobby that I don't like.

I always thought NASCAR was boring, cars going in circles, really now...until a friend started me watching - and someone I was seeing is also a huge fan. If I am home, I turn on the race. I wouldn't mind going one of these days either to see what that's like. It's on my profile - and I have had people exclaim after talking with me a while that they are stunned I'm not some "redneck"...there is that stereotype out there!

I wouldn't want to date anyone who put ANY sport/TV show/event ahead of me 100% of the time. I don't have a problem with "the race (or game) is on tonight, can we do dinner together tomorrow instead" but I would have a problem with someone telling me "I know it's your birthday and I said I'd come to the family celebration, but the race is on!"...

It's all about balance, just like with everything else in life.

I don't seem to be into the type of men that are into NASCAR. They all seem to be that type your talking about! I have no interest in NASCAR.

Well i dont think you should paint everyone with the same brush.
Nascar races are awesome and ,i would love to behind the wheel myself driving lol.
When you meet the right person hopefully they will share some of the interests as well.
Hang in there and good luck on pof.
