Question - Green Bean Casserole??? Yuck! What is the story??!???

I have no idea where this stuff came from, but I want it to go back. I first experienced this splooge about 15 years ago. I had a buzz and it had those little onions on top so I ate it. Annually it was presented and I grew increasingly disgusted with each year. I refuse to serve it to my children even though they ask ' Whats that Daddy" Green Hell I reply. As an avid vegetable eater/lover I cannot understand why we do this to the tasty and defenseless Green Bean? Here is another one. Why do people take perfectly good Yams and drown them in crap? My personal fave is to bake a real Yam and add butter, salt and pepper. Not the pounds of marshmellows, butter and cinnamon/brown suger. I don't really even know whats on it, but it's a mess. Oh well my advice is to offer to bring the green beans this year and saute some fresh ones with fresh garlic and olive oil. Add a little salt and pepper and almond slivers if you want?

My brother's wife makes this for any picnic or dinner that she is invited to. TO them, Taco Bell is exotic food, so needless to say, she is not adventurous to add anything like jalepinos, or almonds to make it more interesting.
