I suppose it wouldnt be too far out of line to suggest when a women shows up demanding free health care to give birth to then deport her happy butt BEFORE the kid is born here - that would sure stop the anchor babies

Immigrant who saved boy recognized at border ceremony

NOGALES - An illegal immigrant who rescued a 9-year-old boy from the southern Arizona desert will be recognized for his actions at a ceremony Tuesday morning in Nogales.
The ceremony is set to begin at 10 a.m. for Manuel Jesus Cordova Soberanes.
Beatriz Lopez Gargallo, Mexican consul general for Nogales, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada, and other officials are planning to present Cordova with certificates of recognition.
Authorities say if it hadn't been for Cordova, 9-year-old Christopher Buchleitner might be dead.
Cordova was two days into his journey to Arizona from Mexico when he spotted Christopher, alone and injured in the desert. Christopher's mother had just died after she crashed their van.
Cordova says he gave the boy his sweater, fed him chocolate and cookies and built a bonfire until hunters found them 14 hours later and called for help.

In April, Santos, while driving under the influence, crashed into a car killing a young woman. (Belleville News-Democrat, November 27, 2007)
¡ñ November 2007 - Alfred Ramos, an illegal immigrant, was sentenced to twenty four years in prison in Virginia Beach. On March 30, Ramos, while driving under the influence, crashed into a car, killing two teenagers. Posted: 12/5/2007 12:29:16 PM | Those acts are ALWAYS in the spotlight, they make the news, they let rednecks get together and hate, they rally the right wing. Acts of kindness go unnoticed, because they don't generally want to be in the spotlight.
It has been my experience that the immigrants are coming here to work, they bust their @$$es, in the heat, in the fields, as laborers. They do it for far less than any of us would, which is why your produce is cheap(er). They are deeply religious, especially the women, but they seem to live by those values.
We are a nation built upon the foundation of immigration, but we forget that when it is convenient to hate.
Yes, some immigrants commit crimes. Yes, it is a problem. But all of the crimes of all of the immigrants combined doesn't even come CLOSE to the 18,000 people who die in this country EVERY year because they can't afford healthcare. Their economic footprint saves you money. They DON'T take YOUR jobs, because you DON'T do their jobs!
I didn't start this thread for a debate on immigration, I started it just to point out the fact that they aren't just criminals and vegabonds. That they are humans, with the same values and compassion SOME of us have.
However, listening to the ignorant rants on here has shifted my position. I would rather live next to an illegal immigrant, than next door to a racist, ANY DAY! | |

A reduction in those costs means that the average American has a little more disposable income, which means more jobs for restaurants, theatres, (as well as other things like CDs, DVDs, electronics and those who sell them) etc. those jobs create more. It is called an "economic multiplier." Yes, it would be preferable for those to be high paying jobs for American Citizens, but you would have to pay twice as much for your produce! | |

Do the math the average illegal family is reported to make about 45,000$ per year. That is much more than the average lower middle class worker. When you dont pay income tax or social security if you make 10$ an hour that is you disposable income. If you have to pay taxes like a good law abiding citizen and made 10$ per hour you would make about 7.50$ per hour of disposable income.The employers pay the illegals 10$ per hour and save about 5$ per hour because they dont have to pay taxes or workmans comp for the illegals. The illegals don't need health care benefits because they can go to the emergency room for anything from headaches to cancer doesnt matter the law states that the hospitals cant turn them away even though they Do not pay!Besides how long do you think illegals will work for what they are working now? the only way to keep the "low wages" is for a constant stream of illegals to enter our country.As the illegals live here for longer durations there expectation of pay goes up even though their willingness to pay Income taxes doesn't.So the guy who used to work for 8$ per hour of net non taxed pay expects 10$ or 11$ per hour of net non taxed pay...which is still more than many lower income Americans make ...what the guy did was a nice thing to do but it really doesn't have the impact you are seeking based on the fact that you are dealing with between 12 and 20 million illegals in our Country......its funny how many try to use the old price of lettuce to sway peoples opinions about illegal immigration...if so many work in agriculture why are the highest percentages of illegal populations in the Urban areas?I found this on a site that is sympathetic to Illegals....

But they don't work as cheap as illegals will, so they've been replaced by the illegals. Now we see the same things happening in the construction industry and others. Why should the employers pay an American citizen $20.00 an hour when they can get 3 or 4 illegals to do the same job. Maybe you can explain the "economic multiplier." to all the carpenters, plumbers and bricklayers that have to work 60 or 70 hours a week to feed their familys. Why can't these illegals just go through the immigration process. We're all immigrants,the difference is our fathers & grandfathers did it the right way. Yes. It was a very humanitarian thing to do for that poor kid in such a tragic situation.

1. Their own gov't is so corrupt it cannot even enforce their own laws let alone provide a decent environment for business to operate without payoffs from the least peon to the biggest CEO. this makes it nigh unto impossible for businesses to thrive so it can provide decent jobs for the people.
2. This corruption has been a fact of their history since its inception.
3. The previous facts neccessarily lead to the conclusion that centuries of corruption breeds continued apathy toward keeping the law since law is powerless to prevent the corruption. The reason their laws are powerless is.......CORRUPTION!!!
4. This apathy toward law is prevalent among the entire ILLEGAL population demonstrated by the very fact that they come here ILLEGALLY!
So...tell me again why it is I should embrace 12-20 million lawbreakers?

Posted: 12/5/2007 4:43:23 PM | I agree, it should be easier for Legal immigration, and tougher on illegal. However, my best friend married a woman from Mexico City, it took them YEARS to get through the process.
Moreover, making it illegal is NEVER going to curb the tide. Their lives are often spent in economic despair. The only way to stem the tide is to punish those that hire them. Of course, Chicken will be $6/lb, Oranges would be $3/lb, lettuce would be$3 a head, etc. You don't really think you can punish the corporations? They will ALWAYS pass it along to the consumer.
To solve the problem, you need tough laws protecting Labor Unions. You need those Unions south of the border as well. If jobs paid more there, they wouldn't have to leave. You need to repeal some of the limited liability protection that corporations (LLC) now have. If a company tries to pass the cost on to you, you can't go after the owner's money, it is seperate. You can only go after company assets, which means you could cost the American jobs in the process.
I know I am glossing over this all quite a bit. I am trying to lightly touch on a number of the important areas, just as an overview. . . But hopefully you understand my perspective a little better. | |

I intend on learning Spanish next year though. I also think immigrants should be encouraged to learn English and that such training should be free.
I hat going to McDonalds and not getting my order right, because the person didn't understand me, just as much as you do. But the "English Only" thing is rediculous. How would you like it, if in 10-30 years, California became a Spanish only state? Or AZ, NM, TX, CO? Those states all may soon be a majority hispanic. As they say, be careful what you wish for. | |

We cant legalize all them, just because one did good. One nominee said if all who is here is illegal and wants to be legal, then denounce your country you came from (to get away from) and join (min 2 years) US military and then will be granted citizenship. Ask the illegal mexicans if they would do this for our country and I promise you most will not! Most feel they are mexico citizens and only want to be here to take (bleed) from our economy and help there true people out in Mexico. This right here says, they are not here to want to be a "REAL" US citizen and make there life better. Bring a war home to the US and they will all leave, because they are not here to protect are country.
I went to mexico legally and gave a boy $10 for his family to survive for the week, does this mean I should be granted mexican citizenship. If so I want there whole country to speak english then, because I'll be damned if I will learn there language in their country.

What this man did is not unusual of many of the people who come here illegally. Not everyone who comes here illegally is of the ilk dumped on us by Castro. He emptied the prisons, swept the streets, emptied the mental institutions and let us deal with them. Miami averaged two to six murders a day.
I knew many illegal immigrants in OKC in the early 1980's. They were hard working family oriented people who wanted a better life. My views have not changed, if you want to be here do it the right way. | |
