| Electronic Music Posted: 12/11/2007 8:05:29 AM | I'm into EBM & industrial stuff mainly (sorry to add to the list of sub genres but these 2 have been around for at least 20 years now), it's how I got into dance music. I've got to say though, anyone who's into happy hardcore is a charver & is seriously lacking in taste. | |

| Electronic Music Posted: 12/11/2007 12:44:41 PM | Well, first, I think its a little childish to say someone who listens to something you dont like is bad music or in bad taste. Everyone has their own taste in music. Its not like anyone is forcing you to listen to it. Its a wonderfull world of diversity.
Second, its not hard to listen to a wide variety of electronic music. I listen to many different genre's. Depends on my mood and what I feel like listining to. Why would that be such a hard thing to do?
|
| Electronic Music Posted: 12/12/2007 9:04:40 PM | I second with project1,
I go to what I'm feeling . Like right now I'm loving my rave playlist I got going with DJ perxion, DJ tiesto, Cascada and a few others. Just how I'm feeling. =)

| Electronic Music Posted: 12/16/2007 8:01:09 PM | I'm into electronic music. Techno, electro(funk), industrial and synthpop. Anything really synthy and I, for the most part, really enjoy it.
For those who are concerned by the multiplicity of the genre names. Some of them are necessary, some are not. I dislike the artists who decide upon a genre name - it's the music labels who set them out and the music fans who listen. I do get a bit disappointed by any dj or artist who attempts to create a new genre by himself. It just doesn't work that way.
However, the provision of adjectives on the genre names are fair game. Chill ____, Hard ____, Funky ____, Tech _____.

| Electronic Music Posted: 12/17/2007 8:48:30 PM | i've been listening to this stuff since i was 14. started out with aphex twins ventolin singles, then ... i care because you do(still one of my all time favourites) then all the old warp stuff, autechre, 2 lone swordsmen, squarepusher, plaid, lfo, muziq, mouse on mars(old stuff, anyway, glam is amazing). such a huge list really, newer acts like machine drum and arovane still blowing shit out of the water. i'm also a vinyl junky, for many reasons, but mostly because you can take all these old classics, throw them on a record player, and listen to them slowed down for a completely different experience. booc by plaid and music has a right to children by boards of canada are two really good examples of this, oh, and lp5 by autechre. took a forum question on the idm mailing list to tell me what speed was right(not that it matters, i still listen to it at whatever speed i feel like). so much music, so little time brian | |

| I love Electronic Music Posted: 12/17/2007 9:29:11 PM | I got hooked on it in college. Electronic music makes the best stuff to program too in my eyes. Underworld, Combichrist, propellorheads, Aryia are some of my favorites.
I make some electronic music. I'm not that good but here's what I did last week:
http://www.ir0ngruve.com/muzic/again.mp3 108bpm mellow slow dance music. This song is dedicated to Anita Rowland. rip.
http://www.ir0ngruve.com/muzic/door.mp3 130bpm? light and funky electro
http://www.ir0ngruve.com/muzic/hair.mp3 136bpm slightly mournful electro
http://www.ir0ngruve.com/muzic/rose.mp3 140bpm gothy wih required cheezy lyrics.
Comments more than welcome.

| I love Electronic Music Posted: 12/20/2007 7:55:30 PM | Been listening to electronic music for past 10 years. The thing that attracted most at first was the lack of lyrics.... Used to listen to goa, full on and prog...lately i'm leaning more to tech and electro for those who know: Extrawelt rocks my socks and their downtempo project DownHill is worth listening to. I'd have to say that Juno is my all time favorite (especially his older stuff...Shango and earlier). IM (Infected Mushroom) got me to this music, and for that big respect to them (and not for crap they're releasing now). Trentemoller, Booka Shade, Jesse Somfay, Dusty Kid, Shiloh are the ones i'm currently listening to.
I'll have to say, all though i'm a big deffender of electronic music (all genres) lately there's more and more wannabe producers and before you find something good you'll have to go through some trash. for electro, house and tech i'll suggest www.beatport.com for trance (psychedelic, goa, full-on & prog) www.saikosounds.com
havent really got into D&B and Hardcore
@Touch Samadhi....bro i'm sure i've seen you somewhere...??isratrance???

I love all of them too. Yazoo have reformed and are gigging next year. I had the pleasure of interviewing Alison Moyet a few years back, she was really nice, not stuck up at all :-)

| Electronic Music Posted: 12/27/2007 10:26:19 PM | These are some of my favorite tracks... Bentraxx - Thief Credits 2006 (Extended Mix) Danmass - Gotta Learn (track 9 in the game Rollcage) Crystal Method - Keep Hope Alive Fat Boy Slim - Right Here, Right Now Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death (personally edited the piano solos out to maintain the energy)
I tried posting a new track I made myself but a rude moderate decided while we can talk about music we can't post our own originally created music, jerk. Any way I posted it on the news page on my website, link in my profile.
I'd like to mix symphonic metal with drums and bass among other elements. Music is hard to describe since it's in a sense it's own language.
|
| Electronic Music Posted: 12/28/2007 5:04:35 PM | | Electronicore is also apparently a new sub-genre, crossing synthesizers and techno beats with heavy hardcore. Sounds pretty good to me :] | |
|
| Electronic Music Posted: 12/30/2007 12:17:55 PM | New Order's "Confusion" especially the version used in Blade is FAN-TAS-TIC as is Underworld's "Born Slippy" from Trainspotting
Maybe someone can tell me what the name is and who did it...I've heard it a million times, in all sorts of places, and movies but I have never been able to get it's "identity" heehehe
It starts off with like a electronic flute sounding dooo dooo dooo dooo dooo (pause) dadadoooo doooo dooo dooo dooo dooo dooo dadooo dooo dooo dooo dooo doo
I know...not much to work with...guess that's why I'm not a big enough fan to follow the genre...at least with lyrics you have a shot at figuring out the damn name of the song

| Electronic Music Posted: 12/30/2007 3:57:04 PM | | Ill be spinning HardCore on NewYears Eve at the PNE is anyone will be there. | |

| Electronic Music Posted: 12/31/2007 2:09:18 AM | Ilhan Mimaroglu, Morton Subotnick, Walter/Wendy Carlos, Tomita, Larry Fast (Synergy), Vangelis, Space Art, Fly Naked, Edgar Varese.... cripes, I feel like such a dinosaur.
Still damn good stuff, though. And not a "dance beat" in the lot.....

| Electronic Music Posted: 1/8/2008 12:21:09 AM | I'm a musician , specialising in electronica , but specifically making a mixture of nu-electro - idm / glitch , sounding a lot like Plaid / Balil apparently The sub-genres are necessary for this reason. Imagine going to Tescos to buy a bottle of wine , but Tescos had removed all the labels so you didnt know which country it was from , how much alcohol there was in it , how old its vintage etc......You wouldnt know where to start to look for something that suited your particular palette. So it is with electronic music. The cost of the technology to make music has come down sooooooo much , to the point where i have an entire studio installed on my pc right now as im talking to you , and anyone can now have this , which results in people who dont have a musical bone in their body , thinking in a " myspace i can be a star too " way , and thus over-saturating the marketplace , so the labels are very relevant , in terms of knowing where to start looking.
Ive heard of The flashbulb alright. Anyone into idm , check out Vesna on Merck records , especially a track called " rack mode " --- stunning music

| Electronic Music Posted: 1/9/2008 1:33:42 AM | | No mainstreme e-music for me, though I enjoy And One, Camoflague, De/Vision. I really like creative or gothic e-music artists like Diary of Dreams and Blood Angel, boards of canada, venetian snares, and aphex twins. Some of the best musicians are underground...you have to dig around to find your personal favorites. | |
