Anyone see the recent BBC Four 'Synth Britannia' documentary?
Worth catching on a repeat showing during Four's 'Electric' season, it's a brilliant insight to the boom of the synth during the late 70's and early 80's with contributions from The Human League, OMD, Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Depeche Mode, etc.

Hi Armani, thanks and yea, I have that BBC Radiophonic Workshop documentary recorded onto DVD for my collection. The Beeb's RW were unsung heroes of many electronic output from the 1950's to the early 90's.
It's worth checking out their recent double CD 'A Retrospective'.
It's interesting to note that the founders of the RW were all science engineers, some working for the war effort, radar, computer encoding, mathmatics, truly pioneers and masters of all things electric, putting their skill into the art of sound using the most primative of analogue equipment.
Delia Derbyshire (the woman who realised the original Dr.Who theme) and Malcolm Clarke's work are simply sublime.

I'm not familiar with a lot of what's on here, so now I'm curious. Though I agree with Random Entry that a lot of interesting, good things have come from Alan Parsons Project, certainly!!

I listen to a lot NIN which I think most consider "industrial" but it is pretty much electronic as far as I can tell. But it may not be in the same niche of the genre by that name...

Deadmau5 Deadmau5 Deadmau5!!!

Saw him here in Dallas on Friday of last week. Got his autograph.

I really like his Random Album Title album. I've listened to it over and over. Listen to at least one song off the album every day.

Tiesto is also really good, saw him not too long ago.

der,der,der,der,der,der,der... you know the sound of a stuck CD....

in the early days of CD's it was an annoying sound...and you had to get up and change the disc/track.... grrrr...

but over the years that der der,der der der... has made it's way into some good songs...
and made it's place in electronic music.... we all accept that beat now.....

it's a valid tool/sound....... a new instrument, as it were...... one of the few...

I'll bet the people who designed the CD player never thought that repetitive stuck CD sound would ever be used on purpose on music tracks...... as an instrument..

I quite enjoy it when songs break into that "stuck" sound pattern and break out of it back to the tune..... it can be very effective when done well....

I just heard this trance recording this morning by a young producer named Dylan Warren. By young, I mean like mid to late teens...Very catchy, kinda sounds like the old Dutch stuff from the 90's
