| Ever gotten smitten over a man/woman because of their posts? Posted: 2/10/2008 10:42:23 PM | I just noticed that this thread has been idle for a month, but it's hardly even buried. In the Sex and Dating forums, if a thread hasn't seen action in a Week it's going to slide into obscurity unless someone does a search for it.
When I'm browsing forums I will often see a post that intrigues me. I'll check the writer... I've even seen some profile pics that make me just a bit drooly, so I'll check out profiles based on that. I've discovered that, unfortunately, that the more likely I am to think that someone is pants-tighteningly attractive, and has a smart, sexy cerebellum, the more likely they are to live more than 1000 miles from me.
In the last two weeks or so... I've been having communication issues with my haven't yet dated Plenty of Fish catch (buh!) but still posting, because I like the writing. I've been doing an online dance with a certain Fishie... I'll find that quite often we'll post on the same topics, usually with similar, but not exact opinions. Sometimes, I'd post on a topic, and her post would appear just before mine. We were reading and posting on the same topic at the same time. The one time we "disagreed" she had simply missed the implied sarcasm in my post and took my anti-opinions to be my real opinions. We straightened out our tiff, and took it to mails.
I've said in some public forums that I'm the Adoring Mind-Slave to the Crimson Empress of Alpha Hottie Five... but I'll admit it's not entirely in jest. We just seem so in tune. I figured out that hitting her home-town, staying for two weeks, and going on a few dates would cost me about $3,000 but I'm tempted. Don't have the resources right now though. I know that long-distance internet relationships can turn into the real thing... but it's a pretty scary proposition.

| Ever been smitten? Posted: 7/13/2008 7:47:29 AM | I think that the forums are the best way to really get a sense of what a person is like - especially in a heated topic where they are less likely to think about what someone might think if they were to read that post. I have been "smitten" with a couple of people and followed their posts, only to lose interest completely when their true nature was revealed. On the other hand, I made a good friend from the local forums when it became obvious from our posts that we had a similar sense of humour and similar attitudes towards things. I have also been contacted on here by people who enjoyed some of my posts enough to drop me a line just to let me know that. Were they smitten? I guess I will never know... | |

| Ever been smitten? Posted: 7/13/2008 1:12:33 PM | I can think of probably two men who's posts I will always read because they have all of the necessary elements to attract my attention. I have never written them an email because, quite frankly, I wouldn't like to get to know them outside of their posts. These unattainable beings are enough to keep me intirigued and anticipating their next opinion. I thank them for the entertainment they have provided me with. But to say I am smitten is not quite accurate, for I am a realist by nature and smitten doesn't describe a feeling I have for someone I haven't met. | |

But I've read some posts by men and women that have really interested me or made me laugh. I agree that in posts you do reveal personal information about yourself, even unintentionally doing so.

There are some amazing people around the world who post in these forums and I've gotten a lot out of getting to know them through their posts and, with some, through email..
