I wouldnt want to date a guy who doesnt have a car. Because it means I am always going to be the sole driver, I do the driving to and from dates all the time, I do the driving if we want to go further afield, Im the one drinking coke when we go out for dinner. I would prefer someone who does have a car, the driving can be shared then.
That's a very nice and idealistic view. Men still do most if not ALL of the driving. The argument of how women spend more on dating due to clothes is a weak one simply because men have to have a car in order to date.

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/21/2008 11:26:51 AM | | Sure , why not ? Maybe she doesn't want a car. Maybe she doesn't need a car. Maybe she simply can't afford a car. What do I care ? I'm not dating her car after all....right ? | |

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/21/2008 11:49:20 AM | My question is how many of you would get turned off by learning a woman doesn't have her own car? I wouldn't be. Even if I had my own car, I still wouldn't be.

A lot of people have deluded themselves into thinking that a car is an essential necessity for EVERY person, but it's not true. Some people don't want a car, strange as that might seem to others...
Don't get me wrong, cars can be incredibly convenient time-savers, and might be essential if the city you live in isn't large enough to have an efficient public transportation system. However if you look at cities like NYC, if everyone there drove, no one would get anywhere!
Also have you ever noticed that while cars let us get some places faster, it always seems like that extra time saved is never enough? Despite the quantity of time wasted decreasing, the quality of what we do with the deferred time savings doesn't seem to be increasing in the slightest... We're just more harried, more impatient, and more irritable...
I choose NOT to have a car, simply because I do not NEED one at this time in my life/city (though I could easily buy one straight-up cash tomorrow were I so inclined). I live 10 km away from work, a direct bus ride, and live in a condo atop the major subway line, allowing me to access all of Toronto in the blink of an eye. It would just be a wasted $800+ /month at the moment, by the time you factor in car payments, insurance (killer for men), gas (skyrocketing oil prices), registration, and random maintenance crap...
So no, I would not judge a woman that CHOSE not to have a vehicle, I'd respect her for being able to break from the herd mentality and live according to her designs!

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/21/2008 4:02:52 PM | | Yes I would. I don't have a car myself. I walk, run or take the bus everywhere- it keeps me in shape. One of the major causes of obesity in North America is that people are so lazy they can't even walk 2 blocks to the store, they have to drive. It would be nice if I could find a woman who's as physically active as I am. | |

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/21/2008 7:42:45 PM | | in a big city with decent public transportation, it would be no big deal. out here in cow country, it would be a minus, but not a deal breaker | |

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/21/2008 7:48:32 PM | The follow quote is from a woman's profile that I came across:
I have a good job, car and awesome group of friends...not looking for losers that are unemployed, dont have a car or drive and pretty much are going nowhere...
According to her guys who don't drive or have cars are losers.

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/21/2008 7:55:18 PM | | If she had no car, but still got around and got her stuff done, and she lived near me and I liked her, then it would not be an issue. | |

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/21/2008 10:17:04 PM | I like dating girls with fuel-efficient cars...saves me more money on gas so I can go on more four-wheeling trips:D Plus, my daily driver's too banged up for most women to WANT to be seen in it.
I've dated women without cars. When I lived in Phoenix, and it was socially acceptable to not own a car, because of traffic and the far-superior public transportation infrastructure of the city.
Here in Cincinnati, OH? I WILL NOT date a girl who doesn't own her own car. It's just like asking me to date a girl with no direction in life, or a girl who "only does heroin once a week". Just like not having a job...I can excuse not having a job if you're a full time hardcore college student - that's a good reason. Not having a job because you're too concerned with popping out babies and collecting welfare - not a good reason.
And to the broad who thinks that people do drugs because they don't have a car...you've got it backwards. Most of the time, in car-owning cities (yes, I just said that...), when somebody doesn't own a car, it's BECAUSE they do drugs. I know this because I've bought a few cars for VERY cheap from a couple meth addicts (when I lived in Memphis...and then resold the cars for profit!)
And to the bicycle lady...that's fantastic that you ride a bicycle...I own a mountain bike, and I'm totally for riding a bike to work when it's convenient...but you're COMPLETELY missing the point of the thread, and I think you only posted to say you only own bicycles.
And to ALL the girls that are posting THEIR answers in this thread...IT'S ASK A GUY, not "HEY GIRLS, ARGUE WITH THESE GUYS WHOSE OPINION I WANTED"
To end, if there's a legitimate reason for you to not own a car, I might date you. But it's NOT convenient for me, because I live a good distance away from anywhere that you can commute only by your feet.

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/22/2008 11:22:05 AM | | Would I date a woman with no car? Sure. Why? Lots of women, but not all, would want a guy to pay for gas. And boy do I not wanna pay those gas prices...I'm perfectly content with going on a biking date. | |

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/22/2008 11:34:55 AM | I don't have a car either, but where I live the public transport rocks.
No it's not a big deal. though as others have said, it would be a big deal if they were relying on me for rides all the time (assuming I had a vehicle)

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/22/2008 12:16:47 PM | No...I live in the bush , an hour from the city , so the thought of driving 2 hours to bring her here for a weekend or whatever dont appeal to me at all. Altho if she had a conoe and a tractor I might ..lol

| Would you date a woman with no car? Posted: 5/24/2008 6:15:33 AM | haha- this is possibly the most hilarious question I've ever heard. Yes of course I would date a woman with no car! As if it matters weather she has a car or not? If she had a Shelby GT500 though.. needless to say I'd be impressed in her taste, and probably ask her for a drive of it. No- It really, REALLY doesn't matter weather she has a car or not! lolling my ass off... | |

reminds me of a youtube video, guy's wife or girlfriend gets in, eases out onto the road, and then puts it smack into somebody's house 50 yards up the street. would you still go out with her after that? roflmfao

Why not?
I mean if the girl was right for me and she liked me to and we got on really well together then to me it makes no difference at all if she had a car or not.
