Goddess,diva.princess,sassy---What do they mean?

I have not the patience for self absorbed, self proclaimed diva's, queens, princesses, or goddesses. What man in his right mind would put himself through this type of malarchy?

How about angel or sweet and sassy? Actually, some women may be kidding when they call themselves goddesses or maybe some really are full of themselves? And by the way, probably some guys like it, and some of course, do not. It's all such an individual thing. Why don't you ask one of the divas what she means by it?

Actually, one definition of diva is prima dona, which is just the term for the leading lady in an opera. Popular jargon has turned it into an insult, as we tend to do in our society - turn our jealousy into name calling. I don't know why ANYone would NOT want to be the leading lady - it takes a lot of hard work and fortitude to get there. And, being the leading lady doesn't automatically mean that a person is a snob - that's just a stereotype.

To answer your question, you would have to ask each goddess, diva, princess, and sassy lady what it means to them. Otherwise, you're just getting conjecture. How unfortunate.

Actually it comes from the ballet, not opera. But good try.

Actually, it is used both in opera and ballet. It's an Italian word, which, literally translated means "first lady." If you check the dictionary definition, there is no mention of ballet at all. It's origins are in opera.

Here is my take on these.....

"Goddess" -- others bow to them
"Diva" -- they bow to themselves in the mirror
"Princess" -- their parents/family bow to them
"Sassy"-- B I O T C H

Here is another one I love..... 'picky'

You see - 'my friends think I am picky' - be cautious
if in addition you see - 'I am picky' - RUN AWAY!!!!!

Lesseee.

I am a Goddess, all women are. Do I need to have someone else convince me of that or support me in that? Noope..
Diva. Naw. Most who actually say they are, aren't. it's tongue in cheek.
Princess.. to someone they are..
Sassy can have sooo many meanings to so many, I'd consider myself sassy, I'm a smartazz. I can hold my own yep I can get mouthy. To me. Sassy, is just being quick witted.. am I always. nope.. but I can be. laugh. .

O.K. guys here's a hard one, maybe it comes from us men... Now, have any of you fathers out there ever referred to his little girl as "princess"? Or any other affectionate term that later in life a grown woman might use because her father tagged her with it as a favorite nickname? I for one am guilty...

I have to agree with tregana - I dont look at any of these terms as a negative - nor do the quality men who contact me! The word "sassy" can mean (according to the dictionary - yes I can read and reaseach quite well for those of you who think there is some kind of link to being uneducated to these words!) "lively, spirited, stylish, chic" - I use the term sassy when I see someone with a new hair cut for example, that really is a flattering change - I say its a "sassy new look for you".

I can't believe the agressive comments on such a silly little thing! We all are what we are - some of us are not "the girl next door" type who like the "simple things in life" - what does that mean anyway? I work hard at my job and like to enjoy the money I make doing things like travel - fine resturants - and of course shoe shopping! (Oh by the way my 2nd choice for a profile name is shoe-diva!) So those would be the "complicated things in life" LOL.

I think the maturity level of the woman in question is significant. A grandmother who calls herself a Goddess is probably not the same vibe as a 22 yr old.

Personally, when I see these terms, I wonder if she's trying to convince me or herself.

Every time that i have ever clicked on those headings it turned out to be a big fat chick, SO I stay away and ignore any profile that has those words in the heading.

I'm changing my profile to include "25th level warrior elf with healing powers". Then everyone will know my true worth. Probably attract even MORE geeks, too. (is that possible?)

OK.......I'm guilty .....I use Sassy in my profile! It is certainly interesting to see that some perceive it to mean "****y, rude, lacking in personal control".. so not me.
When I refer to myself as Sassy.....I am saying that I have an opinion, I am quick witted and spirited . I am sexy and sensual.....but sassy.....so if you can't appreciate my depth of character I am not the lady for you. Men, and friends in general, think that Sexy, Sassy,
Sensual describes me exactly. It has worked for me all this time.....I'm not changing now.
As Dr. Phil would say, I am "owning" who I am.

I also agree that the search for Red Flags seems to be an excuse for some to be "non-participatory". Selecting someone to date is like any other purchase we make in our lives. You can carefully select the best melon at the market.....but until you cut into it...you do not know if it is "sweet". You select the hottest car on the lot....until you test drive it you don't know that it does not "fit" you....you can't see the blind spots...you will get killed in this car (personal experience...too short).

By the time most of you reach my age, you will look and feel like 80, because you have
frowned yourself into a retched, withered person that spent too much time looking for stop signs instead of trying to get past the caution light.

Read more men profiles and you will see some red flags too. I dont think its bad for someone to know what they want or dont want but sometimes it feels a bit negitive. I have sassy on mine but it means playful to me. I had someone ask me if I would cook stew for them on Sunday while they watched the ball game and if I wanted I could do thier laundry. Thats a big red flag for me, smile....... Advertising oneself like were all used cars is not an easy task. Be sane and laugh lots. Dani

Thank You for that answer, My dad called me princess . For him I was his darling and I would have walked through fire if he needed me to. Ive had a few men in my life call me that too but as a effectionate word. I say Im sassy on my profile and now I feel I need to delete it. It does not mean **** but that I have humor and I can run with the boys and hold my own. I have 5 brothers (2 are now gone) I also have 4 sister and Im in the middle. Oh well we all live and learn but thanks again. Hope your day is filled with shared laughter. Dani

Sassy is a completely meaningless description, and serves no purpose at all - except as an unintentionally disguised warning to the curious male to head in another direction.

A word popularly sprinkled around profiles in the uk is 'bubbly' (often misspelled as bubbily, buberly, bublie etc) which can be easily translated as 'annoyingly loud and irritating'.
