| World of Warcraft Posted: 1/27/2009 7:41:56 PM | | This might seem like a silly question, but how do you all balance life and these games? I've just always heard of how addictive they can be and don't know anyone in real life who plays them... I don't have any interest in playing, I'm just curious :) | |

| World of Warcraft Posted: 1/28/2009 11:05:45 AM | | Easy. I still go to work in the mornings and if I feel like going out to eat with friends, or going bar hopping, I do it. Warcraft is low on the priority list, life is at the top. | |
|
| World of Warcraft Posted: 1/28/2009 11:25:03 AM | | for me it fills the gap socially since I don't have anyone around. I mean, I have no problems going out alone and do quite often, but I interact socially with others during these games. When I'm dating someone, then obviously my time is more with them than any silly game :) | |

| World of Warcraft Posted: 1/31/2009 3:05:14 PM | Yeah, I am working on two toons right now, both on Bleeding Hollow(PVP) Origin - Level 71 Destruction Warlock Agorathium- Level 72 Frost Death Knight
I wish I had more time to play, but work has been eating up my schedule. I just hop between the two characters when I get bored with one of them.

| World of Warcraft Posted: 1/31/2009 7:48:48 PM | I can't believe I never came across this thread.
I was into WoW hardcore back when it came out, took a break before BC came out, then picked it up again. Got a bunch of toons' to lvl 70 and just sold them all off and bought a car and paid off my debt. Then when I got back into it, I started programming my own bot in C++ and C# and then obviously started selling gold and accounts.
Used to be fun until I started exploiting it, lol.

That sounds too much like work lol
Yes you can make real dollars from a game, but you have to invest time. That just saps all the fun out of it.
I am still in awe that people will pay to have a toon level'd for them, or buy game gold. However just do a simple search of ebay and the amount people will pay for a teir loaded toon is unreal.
A guy that was on our server was proud of the fact he payed $600 u.s. for his 4 full set toons.
I just play to pass the boring time, keep up with friends until I get my 50k HK then off to the shelf goes wow and my warr

Well, I have a job, I have clients to meet, projects to do and an outdoors club I am responsible for. On top of that, I have friends that want to hang out every weekend, family events to attend to and other things to fill in the repetitiveness of gaming. The game is fun but I have more to my life than a computer game.
My cousin in Hong Kong plays this game too. He absolutely does not go outside, never sees his friends, skips work, skips school and eat all of his meals in his room. He is addicted to it. I surmise it's because life outside of the game is lacking. He has complete control over his toon and no one can abandon him or dissatisfy him. It's just a guess coinciding his behavior and attitude.

Well, I work a job that requires me to travel almost constantly, so I only really play when I'm home for a few days/week, but the thing is when I do sit down and play I usually play for 4-5 hours in one sitting, which yes they are very addicting. Whenever, I realize it hurts to move my neck, I know it's time to stop. But, yeah, there are people who play 6-7 hours everyday, I don't know how they manage to have any kind of real life.

| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/2/2009 3:54:36 AM | | Definitely was work. $600.00 USD for 4 high level, geared toons was a pretty good deal. When I first got into it, I sold my first account for $1200.00, then I sold each additional one for $400. Then when I had friends just give me theirs, then I learned I could make more just selling gold to people on gaming forums. At first, the making money aspect (called RMT) was just as exciting as the game was when I first played it. Like both, the fun slowly died out. | |

| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/3/2009 7:08:50 AM | | If your tired of WoW try out Vanguard: Saga of Hero's you can get a free trial version on Vanguards website or Stream I believe. Warning tho, you need a pretty up to date computer as the graphics are second to none. Very fun game and nice community. | |

| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/6/2009 2:42:10 PM | Haha, wow, a thread for WoW. Recently, I haven't played it for as long as I have in the past, but it's still an awesome game, even though, Blizzard made it a bit easy nowadays, especially since Wotlk. I mean seriously, people these days are pugging raids, like Naxx which I find hilarious.
Anyways, I play on Winterhoof (I just transfered from Garona) and I am a level 80 Human Ret Paladin. If you want to know my character's name, just send me a message.

| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/11/2009 4:05:18 PM | | i played a trial, kinda liked it but i was playing eve at the time to. now im just sick of mmo's altogether. ive got 2 characters in eve-online id love to get rid of. one is 63 mil sps and is pure pvp based skill set the other has 65 mil sps and is a mission whore, can do level 5 agents which is the top of the line. if you dont know it takes like 4 years to get that many on one character. | |
|
| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/11/2009 6:47:13 PM | Very interesting POF WOW'RS.
Proudmoore represent!!
Had a 80...junked him and starting over with a hunter and warrior..both 32's right now.

| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/14/2009 1:02:56 AM | 70 Human Mage 30 Dwarf Paladin
I haven't played the game since October due to various circumstances but I'll be resuming it in about a month or so, I was even convinced to give one of the RP servers a chance!
|
| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/14/2009 4:04:03 PM | I have WOTLK and I have a level 80 NE druid/resto, 1650 sp and haven't played my druid for over 2 months.
I can only play at night from midnight to early morning and there aren't many people online at those times. On the way to level 80, I never set foot inside a single instance in Northrend, even as a healer.
I just feel totally burnt out from this game and most likely won't get the next expansions whenever they come out. I just figure that it isn't worth it. The WoW community has changed for the worse since the days everyone was level 60. Sadly, with the Armory and achievements come a new breed of elitism which is ruining this game.
It was fun while it lasted.

As with ANY addiction.... moderation! Just because it's "World of Warcrack" doesn't mean you have to be the "hardcore, no life, south park-ese" player. I usually play a couple hours after work 2-4 nights a week. Killing virtual stuff is great stress relief!
P.S. Tankadin made 80, time to up the hunter and mage from 71, and the priest from 61.

| World of Warcraft Posted: 2/17/2009 9:37:44 PM | There is only one MMORPG -- Eve-Online. All the other games are split into servers. They're not really an MMO because there is nothing MASSIVE about them -- most WOW servers hold a maximum of 3500 players. When there are 50,000 players online on a single server, like on Eve Online, only then can I consider it to be a MASSIVE-multiplayer roleplay game.
With that said, even though Eve Online is the only game that is attractive from the MASSIVE perspective, it is horribly boring -- and about as amusing as watching paint dry.

Lvl 30, Human Warrior.
Just bought the game after trying it for 10 days. It's really fun.

Uhh negative Ghost Rider. The servers max is not 3500. The high population servers are sitting at 32000+. Most just transfer to lower population servers due to lag issues.

I think he's refering to the server's capacity at any one point in time, not the population of accouts/characters (of which I account for 8 Alts on one server). Every get caught in the Queue? You're not 518 in line.... you're number 4018 trying to play. I could only imagine if all 32000+ tried to get on at the same time.
