I remember when my parents were going thru a bad time. I was offering sympathy to my mom about my dads recent passion for running for a seat on the board of freeholders which was consuming most of his time and a lot of money.
she looked out the window and sighed "well, it could be worse. he could have bought a boat."

| Women and boats Posted: 12/4/2007 8:20:33 AM | I like sailboats, and used to sail a long time ago. It was fun and challenging. I always like being near the water, lighthouses, etc. | |

| Women and boats Posted: 12/4/2007 3:17:38 PM | Being on the water is a wonderful thing.
2 hours on the water and it's all "afterglow"
a boat with an engine is better than a kayak and paddles. (takes less energy and you can go farther), but I don't mind a kayak if it's the only way to get out on water.

| Women and boats Posted: 12/5/2007 12:39:20 AM | | glad you like to fish. My brother has a boat. But we use it for utilitarian reasons. If you call fishing that. I think that women find sailing romantic. So do I in some sense. Especially sailing. But anyone who has a yacht immediately says Cha-CHING$$$$. So what's not to like. Beside, has any woman really been on a real boat? Out to sea in rough conditions. 12 foot swells? I have, and it ain't pretty. I can pretty much stand up to sea-sickness, but the most embarrassing thing is to see anyone, especially a cute girl puke her guts out. Or a tough rugged macho guy do the same. Yarrrrr, Mateys. | |

| Women and boats Posted: 12/5/2007 5:53:28 PM | I've had my jetboat since I was in college... I love to kneeboard behind it (sideways, backwards, 360 spin, jump the wake, etc.). It's also a great skiboat as well as fun to just cruise around the lake in... and if you're brave enough, it can do 180 degree turns and slide backwards across the lake... hehehe!
Unforuntately though it has only ever attracted the attention of guys dangit.
While towing it to the lake one day, a car came by me in the next lane then slowed way down and got a little behind the boat trailer, rolled down their passenger window and started taking pictures of my Sidewinder of Wisconsin jetboat. I almost flipped out! Too weird!
But I digress.... where exactly are these women that like men with boats so much and do they waterski by chance?

| Women and boats Posted: 12/10/2007 10:56:05 AM | I've been a live-aboard since ~1983. Currently on a very fast, well equipped 41' sloop.
It don't get no better than this.

| Women and boats Posted: 12/10/2007 2:24:59 PM | I'm not sure if I care if a man has a boat or not. Up until this very year, I personally, owned the most beautiful ski boat I have ever seen, as well as a very expensive Jet Ski. Then... I started my own company bought my Semi-Tractor... Next, came a trailer.... Then came hard work, long hours, and determination to succeed. With all that on my plate, taking the boat to the lake took a back burner. So this year I sold the boat and the jet ski.
As far as a man with a boat? It depends on the situation. If he lives in the middle of the desert and owns a boat, it seems kind-of odd to me. However in my case, I live right on the lake, a boat only makes sense.
In my case, the Boat was Mine, and the Men were just Ornaments. lol

The old joke is really more of a truism than it is humor:
What are the two best days of a boat owners life?
The day he buys it... and the day he sells it.... DOn't forget the other one. A boat is a hole in the water you pour money into.
That said, there's nothing quite so wonderful as messing about in a boat, any kind of boat. Even if you do only get to use it a few days a week, for a few weeks a year.

| Women and boats Posted: 12/11/2007 6:27:49 PM | No boats for this lady...motion sickness is not fun!!! | |

I'd rather date a guy who donates that money to charity instead. what fun is that? Give me a boat anytime. I'd like a mid-sized Yacht...nothing too flashy. a 80' Ferretti would do nicely.

| Women and boats Posted: 12/12/2007 7:38:00 AM | | Since this thread has to do with women and water here is a related question,Alot of women say they like to skinny dip,What is the big reason for that? | |
|
| Women and boats Posted: 12/12/2007 8:29:29 AM | | The boat per se has nothing to do with it, it's the money the boat cost they are attracted to. | |

| Women and boats Posted: 12/13/2007 7:50:22 AM | I live on my own boat (which has been described as being quite "swish") and past experience has taught me not to bring any ladies near it, they never want to leave and when they do they always come back (normally with bottles of champagne in the early hours of the morning) honest !! Why they like boats, I don't know, but most ladies do.
My excuse, i'm a professional Mariner, the sea is both my home and my place of employment, i'm 25 years on the ocean now and I look forward to another 25 (with any luck).
Regarding the money aspect, boats are generally a LOT CHEAPER than houses and the view can be changed with ease, pleasure and very little expense. I generate most of my own electricity from the wind and sun, make my own fresh water and have very few bills, I have four double cabins, two en-suite, central heating throughout (powered by eco-fuel) a lovely galley and very airy saloon area, bar, library, loads of storage and deck space and my boat is a pleasureable thrill to sail, as a previous poster mentioned, this is really "as good as it gets".
|
| Women and boats Posted: 12/13/2007 8:09:40 AM | i prefer my own boat....and a man who can rock it....................
course he'd have to call me "Captain"....and swab the decks n' stuff too...
|
| Women and boats Posted: 12/14/2007 8:00:29 PM | I live on a 27' "blue water" Yacht, it's my 1st year but this beats anything I've done so far and that's an awful lot of things including driving prof. drag cars and racing boats.
Can't a woman have her own nice boat? Google "women living aboard".

| Women and boats Posted: 12/14/2007 9:00:24 PM | I love boats. I walk down to the marina on my lunch break every day just to watch them sailing around. I find some of my greatest peace sailing and I don't mean just sitting there while someone else does the work.
Would I date a guy just because he has a boat? Nope.

I have notied a huge correlation between beautiful women and a love of boats.
Ugly people don't like boats? Or are you just not doing any studies on the ugly ones?

| Women and boats Posted: 12/15/2007 9:45:35 PM | LOL..... ummm, have you been out on a boat in mildly tossing waves? It's kinda like having sex... Or riding an agitating washer.... Could just be me... | |
