"Its funny...if the US thumbs their nose at the UN & goes unilateral, people scream. If the US follows the path of the UN, as in this case, people scream."

Q: ever think to ask yourself WHY this might be????

A: we cannot tolerate a country whose citizens elect a chimp for president.

Darfur? You mean the place where the current administration refuses to apply even diplomatic pressure to end the genocide there? Yeah, this bunch is really concerned about fundamentalist Islam all right.

You know what is having an affect? One actress started referring to the 2008 Olympics as the Genocide Olympics and now China (Sudan's biggest ally) is stepping in to stop Sudan's brutality. I repeat: one actress. If the US had shown even the slightest interest in ending this it would have stopped years ago.

Nice try. The actress I spoke of is American. Nothing anti-American here, just anti-evil.

And nothing in your post had any reference to the UN. Bush and his cronies are evil. Full stop.

You keep trying to twist my words.

The US cares. This administration doesn't. All it would have taken is a little, tiny bit of pressure on China. As demonstrated by one American with some fame standing up. It would have taken even less of an effort by Bush or Rice. But they didn't care enough to do anything.

what do u mean a tiny bit of pressure on china, we cant get them to help on anything,we tried diplomacy with china on the iran issue that didnt seem to help, also this one person thing , i mean if china did have the olympics that would not care about whatever actress it is that your talking about.in my opinion they dont care about what she is saying.one person standing up to china , yeh right, ask that one person in tenimen sqaure that got rolled by that tank , what one person can do.besides if we put pressure on china it will be just more people claming look americas trying to bully them to, do you agree this could or should be handled by the un yes or no

Outside pressure has no affect on how the Chinese dictators run their own country. But it has a great affect on how they deal with peripheral interests. You bet the fact that they are hosting the Olympics makes them more susceptible to public opinion. Which is why it would (and has) taken so little to get them to move on this. So you've got a genocide; the main patron of that genocidal regime is vulnerable to outside pressure; this bunch is either too stupid to realise it, or too disinterested to bother.

And no, this is not the time to send peace keepers in there. Yet. In 6 months or a year we can send peacekeepers in (and they'll be largely my compatriots). But first the Sudan regime has to be made to comply and only China can do that.

one person standing up to china , yeh right, ask that one person in tenimen sqaure that got rolled by that tank , what one person can do.

Once again ignorance/lies are spread as "fact". First of all, that person wasn't "rolled" by a tank. Second, he actually was successful in stopping those tanks, until he was pulled away by other protesters who feared for his life. All of this is way off-topic.

HalfTimeDad, stop feeding the trolls!

HEY ... a lot of us didn't really want him ... our votes just didn't get counted ... sigh.

I'm from OHIO. How do you think we felt when we realized all of our "Democratic" votes went to that chimp you spoke of?

OT (message 1) ...
How many people are going to get fooled this time?
Hopefully not as many as before.

my mistake

Glad to see you acknowledge it.

nobody died that day,right.

Logical fallacy: lying. That's not what I said. I corrected a factually incorrect statement that you made. I'm not going to even go into the irony of your example.

why is it that anytime somebody put a counter point to the anti- american point of veiw there called a troll

Two responses:
First of all, that doesn't happen all the time. In fact, it happens a hell of a lot less often than people use terms like "anti-American, terrorist-lover, surrender-monkey", etc ad nauseum, and raising a counter-argument is not (generally) why it's done. My second response explains why it's done.

Second, more irony. Why is it that anytime anybody disagrees with either the administration or those who agree with the administration, they're labeled as "anti-American"? Don't bother answering, it's a rhetorical question. THAT'S what makes you a troll. That, and the fact that you keep trying to drag the thread off-topic. If you want to debate the actual topic without resorting to moronic comments like people being "anti-American", then great; I would heartily encourage anyone to respond. Until then, your posts are nothing more than minor distractions for those of use who want to discuss the actual topic. Until/unless you decide to behave like an adult, I'm done with you.

I hope that clears it up for you.

Yes, just what is it in here with all the anti-Americanism? I've just read the entire thread and even the OP has engaged in slamming Americans...is anyone else bothered with this nasty anti American attitude shown by some of these northerners?
Not impressed.
