Sly,

Unfortunately it was the late game & we had no other options. Hell..A movie on the Lifetime Channel would have been less painful.
Looks like they lost Shocky for the season & Burris has been hobbled all year yet he pads up & plays every game.

No matter. I'm a junkie. I admit it.

If I'm free this Sunday and we get the Bills game, I'll probably watch him again. I think the Bills will upset them again like the Skins did. Bills could very easily be 9-5 rather than 7-7. That's the hard luck team of this season right from opening day against the broncos.
I like watching football involving NFC East teams. That division has over the years pretty much been the class of the league...and I'm talking back to the days of George Allen, Tom Landry and even****vermiel his first time thru with the Polish Rifle. Then the Gibbs, Parcells, Buddy Ryan, Jimmy Johnson years.

I have a soft spot for those Giants though ever since Parcells produced two winners in there, so watching them the last few years has been pretty frustrating. Their defence has always been real good since the time of Fassels, but seldom healthy. The offence to me, has always had plenty of weapons to work with but they never seem to get it going.

I don't see what the Giants see in this qb. It's got to be the bloodlines. Some take longer than others to develop and bloom, but maybe I'm just catching the wrong games. I've watched bits and pieces of them this season, but the four games I did watch from start to finish have been absolute clunkers for this guy ...the Dolphins game in London, the Cowboys games and then this past one.

Granted his receivers did perform their hands of cement routine flawlessly Sunday night as he did hit a couple of those guys right between the numbers on a number of passes.I just haven't seen this kid be able to take control of his offence, and he's had several years now to get a handle on this. And like i say, I think he's had plenty of weapons to pick from in that offence during his tenure there. He should be geting comfortable behind the wheel by now...and he doesn't seem to be any more comfortable back there than he did say two years ago.

Who knows. Billick proved a few years ago you can win the big one without a decent qb. We'll see how the tiebreakers play out, but i think the Bills are going to upset them this weekend and then they'll probably really need to beat the patriots in the last weekend to get in. That loss Sunday night could come back to haunt them. Something wrong with that picture where a team apparently headed for the playoffs turns in a real mediocre effort against a QB that hasn't started in over a decade.

they also had one of the best defenses ever, chances are u will need a big time quaterback.as far as the giants go they need to change that coach, it would also be helpfull if there qb and main receiver could pratice during the week together

and the problem is the giants offensive line. he is always getting hurried and sacked, especially when the giants need to make a play. when eli has to defensive players running seemingly uninturrupted right at him what is he supposed to do. brady normally has time to get a manicure after the snap. there were so many passes that eli made that the offensive players did not follow through with. off fingers, chests, pads. football is a team sport. i am perfectly fine with eli being the quarterback for the new york football giants. the offensive line has to improve dramatically and give him some time so he feels comfortable for once. he has been taking a beating since he first stepped in there and has never felt comfortable

Fishernick,

It sounds exactly like what happened to David Carr with the Texans. If they don't do something quick his career will be over like Carr IF THAT IS THE ISSUE..That said, I am watching the highlights on ESPN & it looks like all the shots he took at the endzone were into double coverage & guess what..Not a defender in the backfield. Almost every highlight shows not a defender around him. I think he is just way to predictable. His head & body movement dictates EXACTLY who he is throwing to. No fakes, no look offs. They better get him a tutor like Jerry Rhome , Rich Gannon or one of the supposed Gurus to come in & work with him.

i really believe it all boils down to the ineffectiveness of his offensive line. he has no faith in them and is always preparing to take the big hit. i watched the game last week(ouch) it was ugly. eli does make poor decisions and again i feel that ties back to the line and him feeling pressured. give the kid some faith in his o line and then lets see what he does. as far as bringing in gurus, someone like archie or peyton maybe?

Ohhhh the excuses for Eli...bla bla bla....

He is the first overall pick in the draft.....he is no better than what he was his rookie year...he should be getting better and puttinn up pro bowl numbers...HE ISNT....

I dont think he is as bad as some people think, but I dont think he is any better than what he is now....a average qb, and for the first overall pick in the draft...that is a bust...

the giants are the biggest fraud in the NFL....lost to dallas twice...lost to green bay, name one quality win by the giants this year...and I will stop calling them a fraud...

eman i know you understand football. does my offensive line argument hold no water. i watch the giants game every week and believe i have a deeper understanding of the giants than anyone else that doesnt watch them faithfully. you also know how football is more of a team sport than most(marino). so why is eli the whipping boy for the whole team. give him a chance and i believe he will and can preform

my point is this...

I dont think he is getting any better regardless of a o-line. Eli is what he is...an average qb at this point.

and for a first overall pick in the draft....that is a bust

a football thread about something other than the patriots is hard to comprehend. maybe the reason why this thread is here is so that patriot fans have something to bash when there hands are to sore from patting themselves on the back. eli is the man ning and i support him 100%. thats what real fans do. thick or thin, giants til the end.

You need to review all your statements before you make such a comment. Last time I checked you were the one that started by guarantying a win over the Pats, so expect Pats fans to rebuttal. Peace out.

Even with a healthy Shocky, Burris & O-Line they have still had close victories against below average teams. Not just this year but years past. Eli has all the ability in the world. That said, Its whats between the ears that sets a top QB above the rest. When he has time in the pocket he continually makes bad choices, bad reads, tends to throw into double coverage and take sacks as opposed to throwing the ball away. He does have heart though..I will give him that.
I will add this..he has beat the teams he was supposed to beat & lost to the better teams. Dallas twice, Green Bay, Minnesota. Their only suspect loss being to the Redskins. Keep in mind that any team in this league can be victorious on any given Sunday.

i agree with what you are saying except about the o line. he has never had time since day one he has been taking huge hits. i am not positive but i think he got creamed in his first game with a hit that made plays of the year (not for eli) . i would like to see him actually have confidence in his offensive line, then lets see how he does when he gets the time brady and peyton have. close victories are theme that us giants fans are all to familiar with, nothing is ever easy. we are a;ways sweating til the game ends

If the Giants don't get some O Line Eli career will not last that long. Also his receivers need to catch the ball and stop dropping passes.

The Giants played a hell of a game last night and you can bet the Pats were at least a little worried for most of the game.

Looking at Eli, I commented he looked like Peyton...not so much in his play (although he played as well as I have ever seen him) as the look of determination on his face. And then he stopped playing and started thinking...

Drop a snap...lose some confidence...toss a pick...little more gone...take a huge sack... now he looks like Eli. And has the boy ever heard of a hurry up offense? That was driving me nuts! Four minutes to go and they were out there moseying around like they only needed a FG. I wanted to smack him in the head.

There are always coulda, woulda, shoulda's in football, but I do think the Giants put a little scare into the Patriots. And scoring 35 points against the best team in football? The Giants did that? Eli Manning had 4 touchdown passes and only one interception? Didn't even lose his fumble? Wow! Color me impressed...

Yes, with three and change to go in the forth quarter, the Giants looked like the Eagles of three years ago against the Pats in the Super Bowl. Time running out but no sense of urgengy to be found. At least Eli didn't toss his cookies on the field like Donavan did in the Bowl game.

its not the end of the world from a giants fan perspective. if eli doesnt throw that miracle pic then the giants win the game. one mistake and they lost. i am not saying that the giants only made one mistake but that was the big one. it was the same old offensive line not the same old eli. the o line played for a little while this game and eli actually established some confidence in them. them the pats just ran through them unimpeded. like its elis fault for not even getting a second to get rid of the ball, the sack was not his fault. i was troubled by the lack of hurry up by the offense, thats a team problem not just eli. eli played a very good game and i am happy with his performance. you want to point fingers point it at the defense and the offensive line where the blame deserves to go. eli did his job.

eli played pretty good; just the one untimely pick
...it's Amani Toomer that has me wondering if he's all there anymore. He dropped another easy one last night. He doesn't seem to be with it at all. Giants led the league this year in dropped passes, so I'm not sure if these guys are surprised when the ball eventually gets there or what, but, they better fix it in the next few days.

That game against the Skins a couple of weeks ago was one of the worst receiver's displays of good hands I've ever seen. Seems to be a lack of focus or something.

I had to laugh at something they said today on Fox....they said that Manning said the reason he has not been doing that good the last several weeks he felt was the weather. WHAT??? You chose to be a QB in NY/NJ and now you are going to blame the weather??? Hello its winter. You are going to have cold, windy, rainy, snowy games.
I want to see the Giants win today over Tampa.....not sure they will...BUT the weather is good today, 75!!!!
