| What is the difference between Having Sex and Making Love Posted: 12/20/2007 11:47:19 PM | You know...I've read all the posts here on this. Most are in fair agreement on the meaning of the terms, but it seems that each post is missing a part of the answer when it comes to both "sex" and "making love". Sex , for me at least, is all that has been said here as well as being very impersonal. The partner might as well be with an artificial device...the results would apparently be the same. "Making love" has been well described in this thread as well...but the missing ingredient I've noticed is the "giving". Sure you hope your partner is pleased, but to me, it is a total and unwavering giving of one's total self to another, no holds barred.
F*(king and having sex are things I (for my own reasons) have tried to avoid, as they seem heartless to me. Making love, however, is something I've looked forward to since I was just a girl.
To answer the question:
OMG - I just had a thought! What if you firmly believed you were making love and he thought it was just sex, how awful would that be? Is that even possible? yes skit.y it is not only possible, I lived it for years with two different husbands...not fun..very demeaning, and very empty. I truly hope you never encounter it.

| What is the difference between Having Sex and Making Love Posted: 12/21/2007 12:22:02 AM | | There is screw time, some are just better practiced at it and can make a passable attempt at fooling a partner into thinking they are cared for - but let's be realistic, the nice part is a oncer. Love is something women feel, I don't think men feel this emotion, it is no more than a mating urge - I don't think they do it for intimacy and "sharing". | |

| What is the difference between Having Sex and Making Love Posted: 12/21/2007 12:30:43 AM | Sex is without the connection of soul and mind... its just the act, without the emotion and connection of two people in a spiritual level.... It disconnects you emotionally from the act. Haven't you ever heard it said, IT'S JUST SEX, NOTHING ELSE! Men can seem to favor this more then women, because WOMEN are emotional creatures, and MEN are the animal creature.... Put it this way, women are made to nourish, and care for others.... while men, where made to hunt, survive, and provide... its all about survival to most MEN. So emotions can not be a drive for a man as it is for a woman.... So I have always been told, plain sex comes easy for them. (But who knows) (Another reason why some men just roll over and go to sleep afterwards) They have accomplished the hunt... ) LOL LOL LOL (sorry guys, I had to say that!) I know... its really not the reason you roll over and fall asleep.... Is it? :)
Making LOVE, Its when two souls are on the same level of passion and desire, and their souls sore together in the passion of touching, caressing, orgasm, the act of intercourse... There is nothing on earth like it! NOTHING! Its priceless! you can feel the passion in the touch of each other hands, and lips, and everything else... Trust me, you never want the night the end! The afterglow, can be just as good!
There is such a difference between sex and making love!
But I believe they both should be a mixture in any GOOD relationship.

| What is the difference between Having Sex and Making Love Posted: 12/21/2007 3:41:28 PM | Having sex is two bodies merging together to satisfy their lust. Not feeling it necessary to be intimate.
Making love is when two spirits entwine in their moment of desire for each other. Finding intimacy joining them together in a heartfelt matter. Taking time to show their partner that they consider them and want to hear, feel and see their reactions while their in their intimate mode of making love. Sharing all the passion they feel for each other, and making it last until he can't take it anymore.

| What is the difference between Having Sex and Making Love Posted: 12/25/2007 3:53:00 PM | Having sex is the medical/legal term.
Making love is when you try and emphasize that the 'having sex' meant something to you....or her....or both.
in other words... it's like comparing an arrow bar to a hershey's bar... and trying to convince someone that they are different in taste because of the actual label given to each and the shape / design of the bar.
at the end of the day, they are both chocolate.

posted by nzeus: Sex is like painting the walls of a house. Making love is like painting (art). Sex is a "fact" of nature (like going to the bathroom/WC for ....), making love is a "fact" of life (art), ie it requires inspiration (by both, but especially the man).
Just some thoughts that flashed through my mind reading the above...
He wanted this wall done. It would look amazing when it was finished; would be an upgrade to his house. "Help me paint this," he demanded, handing her the paint brush he had picked up from Home Hardware the day before. "It'll be quicker if we do this together." "Sure," she shrugged. "I'll start over there." She turned around. "Wait," he said, noticing and liking the way her ass filled out her hip-huggers. He put seduction in his eyes as he smiled at her and said, "Come here." He had never f****d someone against a wall before.
******************************************************************
He watched her cross the room, tendrils of hair softly cascading around her features; watched the shadows her body cast as she stepped through the pools of light on the wooden floor. Words melted away behind his lips, thoughts of feelings slipped back to their primordial abyss, too inadequate to be offered. He glanced down at his hand balancing the delicate sable hair brush between his fingers. A brush he would use only this once. The skin of his hand was rough and calloused, dusted lightly with hair, scars scattered across his knuckles from days gone by. It was good this way. She would know now. His hands would speak for his heart, his mouth for his mind. "Thank you for asking me to paint you," he finally said, his voice soft. The lines of life and laughter in her face deepened, cradling sparkling orbs; and as she let the sheet drop, she positioned herself on the recliner, legs spread wide, so he could see to her very core.

| What is the difference between Having Sex and Making Love Posted: 12/26/2007 1:18:38 PM | For ME:
SEX: Alot of passionate kisses, clothes being ripped off, rug burns, pictures being knocked off the wall, bite marks, and black stilletto heels and noises so loud the neighbors stop to have a cigerette!!!!..lol with the ONE MAN I love!
MAKING LOVE: A stare across a room, our favorite music in the background... Slow, deep passionate kisses, lots of "I love you's" exchanged, deep meaningful stares, loving whisphers, louder moans, just to smell him, just to look into his eyes and KNOW your loved!!! and that it all MEANS something because it's with the ONE MAN I love!
That is the difference to me.

It's like the difference between having ice cream and making cookies.
Both of them satisfy a craving, but the first one is quick and easy — ready to go right out of the box and all you need is a spoon.
The other takes some time and the right ingredients and tools to get everything just right... Then eventually it heats to the just the right temperature — transforming it into something else that can continue to be savoured even as the heat is wearing off.
They're both good, just depends on your mood.
Can't have ice cream ALL the time.
But what if you eat the cookie dough?
