Deffinition of Average in america and Canada from statistics

I agree with (TigerWoods0294)..Weight should be set at a certain age ..Im 6ft 3 and weigh 215 pounds...I work hard to stay trim and slim...At 30 years old I was 185 pounds...by all the stupid standards Id be considered a bit overweight...I dont think so, I have a 34" waist....Still considered slim...How does one define themselves when they are obviously overweight, "calling themselves AVERAGE"...I dont know, Im lost...I see folks that call themselves average and are really obese...Does it all really matter, "Probably not"...America vs. Canada statistics, "Which are the fatter"?

oh

Okay thanks.. I was a bit worried there. I guess "average" will change as people get bigger. I wonder what "average" was 20 years ago?

The problem is that people seem to want to pick one way of using these words without regard for how most people would use them. In this context, it should be the colloquial usage of the words, and not a literal or technical use.

Coloquially, an athletic body type is toned, muscley (think six-pack abs). In this context, the term is meant to give a person a clue about how the person looks, it does not mean how fast a person can run or another measure of how "athletic" their lifestyles are. Those people who can run a marathon, but look like a stick or are pudgy may be "athletic" but they do not have an "athletic body type" so they don't need to be putting down athletic for that.

Colloquially, average body type means not crazy toned and not overweight. It doesn't matter that the average American is overweight. When someone hears the phrase average body type, they're not thinking overweight.

Colloquially, a few extra pounds can mean anything from 3 - 15. Technically, a few should probably mean either 3 or 4 pounds overweight, but it is more vague and casual colloquially. Especially since most people don't have that precise an idea of how many pounds they are actually overweight (unless they have gone to the trouble of actually finding out their ideal weight, and know exactly what they weigh now).

Anyhow, it is difficult for most people to have a really accurate picture of themselves anyhow, especially if they have gained weight. I know from experience that when I had gained some weight one year, I had no idea how big I had gotten from looking at a mirror. I needed to see photos of myself with other people to really get a sense of scale. Same with losing the weight. Sure I noticed clothes getting looser, but it really took photos (and not a mirror) to really get a sense of the weight I lost. Just make your best guesses of whether you'd be attracted to someone from their recent photos. I've met people who hid what they really look like - there will always be some percentage who purposely do this - but most people try to be upfront.

Her male counterpart weighs 182 pounds (82.7 kg), and is 5' 8.5" (174 cm) tall

I don't think I could be any more average than that...
