I have a great tea set that my son gave me for my birthday. It makes awesome tea.
There are two pieces on tray that is plugged in. One is a kettle that boils water when you push the button down - you know the kind. The other is a pot that sits on an element - keeps the tea hot for a long time!. It has an insert that will hold a tea bag or loose tea. I usually drink Red Rose orange pekoe.

Most restaurants do not make good tea. I don't think they boil the water. Tim Horton's tea (not the newer steeped kind) is good, but in some places the tap water ruins the tea.

I haven't been to many tea rooms (not really sure why) but there is one in Jordan, Ontario that serves great tea and a substantial tray of sandwiches and goodies to go with it.

Sometime there is nothing more soothing than a nice hot cup of tea.

In the morning I usualy have my coffee (New England Coffee) Chocolate Cappuccino to start off my day. Then I like to have my afternoon tea, for some time now I have been hooked on (Twinings) Four Red Fruits Black Tea. I love the smooth taste it has of the fruits, strawberries, cherries, raspberries and redcurrants. I'll add a spot of milk and a little sweetener. Sip it slow and enjoy!

Tea pot is on, the cups are waiting,
Favorite chairs anticipating,
No matter what I have to do,
My friend there's always time for you.

I like tea in the afternoon. I always make a pot with a rolling boil of water. My favorite teas are Nabob (canadian) one bag per pot. Brombley and red leaf. From argentina I like yerba mate mandarina you drink that out of a gourd and sip thru a silver filtered straw. And I love seattle spice tea and with earl grey I like putting a couple of fresh mint leaves on the bottom of the cup smash with spoon and pour the tea on top.
I have a tea cozy to help keep it warm.

The best tea house I've ever been to is actually in Des Moines, Iowa. (I know, I was shocked too.) Gong Fu Tea has about 160 varieties of tea plus everything you need to store, brew and serve tea. If you are able to go there in person they will teach you everything about the art of serving tea. If you can't make it there you can buy their teas online. I prefer black teas and can personally vouch for Anna's Choice, Cream Assam, Absolute Almond and Brandied Apricot Organic. You should definitely try their teas!

My favorite tea is Black Currant from Harney & Sons. I mail order it and buy it loose by the pound. I also like really strong English Breakfast (though I have to be the right mood) and Earl Gray. I really like fruit and spice teas. I almost always drink my tea with cream and sugar, although I'm sure I shouldn't. It just tastes sooooo good.

I have a 48 oz teapot which fills my favorite mug four times. I'll make a pot of tea about every day and heat up a mug in the microwave once it has cooled down.

hi... today and for 20 yrs my fav tea is herbal .. my fav brand is Celestial Seasonings, more specifically a Dessert Tea called Vanilla Hazelnut.. I buy organic herbal teas when the flavour sounds inviting... Tetley has a fennel herbal tea that is lovely when lightly infused... I prefer organic honey to sweeten but I will use organic sugar and agave... I just acquired some very beautiful Japanese tea cups, some with pedestals and others footed... my best tea memory happened in Hawaii at an ecclectic BandB with Ross and Hanne.. he is a well known jewelry artist in Santa Fe and he is a Shaman as well... he put on a tea ceremony for my friend and I and it was so wonderful... we made a beautiful setting with banana leaves and a kukui nut spoon.. his tea set had travelled the globe with him and the stories were filled with magic and adventure... it was so formal in some ways and yet so free in others... google Hialoakapua flikr to see his wondeful site... time for a tea, warmly Mona

But have a question...several years ago I met a couple from Kenya who made the best tea I've ever sipped from a teacup. It was a tea from Kenya and she'd brew it on the stove top with water, milk and sugar. I never did get the name of the tea but know that it was grown by his father on a tea plantation. there in Kenya.

I know your post is from Aug. '08 but...
The only tea that I know of from Kenya is called Kenya tea or Kenya black tea and is often
times blended with other black teas like Assam, Darjeeling and Ceylon.
I have never had this tea by itself but would not mind.

Another tea from Africa that has been mentioned is Rooibos red it has a mild flavor and
a nice aroma and is caffeine-free. So drink it before bed all you want.

I also enjoy a 50/50 blend of Ceylon and Oolong. It is a very very tasty beverage.

Her place is called Truly Unique. The website is trulyunique.com. Go check her out.She is very reasonable, too. She will even make up a tea specifically for you if you want something well, say for headaches and such. She runs and herbal store/gift shop. Very nice woman, too. Her name is Kay.

I grew up in London, there used to be the most fantastic store in my town called "Just Your Cuppa Tea" that sold loose tea of every kind imaginable. The aromas of all the different teas was unbelievable as you walked in. I could spend an hour or more wandering round that store. I remember my favorite being a mixed blend of ceylon, darjeeling and mango. They also sold all the gizmos and gadgets that you would need to make a great cuppa. Oh how I miss that store!!.........

I bought a lovely Kenyan Estate grown black tea called Kambaa a few weeks ago. Brewed up nice and strong just like I like my tea.

For anyone in Thunder Bay, my favourite tea shop is Steepers, and the nicest tea I've had in a restaurant has been at Fox on the Run. Actual loose leaf tea brewed in an individual french press style pot.

I used to live in Mt P too. Are you talking about the downtown area coffee shop with a frenchy name? or by the college? Turns out, my son works for a MAJOR tea company, I may be able to swing a few samples for you if you want to exchange emails. I have been trying to talk him into sending some Reps in to do a tea tasting class, let me know if you're interested.
This weeks' favorite for me is blackberry sage--sorry--iced

My mother had a tea room for years along with other ventures.

I have a screaming kettle myself and pour into my tea cup then dip the leaves or ground root in the cup.

Fresh organic ground ginger with peppermint leaves from the garden is the best in the world. I then nibble on a leaf or root bit.
A pinch of stevia, no cream.

The only bagged tea I get is some green tea or when I am out of the fresh stuff.
Avita is a very good brand. The Passionflower will mellow you out in a hot bath with lavender oil. They have about 30 varieties in the local heath food store.

People have so many misconseptions about tea and tea rooms ect.

The local tea room in town thinks high tea is a time, but
I must say it is a really charming tea room for this day and age.

They will go out of the way to make you feel at home and most of my friends get a dessert with tea. I prefer fruit or just tea.

Spicy cheese straws are really good or thin dry biscuts with real butter.
I try to avoid those.

I like low tea and a good book. I like it strong and very hot.

Microwave is out, I used to do it in a rush.

I love hot tea!!!!!!!! Thanks for the fun.

I have ALWAYS wanted a tea room of my own, with a lending library. Of course, this was a dream from childhood, but it's always lurking somewhere in the back of my mind. Being open for business on a cold, damp day, with muffins, lemon tarts and water boiling away ... me with a book by the fire. Okay, enough of that.

My favorite tea - hands down - is ASSAM ... I love, love, love Assam, hot or iced, with lemon!

Rusty I have all her recipes in various books...let me know

You absolutely should do it.
I will open my old time essential oil remedies shop in the wing next door and we will have a blast.

A lending library is a fantastic idea.

I'm quite boring with my tea. It's either regular orange pekoe or jasmine. When i have a lemon balm plant that actually isn't dead (I don't know why I can't keep them alive), I like to pull off 4 or 5 leaves, rip them up in a cup (of rip them and stuff them in a tea ball) and add some honey.

I had the delightful opportunity to go to the Huntington Estate in California where we had high tea overlooking the rose gardens. Tons of tea sandwiches, tartlets, cheeses, fresh fruits and a choice of teas. Then a tour of the gardens and houses. Ahhh, that was the life.

Anjelic, I read a book about 20 years ago ... for the life of me, I can't remember it. But, it was about two sisters, and they had a tea room that had a lending library in it ...it just stuck with me ... On the other hand, if I'm not mistaken, the two sisters were SPINSTERS!
