That is why i dont like when guys say , i wont date a girl who weighs more then 150 , because it may look "fat" on one girl . but on another , it is perfect. I agree with this totally. An athletic girl may have extra lbs on her just from muscle weight tho she may not have any body fat at all. While a woman who's actually got more body fat and doesn't work out at all may weigh less from less muscle...a flat weight doesn't always tell you anything.
I am a little over 5'6" and my BMI is 20.8. For my frame my ideal weight according to charts is 128-133, but that doesn't allow for muscle weight. I've been guessed at 125 many times, but I'm solid muscle and weigh in at about 132-136 depending on what time of day I get on a scale. Without muscle weight I'd easily be 130 or less...but the extra muscle tone actually burns calories more efficiently for me and makes me feel and look healthier.
That being said, I am also all curves...

I also prefer slim, though I can take some curves
Curves do not mean weight.....
They say Marilyn was a size 4, they say she was an 8 - frankly I don't think anybody knows what size she really was.....

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 9:26:04 AM | ^^^ From what I hear about they whole Marrilyn Manore clothing size, is that in the the 70's I can't remember exactly what year it was. The measurements for Females changed. So what was a 14 in Maryln Manroe's day would be the equivelant of a 4 - 8 in our day... I think thats why there is such a misunderstanding.. Sorry I know I just deflated a lot bigger girls ballons with that.. Thats like EVERY big girls favorite thing to say !
As far as Curvy vs. Slim.. Both can be sexy.. it defenatly depends on the individual. I tend to lean more towards the Slim side of the fence but have had some curvy ones in my life time. As far as weight goes.. There are soooo many variable that goes into someones weight. Telling someone your height and weight really doesen' do much. Most of the girls in Boxing or in Cage fighting are all 150 llbs + and they are RIPPED. Now if you were to tell me your Body fat was over 30 % that would an issue..

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 12:58:28 PM | HOTTIE I dated a girl that was curvy. She had a big upper body as far as shoulders and back,(of german descent) wasen't really big breasted, had a great set of legs, calves, thighs, feet, nice butt, and was very cute in the face. She wasen't no CHEWBACA by far. She wasen't always comfortable with herself but all women are thier own worst critic. I never had a problem with her and found her attractive in many other ways. Myself a women doesn't have to be perfect, if she is attractive in the areas of interest that are fitting to a persons liking well then it is all good? It all depends on how the eyes register to the brain. Everybody has thier own preference. | |

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 1:42:26 PM | Marilyn Monroe Measurements Bust: 36 in (91 cm) Waist: 24 in (61 cm) Hips: 34 in (86 cm) Height 5 ft 5 in (1.65 m) Weight 118 lb (54 kg) I am going with a size 6/7. If someone read size 14, perhaps that was a girls size 14 for maybe shorts or something.
Marilyn was curvy for her height, but she was also slim, 24 in waist is slim.

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 1:42:38 PM | | There are attractive women from both body types. However some women would label themselves as curvy ( or a few extra pounds ) when they are actually obese. | |

This can depend on various factors such as height and body type. One person can have an athletic / muscular build and the other person is fat. Also, a woman that is about my height ( 5' 11" ) wouldn't be overweight if she weighed 150 lbs. But a shorter woman ( such as 5 ft ) who weighs the same might be borderline obese.

Marilyn Monroe was a size 14 in 1950s sizes. In today's sizes, she would probably be between a size 4 and a size 8 depending on her exact weight since it fluctuated.

WOW.......you must be really proud of yourself.....especially when you have to go flaunting how "curvacious" you are on a curvy vs slim thread!! Now if i had to judge you by your photos id say you were slim/verging on the thin side.....with a few muscles on show.......fair fcuks to ya........but im guessing theres REAL curvy women on here who would love to show you a pic of "real" curves. Muscle doesnt = curves..........fat does! Do yourself a favour and stop flaunting yourself as a curvy woman.....when your anything but!!

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 2:46:37 PM | Curves in all the right places is good. I quite like a toned look too though. I suppose slim with large breasts and toned legs is ideal.
I prefer a few extra pounds to being too slim.

Misfit - it was the comments about her "childlike qualities" appealing to men that I totally disagreed with.
Good, good, I'm all up to challenge your veiws for the sake of entertainment ;o)
Firstly, are you a man? Or was a man? I'm not getting personal, I'm wondering why you think you know the male psyche. I don't claim to, but I'd have a wild guess that childlike qualities are appealing to some men. Maybe the reason you can't see my point is because we have completely different perceptions as to what 'childlike qualities' means. I mean that Kiera Knightley (although attractive!) has pinched features (usually a feature of growing children: as their features space out as they grow) and a slim, gazelle-like body form (much like a pre-pubescent girl).
And I'm not dissing men for liking it! Hell, if no bloke went for 'childlike qualities', I would never have got laid...ever....and I'm definitely, in no way, saying that men who like women slim and with 'childlike qualities' like young women~ Going back to my whole 'natural mate selection' theory, a 'Keira Knightley' type woman (a woman with childlike qualities!) is attractive for the reason that she can (apparently) produce for longer period of time than a supposed 'womanly' type woman.
I've covered a theory~ thats all. When it comes to dating and preference, there are a billion and one combinations to what a person will go for. Weight and body type are an extremely small fraction of that and even that's mutable. When it comes down to it, does it really matter what size or weight a person is? If they tick the right boxes in other catagories, then the weight issue becomes less significant.

1. Curvy does not always mean "fat". 2. A certain weight does not always mean fat or thin in itself, even when accompanied by height. 3. If you saw pics of me from the back, you'd know I had curves because I have a JLo ass that I don't like but people seem to think is a highlight...and you'd have spared yourself that...was it a rant? I don't think curves means one thing to all people....but if you do, well that's fine.
I apologize to the masses, I thought I had curves but was mistaken. When do I get to choose my last meal (pun intended) before the blindfold/cigarette?

I looked at your pro and you are a very attractive woman. I agree that curves doesn't mean 'fat'...and fat doesn't always mean curves! I think in this thread though, the term 'curves' is being used to depict a woman at around a size 16+ (in UK sizes). You look athletic in your pics and as you describe yourself as a J-Lo type shape, I'd say you were inbetween catagories. You have what could probably be termed as an 'ideal' figure: slim stomach area and proportionalized booty and boobs. Lucky you! Unfortunatly, you will always attract scorn from lesser fortunate women...which gives you every right to rant.

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 3:42:19 PM | | Wow Cuves do not equal Fat !!! Fat is just Fat LOL When I think of curvy women I'm thik'n of Beyonce Knowles, Kim Kardashin, Jennifer Lopez girls like that.. If you can honestly say those women do not have curves something is wrong.. I think a lot of women misuse the term "Curvy" You can be extreemly curvy and still have aver low body fat count... A lot of women who claim to be curvy a lot of tiems are Over weight, not obeist but over weight.. So quite naturally your breast are going to be bigger, your hips, thighs and Azz. That is simply because thats where women store most of their fat. However in most cases these same women have a large gut to go with it. And then you have women Such as Beyonce who has thick thighs, thips Ass , breast but also a 6 pack an slim waist also know as Curvy.. I guess you can say there are Sexy curves and Sloppy curves. Its sad where we live in a society where everything has to be so sugar coated. Saying someone is fat is worst than using a racial slure now days.. | |

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 3:43:29 PM | | I am actually attracted to various types. I have dated women who were cury and tall and short pettite. I just find different styles attractive, but that is just me! | |
|
| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 3:45:33 PM | | I definately think that Curvy is much better and catches my eye a hell of a lot quicker than thin does. Thin, like practically everyone else here has said, looks and is unhealthy. I much prefer to put my arms around a slighly fuller figure than a skinny bag of bones, sorry not for me. I happen to think that a lot of women in those TV commercials for weight watchers or other fat burners look better before than after in some cases. That's my two cents worth. | |
|
| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 3:47:07 PM | but im guessing theres REAL curvy women on here who would love to show you a pic of "real" curves. Muscle doesnt = curves..........fat does!
To me curves does NOT mean fat or muscle.
Here's my example. Years ago, I was complaining how I was too thin. My friend said to me "at least you have curves and are not like "Jane" over there who is flat"
Basically, curves means = your waist goes in, your hips go out etc. Then there are certain points as you go down your legs where there should be space and where your legs should meet. I read that years ago. "Jane" hardly had any hips and her waist hardly went in - basically if you put us side by side, I would have looked more like a woman than her and I am (genetically) one of those really thin people.
Point is, men do like a woman with more meat on them. It's a genetics thing. When men are looking to mate, they want to ensure that the mother is able to carry the baby to term, and the woman looked for a good provider.
I think this still stands for many people, especially for those looking to have children.
I also think it's insulting of heavier people to keep insulting thinner people. I don't go around calling other people fat, so don't call me a "stick". Do you really think we like that or that we all want to be that thin? I'd love to go talk to young girls about body weight and image and in fact, my doctor has encouraged me to do so. Just because the media idolizes girls who are thin to the point of being unhealthy doesn't mean I do.
People need to start realizing that there could be issues behind why a person weighs what they do. Maybe they have diabetes, lupus, cancer, chrons - all these types of diseases can affect your weight either up or down.
You just DON"T comment on someone's weight - big or small. Didn't your mother ever teach you that?!
For example, the poster above says he prefers putting his arms around a "slightly fuller figure", but then refers to someone like me as "a bag of bones". For me, that is exactly like calling someone fat. Why do most of you ASSUME that it's okay to call someone who is not larger "a stick" "bag of bones". The word skinny is like the word fat to me.
I'd also like to point out that the celebrities that we are comparing what curvy is have all frickin day to work on their rocking bods.. Beyonce WOULD have a big gut if she wasn't working out and dancing all the time.
Real women live on POF, not Beyonce....

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 3:49:35 PM | I wonder why ‘curvy’ is automatically connected to ‘extra weight’, ‘a few extra pounds’, ‘BBW’, etc.
I am curvy and petite, but in no way over weight by a few extra pounds or otherwise… when it comes to selecting my body type there is never a category for me as I am not slim, not average and not athletic.
My curves are ‘in’ for me!

| Curvy Vs Slim Posted: 11/14/2008 3:54:27 PM | Ok I admit, I didn't read through all 34 pages of responses so if you have heard this all before well....tough you are going to hear it again lol. I don't have a preference for one body type over another, there are way too many other factors to consider first. I will concede though that if someone is plus sized they have to be healthy for me to seriously date them. If you need to drive everywhere you go, even if its from one side of the mall to the other to go to different stores. If you complain about how far you have walked already when we have only gone a few blocks and lifting over 10 pounds elicits a huge complaint then maybe you and I aren't meant for each other. I like 3 hour strolls on my day off (with frequent stops to grab a coffee to keep the hands warm while walking of course). I happily cycle 40 minutes to work and have gone for 6 hour rides just for fun. You don't have to be an athlete to do those things, I'm sure as hell not. I can do the couch potato thing from time to time but I can't live it as a lifestyle. Oh one final thing, if you have curves but complain all the time about how you wish you didn't then make sure you are doing something to get rid of them, not just complaining and not just hoping for some fad diet to take off the unwanted pounds. If you can't be happy with who you are, curvy or thin, then how can you expect your partner to be. | |

You are so wrong on the unhealthy part. My wife is an administrator of a medical weight loss division which does a lot of research on weight and health, the doctors in her group travel the country giving lectures on the subject, even 20lbs over weight can be detrimental....and the BMI is crap. You have to do an actual body fat level. Muscle weights a lot more than fat and the BMI doesn't take that into account. You also need to do an RMI to get a good guage of your health and any lifestyle changes that you may need. Her division has gotten many people off blood pressure meds and Diabetes meds with weight loss.
