But can you be slim and curvy? I have an hourglass figure 32-23-40, I'm 5 foot 3, 115-120 pounds.....I 'm in the National Guard and Law Enforcement, so I work out 6 days a week 2-3 hours a day... It's funny I always hated my body growing up but now I love it, to me it's perfect and I'm proud to be a size 9/10..curves and all!!

Regardless, what decade it was, the conversions are the same. according to a biography i read about her, she weighed 75kg's, or 168.75lbs in her glory days, it wasn't till after her life turned for the bad she started to loose weight rapidly.

According to various articles that I have read about her, the most she weighed was about 140 lbs, not 165-170 lbs. If she did ever weigh 165-170 lbs, then she would have been a size 14 or 16 by today's standards.

'Curvy' and 'slim' aren't mutual exclusives.
At least not in real life.
Only online, where 'curvy' is code for 'fat' and 'slim' is code for 'less than 50 lbs. overweight'.

I think most people's ideal would be the so-called 'beach body' - see underwear and swimwear models of all sexes - they are (actually) slim without being skinny, muscular without going into body builder extremes, the girls look very much like girls, the guys look very much like guys (well, most of them, anyway).

i used to be really skinny in college at around 97 pounds. All i had was a butt. I stopped being so anal about what I ate and stopped working out all the time. I am up to about 115 and I have curves now and I like it a lot better. Now other parts match the booty and I feel a lot better most days

Curves all way , im from a Caribbean country so the women you usually find in the streets have curves , something between Jennifer Lopez butt (( when she made the movie Selena )) before she lose body weight and Salmah Hayek killer body , with the small waist from both women , can you imagine how hard is for them to shop for cloths when they find a pair of jeans that fit in the waist perfect but size is to small for their butt and hips or the other way , finding jeans that fit the butt and hips but then the jeans waist measure is to big for their small waist ??SORRY BUT BARBIE CANT BEAT THAT. no wonder they call women in my country with that body shape the truck of the meat ( in the right places of course ))

The body that I find most attractive is the Kelly Brook, Scarlett Johansson, Kate Winslet type.

The Jessica Alba - Keira Knightley type....I seem to cringe when they stand up straight and I can make out their rib cage and breast bones and their overall skeletal structure through their skin.....gross...I mean, I swear...when I see that, photos of people in concentration camps run rampant through my mind....And knowing that young girls are going to desperate measures to become that...a little freaky.

I remember a study done a few years ago about this exact thing, and you will generally get a different answer depending on which gender you ask.

In the study women generally saw a healthy curvy body as cuddly, while men saw it as perfect. What women saw as perfect, men felt was too skinny.

A recent study *yay for women* has also suggested that the bigger the hips are compared to the waste the naturally smarter a woman is.

as for a curvy bust, well, in my opinion there is such a thing as too much, specially when you risk suffercating yourself or your partner.

When she lays down beside me at night and those curves spill over on me I begin to lose interest. If I were a large person then I surely would be more empathetic with big people. I recall seeing my "curvy" mom go from near 200 to 140 and very attractive during the short time I was on active duty in the military. She did it with work and determination and was very happy doing it. I just hate to see overweight people who have the ability to lose weight not do so then whine with misery because they are bigger than they are comfortable with. I do know "attitude" has a tremendous part to do with many aspects of health and well being. I certainly wish I could keep a pleasant smile and great attitude...not always easy for many of us to do that.

This debate could go on forever!!
I have dated guys all shapes and sizes and found them all attractive.
Im a Big woman but im damn Sexy(and you have to blow your own trumpet in life cause noone else will lol) so Fat dont mean your unnatractive , its just what someone else finds attractive is important not the whole world and his mother.
Slim, curvy , fat, short , tall, blonde , brunette, red head we are all human and all have feelings and are all attractive to someone in someway life is full of choices and finding a partner for you that you have an attraction to in some way is just one of them.

Yep... I can definitely remember that two of the women I dated were BBW's and I was very proud to have them on my arm. Both were full of smiles and giggles and had super personalities. They definitely lit up my life! And, no, it wasn't about sex...it was about being with someone who liked me for me and showed me genuine attention and attraction. I've dated women 30 years younger and 10 years older and still have no preference when it comes to being comfortable and happy with any woman. I'm not a "playa" ...I've just got lots of mileage and experience and not really into promiscuity... I usually don't even try with a woman unless I feel the interest and I have the same in return. It simply is not about size or shape....those are just candy...not steaks!
But yep... I do a lot of posting here out of boredom!

What are the (arguable) Definitions of 'Curvy' vs 'Slim'
Posted: 12/14/2007 3:52:48 AM
Wow !!! It seems as if slim women are taking the bashing in today's society; the same as out-of-shape people took a bashing 10 or so years ago. Our size and shape is mostly influenced by heredity. We are who we are....Yes, I am slender...my Father was 6ft 5 in with long legs, arms and torso...my Mother was 5ft 1 in...and average when she was younger and "cuddling" as she grew older...I have the long lean bones (with curves) of my father but obviously not his height...my weight fluctuates between 102 and 106...and I do have meat on my bones....I eat what I want and when I want...and I do not count calories; although I do watch my fat intake because of a family history of heart disease.

That is not to say that I don't love a big, fat juicy steak or pizza (with feta cheese and sausage) ; but I'm not into too many fried foods...I exercise regularly...and I prefer to walk to the corner market than get in my car and drive. I also like outdoor sports (well indoor ones too), and that is just my personality. I also tend to have lots of energy so I am always doing something rather than sitting around. I tend not to work out in the summer; but does taebo and the nordik trak at home in the winter just to keep my body toned from less activity.

My being slim is not intentional; it a result of my heredity and the active lifestyle that I live...You don't have to like my body shape...but please do not attach those negative connotations to me because of it. I would never call my sister (or anyone) "fat" (what a horrible word)..for she is physically, emotionally. spiritually beautiful and perfect just the way she is....am I am the same.

in north america the mid-range of body types is curvy. bigger than that is chunking up into overweight and smaller than that is getting into the skinny realms. most people like the shape that most people fit into, and that's curvy. no matter what size she is, as long as a woman's waist is narrower than her shoulders or hips she'll probably be called curvy. of course, you're not going to find many obese women with waists smaller than their hips or chests, and you won't find many skinny women with any part of their body particularly prominent without surgery, so, most people in north american culture will prefer the curvy body.

it also matter on the culture you're in. in the caribbean we don't spend as much time obsessed about bodies, so there are plenty of big and very sexy women, and everybody knows it. in some african cultures they want skinny women with large hips for child-bearing.

in europe, which is very cosmopolitan, and physically connected to africa and asia, tastes run the gamut, but i bet, on a bell curve, the majority of preferences will fall into the curvy range.
