Posted: 1/5/2008 8:22:14 AM | I've been on this site for about 2 years now on and off.
This is the first dating site I joined. I was very inexperienced with the computer and how an online dating site actually worked.
The first time on I was too afraid to even post a picture of myself..lol.
But, I browsed at all the potential male fish, placing my top choices on my favorites in hope to get a connection. And I got one. I actually pursued him, he was a little bit younger than me but hey so what, I took a chance.
He was so sweet ,and he didn't pester me about a picture. We chatted back and forth for about 4 months, then I finally said..let's meet.
We did and we clicked, he had no clue what I looked like, and said that he was shocked at how beautiful I was..lol. We dated for 7 m0nths, but we both had so much going on in our family lives that it ended up taking a toll on "us". We are still very good friends though.
So back I went on POF..I waited for a month or so before going back on. I used a different user name. And this time I posted pictures of myself.
WELL..let me tell you..the response I got was insane..I had so many messages I couldn't read them all..and I was placed on over 120 favorites at one time.
I dated a few guys , 2 or 3. Then got fed up and left POF again for about 6 months.
Again I gave it another try. About a year later...current day" I'm ready to leave again. I've had only 1 date in all this time. I've been asked out quite a few times, but they never followed up on it, or I realized they weren't for me.
I think I just need to take a break for a little while, so I won't delete my account, just hide it.
I'm going to attempt the real world now..instead of hiding behind a screen..lol.
I'm not putting POF down, it's actually a great site, but I guess like everything in life..it's what you make of it.
I'll be back...or...maybe not...lol. | |

Yes, and have met some buttholes, too, especially one who is not worth mentioning. No prince yet, but I keep on trucking. It's nice to have the company of this site while being kinda lonely!! | |

Posted: 1/6/2008 4:34:03 PM | WOW - OP if you (could) put as much thought and energy into actually being a Good Man and preparing yourself properly for an Adult Relationship, you might find that this site, local bars and laundromats are NOT the problem after all!
What's with people thinking that as soon as they put up a profile or send out one of those random "to all women" type emails they will find their "soul mate"?
If 'you' aren't willing to put more into it - dont expect more out of it.
I've been here for awhile too and frankly, I like this site! I enjoy (most) forums, have made some great friends from all over the world (male and female) and I've Even had a few dates! woohoo!!
If you aren't having any luck, I would suggest you look a little closer to home for the reason. Attitude is HUGE in the dating world, so are confidence and maturity. Blaming the "site" for your 'bad luck' is a sure sign of a Bad Attitude, Insecurity and a serious need to 'Grow Up!'
