| KC & Surrounding Areas: LET'S GET FUNKY! January 26th, 2008. Posted: 1/27/2008 12:53:35 AM | | It was a great time! I met a lot more people than I did last time, cause I took Gummi's advice and circulated. Got to sit with a great group, though, and had some fun conversation! Looking forward to next time! Hope everyone got home (or wherever) safe! | |

| KC & Surrounding Areas: LET'S GET FUNKY! January 26th, 2008. Posted: 1/27/2008 10:53:00 AM | I just got home a few minutes ago myself. I found out that the FunkyTown capacity is 600 and we had 100 reserved seats and those were all full before 9pm and we had some standing. This was the largest sign up to date (142 members) and the largest attended event for us to date. I have no idea how many actually showed but here is what the POF effect had on FunkyTown. They had a really long line outside trying to get in before 9:00pm. They were so packed they started the music at 9:15pm which they had been doing at 9:30pm. I heard that some people had left rather then wait in line. They stopped letting people in due to max capacity at 9:50pm and I was told they wouldn't let anyone in until 10:15pm and then only 10. Thank God my brother and his wife were the 9th and 10th people in line hence the 10 getting in . We had a great mix of people form young to old and lots of new people. Love to see those new people get out and mingle with us. I hope they will come back. The first event is always the hardest.
A couple of quick notes. I had a few of the new members mention the possibility of wearing name tags. Not going to happen. Had some comment that they didn't know anyone and didn't know what to do. I suggest mingling and introducing yourselves around. Everyone has to take responsibility for themselves and their own fun. Most that attend will have a good time. Most will come back for the next one. Some won't have a good time and will not come back. That is reality, not everyone likes the same things and not everyone will have a good time. Some are more shy then others and have no idea about how to go about meeting new people or how to use this site and the events. It takes time to learn these things. The more events you attend the more you learn, the more people you meet and the easier it gets. I have to admit, I am selfish when I post events. I have been involved with these types of events for the past 5 years give or take and I have learned to go with what works. I post at places I like to go not where others like to go. I post so that I can meet new people and I want to meet people that like the same types of things I do. So I post where I like and people have the option to attend or not and the option of posting their own events and having their own rules if they aren't happy with the venues I chose. I hope everyone had a good time and I hope those that came for the first time will come again. Coming is a good thing right ? And most importantly I hope everyone made it home safe and sound.

Char ought to be nominated as Julie McCoy Cruise Director Extraordinaire! She took John and Lois and me under her proverbial wing and makes sure EVERYBODY has a good time. She is one dancing fool! Didn't meet nearly as many of you as I wanted to - I was too busy just being out on the dance floor but next time... Ellen

Posted: 1/27/2008 12:01:27 PM | | I don't think name tags would be a good idea, however, it might be interesting if we wore something that indicated we were with the POF group. Something with a FISH theme. Guys could wear hip waiders and a cap with fish hooks stuck in it. Know what I mean?

That seems to work pretty well, except that everyone in the place wants to be a fishy and glow too. I'll get some if we think it will help.
We might also try Friday night instead of Saturday -- it's much less crowded. AND - I don't work Friday nights.
