| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/19/2007 11:20:38 AM | | ^^True. I used to receive emails and pics from a non gay guy in Toronto. He used to ask for fashion advice. I have to say that he did have good fashion sense and looked quite fetching. | |

| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/19/2007 12:49:48 PM | | I find it odd that the word fag is acceptable in the forums but not b.itch. I'm not saying I think it should be banned. But I wonder what the thinking behind that is? B.itch is a word like fag which is used as an insult. But many gay people use the word fag so I think the thought is that it makes it okay BUT many women proudly self describe themselves as a b.itch. Also the word b.itch is used in different non offensive ways. Such as work was a b.itch today. It was such a b.itch driving in holiday traffic. All he does is b.itch, b.itch. b.itch. I think the word b.itch is used more in a generic acceptable way and by more people than fag is. So why is b.itch censored but not fag? | |
|
| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/19/2007 2:29:22 PM | The acceptable usage policy of any given website is seemingly random.
On a couple of sites I am on, the general attitude is "they are words, if you find them offensive, please do not read them"
On other sites I have visited, I have been drubbed over the head by the spell fecking group for the fact that I habitually use what is referred to as Queen's English, the version of spelling I learned first back home). Which I have always found rather humerous considering the fact that I am prone to being rather neat with my spelling and usage. As are most people that are ESL.
So the question is, when does offensive become so much so that you have the need to enforce controlled censorship? especially in an adults only forum (such as for example a dating site).
I can understand racism being frowned on, and I would personally find it offensive, but in closed forums or even email, is it really appropriate to control/limit the current usage of your userbase?

I agree that it is strange that one word, fag, which almost always a negative connotation, is allowed. B.itch, like fag has several different meanings. Maybe the gods on high don't assign any negativity to fag.(Maybe they are chain smokers) I guess it is just another oddity for which we may never find the answer.
On a lighter note, the Mominatrix informed me today that I was referred to as a "B.itch-Fag" so maybe this kinder and gentler new word can make it into the lexicon.

| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/19/2007 5:56:47 PM | I heard a news anchor refer to fag as "the other F word" I think the word is becoming more inappropriate in civilized conversation nowadays. | |

| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/19/2007 7:32:03 PM | Dear Gay Guy, It has come to my attention that truck stops have become the new bath houses. I have seen the writing on the wall in a truck stop bathroom and it seemed to confirm that this is true. Why do you suppose truck stops have become a hook-up spot for gays? I'm not a trucker and I'm sure you have never whored yourself out at truck stops so please excuse me if you think I am stereotyping here. | |

If a woman with a gay man friend is called a "fag hag", what's a man with a lesbian friend? Eager for a threesome.
|
| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/20/2007 8:25:00 AM | LOL Bob. But no, I mean friends as in the opposing equivalent of "fag hag". Besides, one plus one equals two, not three. | |
|
| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/20/2007 9:05:16 AM | You all are gonna love this. I just checked the "big book of GAY"(the interweb):
I mean friends as in the opposing equivalent of "fag hag".
Apparently, these folks are referred to as a"Dyke Daddy"
Oh and young straight guys who hand with lesbians, esp. masculine ones are called..... "Dyke Tykes"

Please feel free to use that if you like
|
| ASK A GAY GUY Posted: 12/20/2007 9:24:34 AM | "Dyke Daddy" is funny but "F*cked up, Insecure, Neurotic & Emotional" is downright stupid and offensive to lesbians and their male friends. Would you say that about the friends of gay men too? Ug. | |
