This is all about warning young people to the dangers of steroids. There are many other dangers. This is one of the problems young people might encounter.

And as far as sports being only about money...yes, for the most part that is true. That's why I prefer college sports to professional sports,
............^...you do?........but then your statement below indicates that there are athletes who are juicing for the chance to get "noticed".
I started to take steroids when all the college/pro scouts I were talking to kept telling me if I gained 25 more lbs they give me a serious look. And sense I didn't have a lot of time to gain it naturally I started juicing. Hey call me a cheater but it was either that or miss out not getting a scholarship or a signing bonus. I eventually got a full ride--academic and athletic and then got off the juice.
...so you got yourself a scholarship...thanks to the juice!.....you then say you got off the juice (but you didn't give a reason why), but then are you the exception?.....what woulda happened had you stayed on the juice?..would you have had a better shot at the pros? ..............so assuming this is what is going on at the college ranks then why is it a better alternative to the pros, if the same thing is going on even though on a smaller scale!

| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/25/2009 11:39:42 PM | | listen, if you need steroids jsut to get a scholarship, you arent gonna go pro. if you need roids to go pro, you aint gonna be an all-star. see what im saying? if you need roids just to get there, you arent gonna be the best person once you get there. IMO many people do steroids in the pros and college, but its not always the superstars. as you jsut seen, some people need roids just to get there. So it really is a prevelent problem. As far as it being a problem because little kids want to be like their heros on TV, thats the job of the parents to explain to their children whats going on and to inform them of the bad things in the world. If you expect the tv to set a good example for your kid, you obviously dont do it yourself. think about that. | |

| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/26/2009 12:11:56 AM | | It wasn't just because of the juice. I had the ability--steroids didn't make me a better ball player, just got me thicker. They wanted to see me gain weight...not improve my skills. Just simply gain weight. So I gained weight. My game didn't get any better, although I have seen many players that have improved their game from takings roids. I got off them because they test for roids in college randomly and it's impossible to get around it--unless you do an "oilchange" or something along those lines. Or you go to a small school where they only test a certain amount of the athletes. And honestly I was never intending on being on them for an extended amount of time even if they didn't test. I got what I wanted out of them. And brother, if you ain't got the skills to get a scholarship or go pro those scouts won't talk to you. Period. How many guys do you know that get calls from the Mets, Tigers, and Reds that don't have the ability to get drafted? If they didn't think I was draft worthy they would not have taken to time to call me and come to my games. Same goes for the D-1 coaches. My ability was always there, they just wanted me at a heavier playing weight. | |

| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/26/2009 12:23:36 AM | So you cheated ? easier then working hard? If you had the skills and it was worth it? Why not get it done? Is this the attitude you will take when you face a difficult task? Just cheat? By the way, your expert knowledge on roids? did it come from other short cut experts with like minded cheating ways? Think about this..... Your information about getting bigger came from individuals interested in making their program better, at your expense? making you better? Think about this, will anyone trust you now? | |

| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/26/2009 12:42:22 AM | | LOL no, I don't feel guilty so the guilt trip isn't going to work. I did what I thought I had to do. No regrets. Looking back on it I definitely think I could of gone another way, but live and learn. We all make mistakes. You can label me whatever you want but makes sure your hands are clean before you start pointing fingers my friend. | |
|
| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/26/2009 4:22:56 AM | I did not cheat my team mates that earner their way into college. You cheated your team. You cheated yourself, your parents and now you talk about it like it is no big deal. Simple matter of right and wrong. Steroids are wrong! If your okay with this tell everyone on your team how you cheated them. See how they react? | |
|
| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/26/2009 7:47:30 PM | | id really like to know how he cheated his team... Its not like he made them worst. if he feels he made a mistake, then he obviously learned something from his experience. you know what? suck a big d!ck. If someone came on here saying they did heroine but got clean, you would be saying how good it is and shit, but if someone does roids and realizes they made a mistake its too late and they should rot in hell. I'm sick of it, seriously. PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES. we're all human, and looking back is a lot easier than looking forward. we do what we do because we're human, we dont always see the ripple affect of our actions. So the guy did some roids, big deal, who cares, not like he cheated people out of money and shit. christ, you people would prolly be happier if he said he killed someone but was really sorry. grow up. | |

If you expect the tv to set a good example for your kid, you obviously dont do it yourself. think about that.
Not everyone has the luxury of having parents be there for you 24/7. some parents work 12-16 hour shifts just to make a dollar and put food on a kid's plate. so then who do we learn from? the people that treat us like our friends, the f--kin streets.
but as far as steroids are concerned i think that people just over look the reality of being a celebrity in the world of entertainment. SPORTS is a cash cow PEOPLE, and sports has always been about winning, i think the other guy said "otherwise we wouldn't keep the scores" or the stats or the averages or the baseball cards or the bells and whistles, we wouldn't really care about the "Legends" if it weren't about winning. Sports in media and entertainment has ONE PURPOSE: MONEY$, cash, mulah, dough, cream...etc.
and then, it's all in how you take it, if you love sports so much, then you'll be offended by the cheaters because they're doing everything in their power to leave you in the dust and get to the top. Sports is a testosterone fest, and the juice fits like a glove!

| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/26/2009 10:38:51 PM | | im nto saying you have to filter what they watch. Hell, kids should be allowed to watch whatever they want. They should just realize the difference between right and wrong. Theres nothing wrong with a kid watchign UFC for example, as long as he knows better than to go around headkicking his friends. | |
|
| STEROIDS and PEDS in all sports, your thoughts Posted: 5/26/2009 10:40:05 PM | | which is where the parents come in. People always laugh when people say "videogames made me do it" so why is any different for people playing sports? if people arent educated nothing changes. Inform your kids. | |
