@ Shappy- is this the song you were looking for??

SPIRIT OF THE WEST

HOME FOR A REST

CHORUS:
you'll have to excuse me, i'm not at my best
i've been gone for a month
i've been drunk since i left
there so-called vacations
will soon be my death
i'm so sick from teh drink
i need home for a rest
we arrived in december and london was cold
so we stayed in thebars
along charing cross road
we never saw nothin' but brass taps and oak
kept a shine on the bar
with the sleeves of our coats
-chorus-
euston station the train journey north
in the buffet car we lurched back and forth
past odd crooked dykes
through yorkshire's green fields
we were flung into dance
as the train jigged and reeled
you'll have to excuse me, i'm not at my best
i've been gone for a month
i've been drunk since i left
there so-called vacations
will soon be my death
i'm so sick from teh drink
i need home for a rest
take me home....
by the light of the moon she'd drift through the streets
a rare old perfume so seductive and sweet
she'd tease us and flirt as the pubs all closed down
then walk us on home and deny us a round
-chorus-
the gas heater's empty, it's damp as a tomb
and the spirits we drank are not ghosts in the room
i'm knackered again, come on sleep take me soon
and don't lift up my head
'till the the twelve bells at noon
you'll have to excuse me, i'm not at my best
i've been gone for a month
i've been drunk since i left
there so-called vacations
will soon be my death
i'm so sick from teh drink
i need home for a rest
take me home....

There are two songs that always hit me like a punch at the kidney.

"Against all odds" by Phil Collins. Makes me dream. She was soft, her hair smelled nice, her body was warm.
"Time after time" by Cindi Lauper. Whenever I hear it, it's like somebody places a slab of concrete on my shoulder.

I don't think kids would get the story too much, but ok

Shappy is walking, and Miss Stacey comes up and shows Shappy her beaver " I am Canadian all the way"
Shappy takes the Miss's and gives the beaver a pounding

Ahh someone else is gonna have to write this, I am getting hot already lol

That Cindi Lauper's song reminds me of a girl I was "just friends" for a couple of years. I suffered a lot, being the good friend while she ... well, you can guess. Anyway, I never listen to it willingly. It's always by chance, perhaps it's the next song in the radio, or somebody's listening to it next door. Last time I heard it was at the mall, I was having lunch and suddenly WHAM! it was in the PA system. After all these years, it still has an effect on me.

The other song, I danced it at my prom, with my first girlfriend. It brings me memories of better times, and better feelings.

Tango, I'm so sorry, but I had to laugh..

You said when you hear " Time after Time" , it feels like someone places a slab of concrete on your shoulder...then you said you danced to it at the prom...and I thought "wow, that girl must have had one heavy head." because I pictured you dancing with her head on your shoulder....got a little confused...the songs were the other way..

Sorry...it just hit me funny...

But, the song that gets me all weepy is "Separate Lives" That was Phil Collins and some chick. It's just sad....

You read it backwards. My prom song was "Against All Odds", by Phil Collins. "Time After Time" was... well, yes, it was something really heavy.

BTW, Phil Collins is great.

"Toto" by Africa.

"A Horse With No Name" by America (I think that's the name of the group?)

"When The Bullet Hits The Bone" by Golden Earring.
