Well it likely has been answered in the other replies but I do believe that is "Home for a Rest" by Spirit of the West (BC Band) That is a kick-ass song... and even more so when you have been touring some foreign country and take the CD up at a Hostel bar and get them to play it...

I did that in Oz the Canucks had to all jump up... and considering,, many of us had been drinking much of the time we were there.. it hit home a little more

Who remembers Baltimora's "Tarzan Boy"

or "You Spin Me Round" (Like A Record) by Dead Or Alive
and then there is "A View To A Kill" or "Hungry Like a Wolf" by Duran Duran

Now I remember the name "Spandau Ballet" but I'll be damned if I can remember what songs they did I think one was called "True" or uh huh huh haaaaah hah" .. I just remember hating most of their stuff...
.. but there were sure some odd names for bands in the 80's (Haircut 100????)

Aaah hell here is an 80's list of memorable songs that came to mind

"Big Balls" - AC/DC

"Cum on feel the noise" and "Bang your head" - Quiet Riot

"Down Under" - Men At Work

"The Lovecats" - The Cure

I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls

"99 Luftballons" (AKA 99 Red Balloons) - Nena

"Jessie's Girl" - Rick Springfield

"I Love Rock and Roll" - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

"Good Thing" - Fine Young Cannibals

"Loveshack" - B-52's

"Safety Dance" Men Without Hats <=- killer video Ok you can add PoP Goes the world to this one too..

"Bela Lugosi's Dead" - Bauhaus

"Mr. Roboto" - Styx

"My Sharona" - The Knack

"Tainted Love" Soft Cell

"Rosanna" - ToTo

"Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" - David Bowie

"Ballroom Blitz" - um.. well I forget who did this.. I want to say Pat Benetar

"Luka" - Suzanne Vega

"Jenny 867-5309" - Tommy Tutone

"Thriller" - Molester Jackson er... I mean Michael Jackson

"Rock Me Amadeus" - Falco

"Physical" - Olivia Newton John

"Valley Girl" - Frank Zappa

"88 Lines for About 44 Women" - The Nails

"We're Not Gonna Take it" Twisted Sister

"Mickey" - Toni Basil

there is an endless list... I wonder how many I'll be able to name from years 2000-2010 so far there isn't a very memorable start

Atlas already mentioned The Lovecats by the Cure, but my favorite retro song would be another Cure song, Boys Don't Cry

"Don't you forget about me" Simple minds

Some weeks ago, i was in a potluck with a bunch of cousins, and started to play 80's songs. We played about 200 songs, from A-ha to ZZtop. The eighties were the decade of rock. Rap doesn't compare to it.

Paint it Black
Brown Eyed Girl (I must be on a color kick)
Stairway to Heaven (Overplayed, but classic)

And, for the record...whoever brought up Air Supply...that is the ONLY band to ever make me cry.

So many songs...it is scary...nothing today strikes me the way these songs do...

I cant say it's my all-time absolute favorite but it's one of my faves.......

"Is She Really Going Out With Him" by Joe Jackson.

As far as retro-sounding currently new music "It's a mistake" by the Bravery sounds VERY 80's.
