If a woman is looking for a relationship with one man...then she needs that one man to appear interested....call, show up, stuff like that you know....if he cant manage that, then she needs to keep her options open...and can you blame her???? | |

Maybe because various guys offer various "dating" scenarios? I've dated movie/video/couch guys and hiking/beach/activity guys and dinner/theatre/artsy guys (although not, so far at the same time), but if by some miracle a movie guy and hiking guy and an artsy guy suggested doing something in an overlap-type scenario, I'd have to decide which I wanted to do most, and with whom. Mind you, this "choosing" fantasy is NOT what goes in in my real, dating life ... but I GET the MULTIPLE concept, for both women and men, during the dating phase of their lives.
Mating, of course, is different. | |

Because they can?
It only happens because the guys let it happen. If you don't like it, don't date a woman like that. However, the more attractive women are more likely to be dating multiple guys.
The underlying problem is that you are more interested in this woman than she is in you. You have come to think of her as your "one and only" when she clearly does not see you that way.
The best solution to the problem is to be dating multiple women at once. | |

Posted: 6/25/2008 2:20:36 AM | Of course, the downside is that when the guys figure this out, and they almost always do, they will dump the woman in a heartbeat. No guy wants to get stuck raising another guy's kids. If overdone, the woman will lose all of the guys.
It is actually harder for guys to pull it off the multiple dating thing, because dating can be expensive. A guy can only afford to pick up the tab for so many nice dates. The women, on the other hand, get to date for free. The more they date, the more free meals and drinks they get!
On the other hand, in our society, women have the most power before the commitment is made. Once they settle on a guy, they usually are expected to take a more subservient role. Viewed in that light, it actually makes sense. The only problem is that so many of the pick the WRONG guys for the WRONG reasons. | |

Posted: 6/25/2008 4:21:20 AM | When at the grocery, I look at all the selection of a particular produce product. I don't just take the first one I see--I have to look at it from all sides. The front might look great but the back may be rotten.
I have on a couple of occasions (it is either feast of famine) dated multiple guys at once, but before you think I was using them, there were dutch dates and I was not sleeping with any of them. One ususally begins to outshine the others. Guys do it too. People are even in a relationship and a better one walks by and pooof, they are gone.
The bottom line is to be clear that you are dating others. If it is not acceptable, they will let you know. I dated a guy once and he on the onset told me he was dating multiple women, I did not have a problem with it but it did not take me long to figure out that he was not the one for me and he eventually settled down to date one woman. That is why it is called dating, then engaged or married. Serious dating usually means one to one. Man this sound like high school. | |

Because some men are stupid enough to continue seeing a woman when they know thats what she's doing.
Some men are driven by competition and *think* that if they win out over the other guys ...the women is *somehow* worth more and that she Loves him.
Wrong...maybe she's just selfish and you're the dummy who's pandering to all her needs with absolutely no concern for yours.
A woman who's honorable & just as courteous in her attentions to you as you are to her...is the woman you should bother with.
Dont expect a woman who shows no interest in your wellbeing...to somehow magically develop that quality down the track.
It wont happen.
If she *does* happen to do something sometime (throw the dog a bone) that you *think* shows some concern for you, you can bet your life its because she's motivated by what she wants in return...and its not her feminine inlove "giving" nature thats doing it. | |

Read it again...I said some men are driven by competition.
You shouldnt have to compete for someone's Love or their "like" for that matter.
They either Love you or they dont... and they dont make loving them or being with them difficult. ie. they shouldnt make you jump through hoops or play games and mess with your emotions and your head.
Its not real difficult to figure that out either. And it certainly doesnt take dating 6 guys at once or 10 dates with each of them to come to the realisation something is there or not.
People who genuinely need THAT length of time (which I just dont believe)...either dont really give a shit about you (my point)...or dunno themselves well enough and/or arent perceptive enough of other people IMO.
Honestly...why would anyone waste time on another person waiting for them to decide whether or not they "like" you.
If the situations were reversed, I wouldnt have anything to do with a guy that approached people like that. I dont get involved with someone who clearly has the dumbass gene so blatantly displayed in their DNA sequence. | |

Once you sleep with someone you should say yes decide to have a relationship or get away from them.

Don't confuse this with sleeping with multiple guys at once.
It is easier to keep one's mind clear, and stay grounded instead of turning into a junior high girl etc if you don't put all your energy,heart, & soul into one person until they do. Been there-done that!....Doesn't work to wear your heart on your sleeve....It sends men running no matter how well you click!!! It's a pain, but it is what it is. | |

Some, maybe, want this competition or are interested mostly in that, the winning, rather than the woman.
But IMO/IME, some men we accept the reality of competition, either active, in multiple dating by women, or implicit/virtual, ie the "competition" a man date against a woman's "ideal man". In either case, some kind of "competition" always exists, as in most facets of life and Nature. And IMO that is the reality whether we accept/realise it or not. But between "some kind" and actual official competition as in Dating Games, the Bachelor, etc, there is a lot of "water" in between, of course.
