when did DATING become so complicated?
how can one decide that a new person of interest is "the one" ? j-ello??
when you make a connection with an "interest", email a few times and they seem promising, how does that equate to they becoming the ONLY one to concentrate one? does one or a few emails cement a commitment ??
leaving one's options open and not banking on a couple of positive interactions as narrowing the search for "the one", seems sane.

Anniversaries should be for those who have been in a committed relationship, for an agreed upon part of time, as a year or so.
A woman who dates several men at a time, should not expect me to be committed to her. If I am dating several woman at a time, I will not depart from my raising, by lying about it. | |

So why do women date multiple men at once? Why can't you date one guy at a time? It's so frustrating when they don't know the correct information about you... I don't get it...

How about when a women dating me has multiple personalities.
Yep, On Fridays I had to call her Becky, but on Saturdays I had to call her Cindy.
It was fine until one tuesday afternoon when I bumped into here at the DIY Center and I say, " Hey Sweetie" (playing it safe..  ) . She introduces herself as Debbie, acts interested. As she jots down her number to give me. She informs me that she's a nice gal, and only dates exclusively. That she is here buying rope, duct tape, and a sawsall. cuz her bestfriend/roommate Becky's lover is cheating on her with a girl named Cindy and they are gonna take care of the SOB this friday. | |

People should keep their options open because if you "put all your eggs in one basket" you'll end up getting hurt fast. Typically it is to find the "right one"... hence the whole concept of going out on "dates" and getting to know people until you meet THE person...of course there are also many other "reasons" that people date multiple people- some don't want a committed relationship, others want multiple sex partners, some do it for attention, for some it's just the thrill of the game, and others to fill various other voids in their life or relationships...however, I personally think that "dating" multiple people at once kind of defeats the whole idea of giving a person the opportunity to be the "one" when you meet someone that you would like to get to know better...
When you find THE person that has all (or at least MOST) of the things you are looking for in another... you no longer have the need to keep looking and going out on "dates" with multiple people when you have found someONE that captures and keeps your full attention that can move you towards an exclusive and committed relationship...or at least I don't...but until then...
However, I do also think it is important to be honest about your actions and intentions and to be up front about what it is that you are looking for and seeking out...that way nobody gets hurt and nobody is wasting time with the wrong impression... | |

Women won't have sex with these dudes either so it is a win win situation for her to continue to date other dudes even if she has a boyfriend. Don't be surprised if your girl is still dating other dudes.
But dudes can do that too. Just date other chicks and have fun with it. You don't have to settle down with someone but if you see something you like, you should at least give it a chance and see what's up as long as it doesn't hurt the relationship. I don't believe in all that you gotta be true to your girl stuff. I don't think it is wrong to see what else is available even while you have someone else. As long as you are still spending a lot of time with someone you like, I think it is all good. | |

I wish guy's would wise up and stop catering to women who laugh at you for being stupid enough to spend money on them. I had a response recently from a woman (and I say that half heartedly) that she "LOL get's lots of free meals at all her favorite restaurants lol"
Also, be leary of women who have things on there profiles like: I'm looking for a travel partner, I always wanted to go on a cruise and I like fine dinning. | |

Posted: 1/3/2009 11:25:31 AM | Yes!!!! I can !!!!  I really struggled with this when i first got on POF. I've never really dated. I've had three serious relationships over the span of 20 years. These were all men who were friends first, same circle of friends, grew up with them....basically i had a pretty good idea what I was getting into. Here I am now, 37, single mom, took a big leap and moved to a city where I don't know anyone outside of work. I'm not desperate so I won't hook up with the first man I have a cup of coffee and good conversation with. I'm comfortable enough in singlehood to take my time and look around.
I guess the question is, what do you consider "dating"? If it's sleeping around, that's a no-no. I kinda see it like I'm interviewing potential life- partners. Coffee, dinner, a walk in the park....to me a date is getting to know eachother, not sleeping with eachother. Look at it like an employer trying to find someone to fill a position they have available. Do they hire them on the spot? Sometimes, but rarely. They interview many people, weigh their options, decide who will work best with their company. If you get a call-back, you've captured their intial interest but someone else may have also. So put your best face on and bring it!

Man..what do you guys date???? Most women I know work for a living and are more than capable of paying their own way.
For those PEOPLE who are out there mooching with no intentions of being in a relationship.... set up dates before hand that it should be coffee, dutch treat... or a walk... or meet at a bookstore... you'll weed out women like that in a heart beat.... | |

I believe in instant chemistry. If u click u see that person and give it a shot. If u dont click dont bother goin on a 2nd date.
I would argue that 'instant chemistry' leads many down the road to ruin.... I've had people grow on me ... I think taking a deeper look takes maturity... it also means you don't get burned by that 'instant chemistry' ... and possibly finding someone special beyond the face they might show the world.... | |

Posted: 1/3/2009 6:21:28 PM | | Guys are guilty of this too,,,, but anyone who is a serial dater and dates multiple people at once,, I think is trying to boost their self esteem since they may lack it- and they like the attention-who can blame them ?I dont necessarily think there's anything wrong with this, as long as theyre being honest about it, but if theyre doing it behind your back, that's a whole other issue. Youre going to have to step up your game if you have alot of competition. But if she keeps confusing you with someone else, I'd move on. | |
