OP's stating the figures for this dating site (or that's the way I understand it).
This is probably even a little bit too weak to make generalizations about the women on this site.. There's no real verification of whether the information in the profiles of women taken into account is true. These are just conclusions made basing on some figures. I don't think anyone should feel offended by them. :-)
I have no idea if there's really something in these statistics or not. I'm not a sociologist and uless you tell me 70% of women on this site smoke and are looking for IE, I'm not jumping with excitement.. ;-)
I can only say, from personal experience, that the figures are not relevant for women I know..

I don't really like the last grouping of data. It doesn't necessarily mean anything. Drawing the conclusion that "women who smoke are more likely to cheat" from that data seems erroneous.
Smokers being more likely to cheat is not drawn from the last set of data. Though I admit, I would like to see this market research.

The only way it could be scientific fact is if they randomly picked thousands of smoking, anonymous women and surveyed them. Even so, there is a 3-4 % margin of error.
We have more breakdown than that from research psychologists alone. Granted, it would be nice to see some better citation. Margin of error is determined a function of sample size to total population; it is not absolute.

Perhaps a woman who is more inclined to seek pleasure from chemicals such as nicotine is also more likely to seek pleasure from sex and can considered to be higher motivated to seek pleasure, or at least less inhibited with it.
Of course we cannot logically make such a generalization for many women will (and do) protest loudly, but it may apply to just enough women for the trend to be noticed.
It is with regret that I have noticed many fishies present profiles that are interesting and engaging on many levels but I note the deal-breaker; they smoke. Like other men here, I have difficulty with smokers in my vicinity. Even if they do the actual smoking outdoors, the lingering smell in their hair and clothes assaults my nose.

I can't figure out how being a smoker makes me 'more promiscious' or more likely to 'cheat'. I'm impressed with your percentages (even more impressed that anyone would take such time and interest in such a thing), but I'm thinking it's more of a precieption of woman smokers. Personally, when I'm in a relationship, I'm loyal. There were some years when, if not in a relationship, I'd sleep around. However, I found that to be detrimental to my own self worth and stopped doing that. These days, if I'm alone, then that's the way it is until I meet someone special. Meanwhile, where are my damn cigarettes?? | |
