Posted: 12/25/2007 7:55:17 AM | I use to smoke and quit in 2005. That just seems ridiculous to me. I was married when I smoked and practically a nun. So that wasn't true of me at all.
Maybe they assume that since smoking is not longer politically correct, that if they still do, they are willing to push the envelope or break the norms more. Who knows. But statistics can be skewed to say anything you want, so unless you know the peramiters for the survey, and how they picked the participants you can't know if it means anything. Even then, the results of any survey are iffy, and need to be considered with a grain of salt.

It isn't saying that smokers are individually more likely to be promiscuous. It is just saying that a higher percentage of smokers are promiscuous.
Say you examine the data regarding young men and auto accidents. You'll quickly find that men under the age of 25 pay higher rates based on the statistics. It doesn't mean that we're all bad drivers. That doesn't stop insurance companies from charging us more to help cover the higher risk of insuring us... | |

Everyday. Statistically men who engage in porn WEEKLY (not daily) are far more likely to cheat or have extra-marital affairs, and 84% of men indulge in some type of porn WEEKLY. So....YOU do the math! Does that mean that 84% of ALL men are just worthless pigs? Most would be correct in saying yes, but not because of this statistic but based on fact. Because they just are. Hey, I'm just the messenger...PERSONALLY, I think people are individuals and should be judged as such. Of course, there's no causation to be found... one doesn't cause the other.
And those of you who smoke but are not promiscuous, remember this is not everyone, this is averages.
I'm not sure where your cheating line comes from. Are you assumiong someone who puts married or living together is on here to cheat??? I think that's taking a leap. They could be married but divorcing soon. Or they could have been single but found their sweetie on here and are now living together...and still participating in the polls.
I'd break it up by what someoen is looking for...I think that would be much more interesting. looking for friends, ltr, hook up, etc.
I have a good friend IRL, that smokes, eats horribly, doesn't exercise, etc. She knows she is killing her body, slowly. Risk behaviors. Yep. Is she promiscuous? Well, she does not cheat, but she is just "living together". Of course, she hates his guts, just can't easily get out.
Also depends on how you define promiscuous. Need to operationally define it.
