Mike,

Do not tell her first. I know it sounds childish...but it could destroy what you've got.

Re: "Tis better to have loved and lost..."

Actually, the quote is not from Shakespeare, it's from Canto 27 of Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem "In Memoriam A.H.H." (1849). The last two lines are usually taken, out of context, as offering advice on the dissolution of a romantic relationship. However the lines actually refer to the death of a beloved friend:

-----
I envy not in any moods
The captive void of noble rage,
The linnet born within the cage,
That never knew the summer woods:

I envy not the beast that takes
His license in the field of time,
Unfetter'd by the sense of crime,
To whom a conscience never wakes;

Nor, what may count itself as blest,
The heart that never plighted troth
But stagnates in the weeds of sloth;
Nor any want-begotten rest.

I hold it true, whate’er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Shakespeare, of course, had a lot to say about romantic love. Here are some of my favourite quotes (more applicable in your case than Tennyson):

Love sought is good, but given unsought is better.
-- Twelfth Night, III:1

...Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or Bends with the remover to remove.
O, no! It is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken.
It is the star to every wandering bark,
whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
--Sonnets, 116

Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.
--Hamlet, II:2

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind;
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.
--A Midsummer Night's Dream, I:2

My bounty is as deep as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite.
--Romeo and Juliet, II:2

I think there are different kinds of love.....Yes some are lust and some are like. Some are pity and some are just confusion. But I believe you can love someone without "being in love" with them. Don't we all have different kinds of love for our spouses, our parnets, our children, our pets. Why is so hard to fathom then we can "love someone" without wanting to be married to them. Alot of us get so caught up in the words "LOVE" and "RELATIONSHIPS" and "MARRIAGE" that we do not allow ourselves to just love, care for and want to be around someone. Lets not make it love something that has to be defined...lets just let it be.

That would take away a lot of the fears and apprehensions people have about the 'L' word, wouldn't it? That would be a wonderful thing! If you feel it, there should not be any fears in expressing those feelings.

Love the poems and quotes.....perhaps if you have to question IF you are in love, then that itself is your answer

~OP~ You tell her when you are certain you mean it. What she does with that information is up to her. I do agree that 8 weeks is a fairly substantial time and it wouldn't be odd or strange to feel love for someone at that stage. It's all about what YOU think/feel. If she doesn't respond in a manner you like, that's the chance we take when we let our hearts lead us. Best of luck to you.

Forget all the rules and taboos of not expressing how you feel. Just call it like it is. If your in love, be in love man. Enjoy it, express it, and show it.

Love is an over-used word that is written far too frequently through written and verbal correspondence. You have strong feelings for her, no doubt. You should show your feelings through physical, that is the manly way. Not through poetry, etc., hence I got a C in poetry and would get dumped fast if I attempted such a passage. Just do what you're doing. Its working, don't try to get mushy....

8 weeks seems a little fast to me...one guy said it to me after 5 months and it still felt fast...a little scary to hear I must admit...but then again...every relationship is different so I guess you have to go with your gut. Only you know what you feel.

truthfully , I don't think time matters . sometime you just know. For me, every time i thought of him i caught myself smiling, anytime he touched me my heart skipped a beat, and I can't imagine a time with out him. I catch myself thinking about him all the time. Don't listen to what everyone else says, just listen to your heart and you'll know.

I would wait and feel her out a bit.........see where she is in the relationship. You telling someone you love them might make them feel burdened with your feelings when she is not feeling the same....................

then she might distance herself because she is not ready..........

JMO.................. and good luck

Don't tell someone you love her...SHOW IT. She will be able to tell by your actions. If she can't tell by your actions, perhaps you should find another woman.

"Qtipp"

Now....For The OP!

Theres a difference between INLOVE and LOVEing somebody so yeah he could "love" her but NOT all the way to being "Inlove" with her yet and 8weeks is enough time just don't throw it all on her at one time, try saying it in a way where she KNOWS how you feel but yet knows you aren't rushing things with her....Trust me on this.

If thats the way you feel you should tell her. Just make sure you are feeling love and not lust, and NEVER lie when you tell someone you love them.
