Slightly off topic, but the OP looks EXACTLY like a guy that was arrested on an episode of COPS tonight.

On topic, move on, bro. You can't put toothpaste back into the tube.

iamnotsinfuld, You are wise in the words you write. If you aren't a counselor, think about that profession. You'd be great.

We all have misconceptions about the opposite sex based on bad exs. We begin to believe that all of them think the same way or act the same way.
You get a little age on you and some experience under your belt and you go one of 2 ways.
You adopt the mind numbing attitude, tht is is all the same, and no good.
You hold on for dear life and pray you will emerge better off having tried, whether win or fail.
Personally I know most " good " women are terrified of the rebound guy, we all know the next person you connect with catches a lot of backdraft. Nobody wants to be the rebound and nobody wants to be on the rebound. It does not matter if you wait years or weeks there will be a backdraft of what you have learned.
A few pearls of wisdom , Love is hard work, Trust is earned not given, If they cheat once, they will again.
Date the minute you decide you want to. Take time to see what the other person is saying about things in their past. All the funny ex stories tell you a lot about how people think. Good Luck

Doug,

Sorry to hear about your break up. For me I wait til the day that I go through a whole day and realize I have not thought about my ex at all. I know a lot of people say that you should "get right back on the horse after you fall off", which is all well and good if both you and the new lady knows your history and what you are both there for., but in my personal experience I've found myself unable to use someone as a stepping stone to get over a relationship, however much they might have been willing to be that rebound guy. Hope that helps ;)
