HNY to all of you...
I was by myself with my 2 dogs and 3 cats...we had a great meal and by 10:00 we all snuggled up in bed, I could not ask for more. All of us are healthy and happy!
Actually I am so tired of hearing the word "alone", c'mon, get out, see the blue sky, go to a lake and watch nature...stop being focused about yourselfs and don't take yourselves so freakin' serious!!! Life is great...

yep alone again..in the sense of a mate..but i worked until 11 and then went home and watched grandkids ..blow horns to celebrate the new year...
but i do agree..u can be in a room full of people and still be lonely..if the one u are with is not the one u want....
may the new year bring each and everyone of u the wishes u need for the new year..
god bless

What a good question, there are probably quite a few who were home alone. I am way over 50. I am not sure if that makes a difference except perhaps the 30 crowd is more likely to go out and party.

The answer for me is I was home alone. It was really a great evening. I took a hot soaking bath, put on my fuzzy robe, lit candles throughout the house, listened to all kinds of music, thought about stuff, and worked on a small painting hoping to get it done last night but did not. Also, I was privileged to have my long time flyfishing buddy call and we talked about the movie "Cigarettes and Roses". It was really a heart felt conversation about our role as a man and a woman succeeding in our friendship over the years despite the misconceptions, fallacies and fantasies of the opposite sex we have to shovel through to genuinely relate with the authenic person behind the male or female persona. It was a great conversation. Then spent the rest of the evening listening to Bob Dylan and John Lennon, working on my painting while waiting for the stroke of midnight. I had a online date with a very special cyber-friend to bring in the New Year which turned out to be very fun. We shared a cyber-kiss and it was good....my first kiss in I cannot remember when. I might have try out a real one someday with the right person. I was alone but not alone, a nice way to bring in the new.

Happy New Year!

Between 1974 and 1994 I played somewhere EVERY NYE. Since I got out of music, I look forward to being home alone in my quiet house reading a book on NYE.

Amateur night....

we talked about the movie "Cigarettes and Roses".

Whoops! The title of the movie is "Cigarettes and Romance." Roses ? Where could that have come from? lol. If you have a chance to see the film it might be worth your while.

I can party any other time of the year and drink champaigne with a crowd of people if i wanted to. Didn't feel like it this time.

I decided to treat NYE like a regular nite. Watched a movie in peace & quiet and fell asleep halfway ...woke up on the coach.

No regrets at all. Merry 2008.

I try to remind myself that I am never alone but it appears that I not only spent Christmas alone but New Year's also....funny I have a very large family but most of them out of state or teenagers that have their own agendas. I am not complaining as I have several animals that I could hug and wish Happy New Year to. I think that no matter where you are or who you are with....all your feelings are yours and how you perceive your situation, as alone, depends on how nice you are to yourself. It is upside down to think that by having someone around it would cure you of your loneliness...only you can cure that.

I had a house party and invited family, friends and neighbours over for some food and drinks so it was pretty good. Lots of kids for some of them it was their first New Year Eves party so it was a good time for everyone.
Best to everyone in the New Year

Spent the first 1 in 17 years by self. Had a few drinks made a few calls. It was better than I thought. Got told off by a few people but who cares. It was good xx. Been out today with friends so that made up for it .

Spent NYE alone for the first time in my life ....still got that nasty flu .
Had a few options but was in no mood to party. The parents didn't want me over! LOL
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, actually enjoyed the peace and quiet and after midnight I made some phone calls and sent some text messages.

Spent the evening with family. So I don't look at it as being "alone"... just single.
At least Im not currently sad over being "dumped", or wondering why someone hasn't called, or left bewildered cos someone stood me up (ya that happened not too long ago... RUDE!!) Dating can be such a chore can't it?

Looking upon this year as a positive one, whether I meet someone or not is neither here nor there.
Being happy is the key, and if I can be happy single (ya I know cliche cliche, I hate those too) then I can be happy with someone - ooohhh maybe Im full of ish...

Honestly? All I can say is "Happy New Year" to everyone... I wish you all the best in your searching

My wife and I usually stay home on New Years but this year because we wanted to see Defending the Caveman again for our anniversary gift to each other and because the only date that was even remotely close to our anniversary was New Years went ended up getting tickets for that. Had to drive an hour each way in a snow storm and the guy that performed it this time wasn't nearly as good as the last guy we say perform it. He seemed too timid and apologetic to be a caveman. I can't remember the last time I've ever spent New Years alone.

I am not sure which is worse, to spend New Years Eve curled up with a movie and some popcorn, enjoying your own company - or to spend the evening with a big party crowd, and to be slapped in the face at midnight by the realization that you are alone.
I think that next year, I will choose the first option. I met some really great people last night but the drive home was a cold one. Reality tends to do that to you sometimes.

I spent it alone with my 2 cats!! :-) One I did not want to go out with all the drunk drivers on the road and well 2... I would rather be alone than be with someone that treated me like crap. My X called, the same one I was with last New years that was very abusive. He left me a voice mail and I just laughed!!!

But, as I stated I would arther be alone, than to sit in a bar with a bunch of drunk guys hitting on me, and or to spend it with someone whom cares less about me.

hopefully the next new years will be better, but I am not sad, at least I enjoyed myself!! nothing wrong with that!!

.

Some of us (five couples and me the only single) came out to the lake for a semi-quiet long weekend. Someone planed on partying, though, as I noticed three cases of booze carried in. The party was nice in that we had all sorts of fancy food and just about anything you could name to drink. But, just after midnight I wandered down the road to a little cottage my family has and left the couples in the big house to mellow out while they discuss grandkids and stuff.

Therefore, I sat typing on an old, slow laptop with an Internet connection over the county’s Wi-Fi network. But happy, though, because I got to IM two nephews stationed in Iraq and then a pretty lady friend who has been AWOL from here for a while mailed me.

Yup, life is good and it was a happy New Years Eve.

Happy New Year, everyone.

I went out to Jack Asters with a friend for my final night of really greasy, buttery food. She was really quiet and I think that something was wrong but she wouldn't tell me, it was really depressing when there was no conversation. Some friends called and they were going to go out and do something but they wanted to go to the Backally, I ain't into loud bars and such(I declined the invite). I didn't want to be packed into a small area around a bunch of drunks and smokers on new years(Especially at 30 bucks a head). I went home and a another friend called and was having some troubles so I went out and talked to her, but she fell asleep before midnight. So at 12:30 I went home and had a snack, watched some tv and off to bed I went. I hope that this isn't a look into what I'm going to be experiencing this coming year. There is alot of things to experience and people to get to know this coming year, I just gotta keep an open mind.

Happy New Year everyone.

First time in 40+ years that I would be alone, Decided that I couldn't handle it,
waited till 11:30 went to corner bar, had two beers, watched the ball drop,
came home, turned on tv, and snoozed off,
I also spend almost all my time alone anyway.
Maybe not best solution but worked for me this year.

I spent New Years Eve at my brother's and sister in laws-they had a lot of friends and other family members over-welcomed the New Year in and then headed home-spent today alone (no special guy to start the New Year with-but that's okay) and I'm watching football-just saw my team lose-bummer!

Over 30.. and yes alone for NYE.......except for my son..... Guy I was kind of dating and thinking may be someone I would like to have a thing going with text-messaged me on the day to say he is hanging out with his son instead....... ha, ha, ha........ Guess he is backing off ....He really should have used the phone......Would have been much more appreciated and accepted...Anyway, its good to start the new year with good understanding on either side....

It's going to be a great year for me..... I can feel it......
