| Long Distance Online Relationships Posted: 6/16/2005 7:04:43 PM | | I met someone from Scotland,I'm in Ontario,Canada. We talked online for yrs, then he came here for a month..I went there for 3 weeks. We talked about him moving here, we were planning to get married just b4 christmas three yrs ago. A week after I got back from Scotland he ended it. It devastated me, there was NO warning. I felt like I wasnt worth fighting for, like he just gave up on me, on us.It took me over 2 yrs to get over him, and still not sure I am. A word to the wise from someone thats been there..Please be careful with long distance relationships..they're alot of work, and they can be very painful. | |

| Long Distance Online Relationships Posted: 6/16/2005 8:20:46 PM | | NaviB70= been there and done that one too - Winnipeg to Ottawa for about 8 months - very difficult to lose your heart isn't it. So often the romance has taken your breath away but you are trying hard to plant your feet firmly... I lost out to a local gal and it took me months to recover from that one - if I ever will completely recover?? Havent given up on the distance thing but getting guarded about getting in to deep. Distance takes time, money and commitment on both parts and eventually one must be forced to move but love holds no boundaries in the long run. Agree with better to have loved and lost rather never having loved at all. Local is easier but who ever said I did things the easy way? | |

| Long Distance Online Relationships Posted: 6/16/2005 9:49:05 PM | Well I jump across the Strait of Georgia regularly to date women in Vancouver. It works out to about a four hour journey but all my old friends live there so I make the trip fairly often anyway. I've had two women from this site and one from another as casual dates there in recent months. The two from this site decided to get together with long-term prospects who were local....can't really fault them for that. The other one I ended because the travelling was getting out of hand. My newest Vancouver interest may or may not work out...it takes a special kind of person to want to have long-distance fun. | |

| Long Distance Online Relationships Posted: 8/6/2006 7:51:46 PM | | Ok I enterd this forum cause I just recently became official with this guy I met almost a year ago now, well not quite a year I would say 9.5 months but October will be a year that we met online. and talked and talked for like that long well as of Thursday night he came out and told me how he felt about me, I was totally shocked..but in a good way cause I was falling for him and I was happy to know he felt the same way. We've talked on the phone and we cam once in while. He likes me for me and yes that even includes little faults I have everyone has weakeness about them..but anyhow,,what I am wondering is How long have Raven and Bizie have you been chatting online together? When you plan on meeting up. I do wish you both the best....as I wish this new relationship with my boyfriend the best. He's in Ontario as well as me but just 12 hours difference. But we even talked about meeting half way. | |

| Long Distance Online Relationships Posted: 12/9/2006 11:29:25 AM | In the beginning years of easy access to the internet, when there were sites such as yahoo and a couple of others that offered free personals online, I met a man through a chat service called ICQ.
My goal was simply to chat with people from other countries. I had online friendships with several men from all over including places like South Africa, Greenland, Ireland. I had no ambition to meet in person. I just enjoyed the friendship online. Then I started chatting with a man from Vancouver, BC, Canada. I live in Georgia, USA. We had an instant connection, decided to meet and were together for 8 years. Sadly, we divorced this year.
Back out here looking, but don't think I will fish so far off this time (even innocently.) Just goes to prove love will get you when you least expect it, so don't temp the fates.

| Long Distance Online Relationships Posted: 1/24/2007 11:21:39 PM | | I havent had to travel very far to meet someone but the problem that i face right now is that the one that i have met has possibly relocated to another province. We are both from Ontario. Started talking online in August 2006 Met the end of October and had a great first meeting. Met again only for a couple of hours 2 weeks later then he left for Alberta on the 22 of Nov. Was suppose to return home by the 3rd of January but is still presently out there. Has now been offered a job there but has asked me to go out there with him. I have a 16yr old daughter that will be going to college in a yr and a half. Her and i have discussed the possibility of me going out there and i know that she will not relocate with me. I have come up with some options that she is okay with but know that i cant do anything until she has her G2 (graduated licencing in Ont) that way she doesnt have to rely on anyone to drive her places but that wont be till july of this yr and her dad is close enough to her that he would be there if she needed anything. I own a house but think that i dont want to sell it on the off chance that things didnt work out i still have a place to come back to so i have a very good friend that would live in it and also let my daughter stay here too until college. Am i nuts to think that this could work???? i knowtoo that i have a job if i go out there but is it worth leaving everything that i know behind??? | |
