However. You are absolutely correct about the liars and players seeking the biggest challenge. Its like aphids who will always go after a sick plant. They can smell you a mile away.

Very, Very well said! You should have said "miles" away!

I agree with the misrepresentation, to a point. Where it does no harm or gross misrepresentation of yourself. I never use my correct birthdate always out by a year or 2 at most. How many "credit report" sites are out there that may not be real, asking for your S.S.#, or other seemingly valid sites requesting sensitive info. I would always come clean to a person upon meeting them, as the info provided wouldn't be such that it should make a difference. The internet is a breeding ground for scammers and "bots" searching for names and all the little details to put together a nice little profile of you. Not everyone is aware of the dangers that the internet poses with some sites asking for as much info as they can get, especially when it has nothing to do with their site. For financial transactions, I deal only with a select few payment processers.
My age may be 48,49,or 50 possibly 51, depending on which month I use.
I am not being paranoid, just cautious. There have been enough shows on TV about how people are losing their identities which affect their lives drastically just because a person got a couple pieces of info and found the other pieces to the puzzle with a little more searching. There are sites that will sell you info. and credit card numbers, etc.

It is the "Information Age"

Actually, "Purxtc69" is absolutely correct.
Waaaaay back when the internet (s...sic) came into everyday, everyone usage, one of the very first warnings I heard regarding use, was NEVER EVER indicate your true birth month/year. Ever.
And years later? The capability of tracing your full info with just a first name and accurate birth month and year can dredge up more info on you than you'd believe!

If you were born in '76, in May..do NOT reveal that info ONLINE. Period. Nutting to do with unfounded paranoia...just commonsense.

Now for me...I always say I am waay older ...and then the "Wow! You look GREAT for your age" comments roll in...hehheh!

Sheesh! I was raised to avoid the " age and income" subject upon first meeting folks. It's rude. How many people do YOU ask the age of upon meeting the first few times?
Rude.
Unless, you are a bouncer or bartender....

Hi,

Many people are careful not to share their full name, so their birth date won't reveal much.

I think it is important that a person states their real age - most people give a lot of thought to the age range they select. If a person who is outside their specified range chooses to contact them, they can evaluate the individual profile and decide if they want to make an exception. No one needs to lie.

In the original post the guy was 57 and said he was 54. Three years makes a difference when you are very young or aging. There is a bigger difference between 17 and 20 than between 21 and 24. A man who is 57 will be 60 in just three years . He can order from the senior citicizen menu at many restaurants.

Honesty if the best policy.
I never lied about my age.
When I am on "dating mode" I would post a recent facial shot, as well as full body shot so men can make their own conclusions about my body type.
When we finally meet, they always say I look better in person.
I offer to show them my drivers license in case they question my age, none of them ever ask to see it.

Re: Msg 135 I'm curious what planet you are from?

On Earth, this surly isn't the case! Oh yes, we tell that to small children
just as a lark, along with stories of the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus,
but then alas, they grow up, and hopefully discover, before any real
psychological damage is done, how the world really works and protect
themselves accordingly.

why do lying cheating and stealing all go to gether! What a discussion.

Heres my story. I do look younger and I dont care. I just do. People often go no way, youre not fifty and one guy I was working for said, now listen youre almost forty now so...Im fifty dude!

I used to post on chat sites and shave off years to meet appropriate ladies and somehow it seemed I always would get replies from some fifty five going on sixty five who thought she could get away with lying...

Finally I jsut went to forty and omigod, a wonderful 32 yer old was seriously interested in me. Now what do I do! So I was honest and she didnt care and we wrote and...life happens.

Next chapter is that I posted as 53 and another wonderful 37 year old actress who was amazing wanted to meet me, and we had a great visit...still not love, but if you dont focus on age, your viewer wont focus on it. And if theyre searching narrowly, their loss.

Women if youre a little older and want men a little younger, contact them. If youre pretty, youll hear back, if thats what YOU want...but there are men your age who look just as youthful. A neighbor is 63 and skis and kayaks and youd swear he was 48. But hes kind of a dope...

So go ahead and lie people. Make your excuses...You only hurt yourself. You will learn at some point. Mabye at ninety if you live that long!

Yea, I recently met a guy who has his age on here posted as 36..well when I met him you could tell he wasn't 36, but I felt really rude questioning it...after another date he told me he usually dated women in their late 20's and early 30's and he was actually 45!!! Lets be honest...that is a 9 year age difference and yea, if you are going to lie that much there is something wrong..i can see fibbing a year or 2..but 9?? Especially when 9 years is very obvious..clearly he wasnt 36....i just figured he aged poorly! LOL

anyway..he told me he lied as he is attracted to younger women and they are too him and he feels and acts like a 36 year old....he said he could never of e-mailed me as my age range in mail settings blocked his real age...go figure!! For me, I never gave any more energy to him as I figured he was lying about alot of other stuff!

dunno...dont care....poof! Gone!

I recently encountered someone who lied about his age in his profile but disclaimed it later in the body of text. He was in his mid 50's and said he was in his early 40's. He admitted to me that it was because he wanted to attract younger women. But, I saw three main problems with his logic. One, the age he posted was way too young for his appearance in his photos; my first thought was that he looked terrible for his age. Two, if younger women are not interested in older men, lying about their age doesn't make them any younger, so those women are likely not to be interested in them anyway. It's really not about the number as much as it's about life experience and goals. Three, his profile name or headline was something like "HonestyFirst" or HonestyAboveAll". So, I thought that lying about his age was rather ironic and hypocritical of him and told him so. I also said that if he was lying about his age that he probably lied about more important matters too. He replied that one lie does not beget another and actually quoted scripture to me. That was too much. lol

The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of people who lie, cheat, etc. And, of course, there are varying degrees of dishonesty. So, we need to stay on our toes and recognize the deceit and try to avoid it to the best of our ability.

I have no idea why a person would lie about his/her age.

If a person is going to be less than thrillled with going out with me because I just turned 42...well...okay. I'd rather know that from the get go.

I am what I am. I'm 42 years old. I have two young-adult children; I work two jobs; I'm going to school to be a nurse; I love heavy metal music, and for exercise I run, and for fun and exercise, I take pole dancing classes.

If that's not okay with somebody in the dating pool *shrugs shoulders* oh well.

Oh get a life you people. You are either attracted to someone or you're not. Age is just a number within limits. If you were in bar and saw someone you liked, you wouldn't go up to them and ask their age?, would you. You would like what you see and get on with it. The trouble with dating sites people put a age range in and could possiable miss that special one they have been waiting for. In the grand scale of things there are more important issue people lie about and age isn't one of them.

Most people seem to lie about something or other on their profiles.

I think you need to look at the severity of a lie in each individual case. Shaving a couple of years off one's age, although still wrong, is not as big a deal as a woman who claims to be single with no children - only that you discover at date NUMBER 4 that she is in fact MARRIED with 3 CHILDREN.

i too have had a few experience of men lying bout their age. the worst one was saying that he was 35 when infact he was 45. whilst most women are not really bothered about age, being lied too is a whole different story!! it is actually an offence under the sex offenders act to lie about your age on the internet!!!

The lying about their age probably isnt that big of deal. But from there he or she says they are a widow instead of divorced. Then they say they are white when in fact they are black. So the way I see it you basically dont know anything about them. Kinda sad when you think about it. This person actually said they were older than what they were, I suppose it was their vanity. Maybe they make a great looking 52 y/o when they are actually 47. I didnt really think about that till just now why would someone say they are older than they were. Believe this my friends, I do know someone like that and they are on here. Kinda sad, really. Oh well really none of my business but dont think you know so much about someone on here till you really get to know them.
Actually you know what they want you to know.

Why would you lie about anything? The truth will set you free.

I also feel that most people start slow and then it snowballs. It only counts if you get caught, right........? Least ways that seems to be what the general popluation is willing to put up with.

I have enough trouble keeping the truth straight and in the correct time sequence. I don't want to have to remember a bunch of little fibs, fantasies or wishful thinking and etc to keep my stories straight. Golly Gee Wally, when did lying become so acceptable?
