| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/5/2008 3:17:11 PM | Living in D/T Toronto I don't have to drive anywhere, everything is within walking distance for me. That being said I have too many forms of transportation, cars, motorcycles and bikes, enough for a family of 4. I like to drive, to go for a ride in summer and when time allows to take one of the cars to the track. That being said I don't think I would rule someone out as a "date" if they didn't drive. BUT I have been in the situation where a non driver said those of us who own cars are just materialistic and/or are compensating for other things. (types like her I avoid like the plague) Taking the TTC on a date is fun, it allows more time to get to know one another, and if you are like me, it's a great place to play... | |

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/6/2008 6:21:17 AM | | I also live in downtown Toronto, and I can get pretty much anywhere I want by transit. I'm always early, too. It'd be different maybe if the interested person lived in Oshawa or something, but downtown TO? fuhgeddaboutit | |

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/7/2008 2:19:20 PM | I dont drive myself...if i did stay off the sidewalk Thr public transit is pretty good here living in the GTA and I have no trouble getting around. In the winter its obviously not as fun! lol
I wouldnt expect my girl to be picking me up/drop off all the time and if she was willing to do that for sure Id give her some gas money or whatever else she might like

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/7/2008 6:59:52 PM | | After living 18 years in the downtown core of Toronto I have realized that I do not need a car to get me around town so if a guy does not want to date me because of that then $hit happens he is missing out on a great woman! Although I have recently decided to get my license as I am planning on moving in the next 5 years and other than the GTA the transit system sucks! As a few other posters have mentioned if he is concerned of becoming their taxi service why date her in the first place? JMHO | |

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/8/2008 11:21:35 AM | I live in what one would call "the sticks."
There are NO buses, unless you consider the Sandycove bus that takes the seniors into Barrie on week-ends.
The only way to get around is the good ole ankle express if you live close to the "downtown core" or take a cab.
Owning a car where I live is a necessity so long as you don't have to leave the area.
Perhaps someone putting on their profile that a love interest has to have a car, is cause they live in an area like mine or the country! Ontario is much larger than Toronto and it's surrounding area.

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/8/2008 5:51:33 PM | No need to ...24hours bus service in my street and my friends are helpful to my other driving needs. taxi is not bad and walking is my favorite.
I know how to drive...but prefer not to buy a car and not to drive. Just like only having a mobile phone for 2 years...it's not a need for me. Having One 8 year old television is one of those things too. I have tons of jewlery though( Imake them...lol)
I have survived without these things...therefore it is only a want not a need. If my future partner would really insist that i take refresher course why not...it's no big deal but i hate pollution.

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/18/2008 5:44:07 PM | I don't drive. I walk to work , takes about an hour each way, longer in the winter months. Good for a guy like me who enjoys his food :). The Ex is a driver... first time i seen someone break down crying over not having a car to get the groceries home, a short distance away lol. Never thought i would meet a real princess. Made my day :)
having a license is nice, abusing it is not, respecting those around you both on the road and beside it is something i see less and less of. I do know of friends and family with licenses, but try not to bother them unless dire needs arise, if not a taxi should do, but am still young and able and can suck it up and get'er done. Maybe after i turn 50 and the house is paid off i may look into these 'horseless carriages' that is all the rage nowadays.

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/18/2008 6:10:32 PM | | I can drive (with a g2) but my option is to take transit. I don't want to have to deal with traffic all the time. But I do keep my license for those cases where I do have to drive. I'm considering getting zipcar. It's a premium that I can live with :) | |

| Dont Drive ? Posted: 1/19/2008 2:30:05 AM | Well for me seeing as I've been used in the past for my vehicles, I sold my last one back in 04-05. Haven't had one since. It's a hobby and I miss having a car like hell, but the reality is, having a vehicle doesn't make the persons character. I understand if you live in the country and such where there are little to no buses but remember this, real love knows no bounds. Where there's a will there's always a way. I skipped all the profiles that had that clause where the man HAS to have a car, turned me right off (I'm talking about women in the city of Toronto and GTA). I wouldn't care if they had a car or not, besides, I would rather get a kick ass place to live then use that money on something that won't pay me back in the long run.
Just my few at par (close enough) canadian cents
