It used to be fairly common for me to wake up in stages, my clock radio will come on, I think my Right brain would wake up first, and instead of waking the rest of me up, would just take the music and turn it into a music-video. I think it's because I'm neither right nor left brained -they're about equally dominant.
Now, I only bring this up, because my ex always used to claim I'd sex her up while I was asleep. This isn't, strictly speaking, true. I was only half asleep, and I really think that the parts of my brain that control things like inhibition were what were asleep. Basically, the Ego's asleep and the Id is hungry... my ex never complained, near as I can tell that was when I was the most exciting sexually. For those not in the know, your Id is purely pleasure seeking and your Ego is the leash that keeps you from doing stuff that might be socially unacceptable (licking someone else's ice cream cone, for example). I guess with half my brain asleep, I'm not the caring, considerate lover, I'm the sex beast... and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
So, more on topic... I think when a person is totally asleep and you start to stimulate their erogenous zones, you can wake up their Id while the Ego's slumbering. If the Ego would be worrying about if it's acceptable to fantasize about Clown's her Id's wondering how many Clowns can pile into one of those miniature cars and still have enough room for them to sex up her naked body.
