There is an episode of Futurama (sci-fi version of 'the simpsons') which had the main character dating a robot version of Lucy Lu. His friends were horrified, but realised he had never seen the public education films warning people not to.
The basic premise of the film (within the cartoon) was that most human achievement is by men trying to impress women. Once dating robots becomes an option, why should men bother going to work, or maintain minimum standards of personal hygiene, when they can just enjoy the companionship of a partner who would never say no. Society crumbles and the planet is doomed.
It's much funnier than my description, honest.

This could actually be a good thing if combined with ever-faster internet connections and motion sensor technology (wii type thing). If you had a robot lover, which moved as directed by the motion sensors on a body suit your partner was wearing and vice versa, you could take phone sex to a whole new level.
Could be embarrassing if you got a crossed line though.
Though they would technically be Waldoes (tele-operated machinery) rather than robots, Which would open a lot of bad jokes about 'wheres Waldo?'. | |

The scary thing is even with the level of tech we have now its crazy what the sex doll can do. This thing speaks to you can answer simple questions, will even tell you it loves you. Has full working parts (male and female versions) and can be made to look like whoever your fantasy partner is.
The Professor working on this has already got a prototype doll working and says as the technology improves the sex dolls will become more and more autonomous. | |

That's not true, if they were out right now, I would buy one! And... I'm pretty sure I'm not ugly, nor am I isolated to find human romance (I mean, I do get hit on almost every time I go out). LOL, I could get laid tonight at the bar if I wanted to, but... ah... no... I want a lasting relationship and it had better be with someone whom I'm attracted to; if I can't find that person, then it's off to plan B...
The exceptionally gorgeous ones are a bit too difficult to entice, and the easy girls are the ones you would never tell your friends about, so why not f*ck a robot? Like one poster said, a lot of women have sex with a rubber dildo, so why can't a man have sex with silicone woman? | |
