| Why do divorced women have so many dogs? Posted: 1/28/2008 6:22:43 PM | HUH?
They do?
My mum is twice divorced and she only has one cat.
Crap... I better tell her to get her ass down to the pet shop right now and pick up a litter of puppies.
Thanks for that statement of clarity OP!

| Why do divorced women have so many dogs? Posted: 1/28/2008 11:57:56 PM | | I dont have dogs. I have cats and kids. they love me unconditionally. The cats keep my feet warm when they sleep at the foot of my bed. Hey, that's a lot. I love my cats and I love my kids. My cats are my kids too. Cats are people too. Yes???? | |

| Why do divorced women have so many dogs? Posted: 1/29/2008 4:27:48 AM | We discovered dogs are more loyal than men.
I've always been into charity work and animal rescue. There is a severe problem with dogs in Thailand, and I just fell into saving some that stayed on as my pets. When the ex chose to cheat and leave, he was not entitled to the house, car, motorbike, pets, or savings. He wanted to cheat, so he left with the shirt on his back only.
Dogs love unconditionally and the patter of their little feet keeps my household lively and my life happy. I guess you either "get it" or you don't.

| Why do divorced women have so many dogs? Posted: 1/29/2008 5:35:52 AM | I have two dogs and love them both. The oldest is a black lab named Willow and she's extremely loyal and quite the goofball. Willow also has a dog of her own named Ripley. I adopted Willow from the SPCA and it's nice being greeted by another being happy to see you everytime you come home. Willow kept getting ill because she was lonely and had a lot seperation anxiety when I went to work. Hence, I adopted another girlie dog from the SPCA and Willow never got sick again.
I didn't adopt dogs to replace something missing in my life. I've always been a supporter of the SPCA but could never have a pet when I was living in apartments so when I purchased a home I decided it was time to make a commitment and provide unwanted pets with a good home and a good life. They've rewarded me tenfold.

| Why do divorced women have so many dogs? Posted: 1/29/2008 1:17:59 PM | Yeah, it is weird, especially when they post photos of the pooch along with their profile, and say stuff like "love me-love my dog", "must love dogs", or "my dog and I, etc.". And as someone mentioned earlier, the problem's not that they have pets, but that they obviously obsess over them and treat them like a human. Establishing a relationship is difficult enough without having to compete with an ex-husband, ex-boyfriend, or even someone's obsession with their 4-legged "child". So if they're looking for dates, it definitely sends the wrong message .
Also seems to be more common with older women for some reason. Unscientific and just a personal opinion, but it seems to me that the ones with "doggie obsessions" (especially with several), are often pretty self-centered, over-controlled, and basically abrasive types. So even if someone has trouble with human relationships, they key thing about a dog is they'll still love you no matter what.

| Why do divorced women have so many dogs? Posted: 1/29/2008 7:15:47 PM | I'm divorced... no dogs.. but I do have spawn at home still. My mom's GF is divorced, the kids are older and out of the house, and she has a dog.. but she got the dog before the kids left home.
If I could have one where I live, I would... but I can't so I have to be content with the spawn. *sigh* They don't like being taken for walks 'cause I won't let him off leash at the park. Can't understand why tho...
