Myers-Briggs Personality type...if you know it?
Posted: 9/16/2006 8:20:36 AM
Been a while since ive taken the briggs meyers test but i remember fitting into the INFT category.

Feel like an introverted extrovert tho.

Almost joined the clergy a few times til I realised how stupid that wouldve been.
Try not to judge NORMAL people. Substance being key there. (remember judge not lest ye be judged)
Stupid people are easy to judge tho.
Thing is... you have to be able to talk to anyone without the fear of them judging YOU.

Not a lot of people can do that.

Feelings with certain individuals are varied. Some like to feel out loud, or have no problem doing it for whatever reasons. The seemingly UNFEELING types are usually introverted alcoholic types.
Im like that in a way. But i can go up and talk to anyone, politicians, the boss's wife. Whatever. I like expressing myself but seem to crawl into a shell when im hurtn.
When it comes to personal strife, you wont see a lot of me.
When it comes to a passion i have i like being heard.
When it comes to social issues i like making a little noise, enought to be a voice for the ones being silent about them.
WHen it comes to everyday life with everyone say in an elevator first thing in the morning, no problems just chatting up the riders and wishing everyone a good day.
Shouldve been a public representative.
Youd be amazed how people gravitate towards you when they realise you have no problem speaking publicly.

I am INFJ. However, if we are to use this thread a sample, there certainly seems to be alot of INFJ's out there. Although I was too lazy to go through the thread and calculate the numbers excactly, it seems to be a heck of alot more than 2% INFJ.

PrettyPicky ----> I like your black and white photograph of yourself versus the color. I think it really displays your personality, creativity and your desire to be different! Not sure if that means introverted, I don't support labels that constrain our perceptions of ourselves.

ENFP- took the test twice-came out the same both times-think the overall concept is interesting-don't know that I "buy" all theory- although I have used what I learned about personality typing to help me in my businesses. If no one has had the opportunity to take the test, recommend it-if nothing else it can give you insight into why you think and do the way you do.

Apparently I'm a Counselor Idealist (INFJ). Interesting, indeed! Read the description, and it does seem similar to myself. Hrm...

I'm an iSfP - Composer Artisan. Some others who have this personality are Bob Dylan, Neil Simon, Johnny Carson, Mozart, Mel Brooks and Barbra Streisand. Supposedly, only 10 percent of the population is deemed to have the Composer Artisan temperament.

What makes an ISFP tick?
The Dominant function is the judging one of Feeling. Characteristics associated with this function include:

Makes decisions on the basis of personal values
Is appreciative and accepting of people - enjoying company and seeking harmony
Assesses the impact of decisions on others, being sympathetic or compassionate
Takes a personal approach
The judging Feeling function is introverted. That is, Feeling is used primarily to govern the inner world of thoughts and emotions. The ISFP will therefore:

develop an inner emotional life that is often unseen to others, but is experienced as intense
retain a strong sense of values, which are often not expressed
emotionally accept or reject various aspects of life - for example, deciding whether praise or criticism received is valid and, at extreme, ignoring whatever is unacceptable
feel appreciation towards others, but not express it
The Feeling function is primarily supported by extraverted Sensing perception, That is, Sensing perception is used primarily to manage the outer world of actions and spoken words. This will modify the way that the Feeling is directed, by:

focusing the (inner world) Feeling on current relationships and people, e.g.: through one-to-one discussions and fact-based conversation
seeking to enjoy the company of those they know, and being concerned for their well-being and happiness
helping people in practical ways
The classic temperament of an ISFP is Dionesian, or Sanguine, for whom freedom from constraint is a basic driving force - seeking to enjoy the present.

My comments: this is me to a T. I have taken this test 4 times - with the same results.

I've taken this test 4 times, with the same result, over a ~25-yr period.

It's an interesting test, but too many people use it as a wall to personal growth...

I sutdied it pretty hardcore, to the point now that offhand I can usually predict 3 out of 4 times within 5 minutes of meeting them what a person's type is in all four categories... If I know them for a month or more, I have yet to meet someone who stymied me...

BUT there is a difference between those who develop their lesser functions and those who don't... I'm an INTP without a doubt... But in any group where there isn't a facilitator to be a host and introduce people I take that role easily and become the most outgoing, extroverted person there... I'm also much more in touch with and open about my feelings (maybe a result of being a writer) compared to the other INTP's I know...

Those who develop their lesser functions are extremely hard to figure out until you know them a lot better, because they can change to meet their situation so well, being quiet in one group, while being rambunctious in another...

I wish I had the time to really look into how Typology, Astrology, and birth order correlate... Now THAT would be an interesting study.

Not so sure that people use it as a wall to growth.

Most people don't know how to use this insight. Its a tool, a device, that you use with other cognitive behavioral tools, to dig into your weaknesses...but also, to understand the best use of your strengths, and those of others on whom you depend. As with any tool, its utility is defined by experience with its use and in the comprehension of its limitations.

I'm an INTP, the architect type. Considering that I spend most of my spare time alone tinkering with music and waveforms, that makes a lot of sense, actually.

INTJ........said to comprise only a small percentage of the population.....hmmmm. It does seem strikingly accurate. Although I certainly do not feel that my personality "type" defines who I am, it did give me some insight. I've taken the test twice....once 9 yrs ago and again about 2 months ago....results were the same.

I am more or less a WTFLOL myself, but then while I remember taking the test at some point, for some job, I don't recall the results, and don't think I got that job either. So with that said, I don't put much stock in the test results, or the company that is so dependant on its results. To be honest, I would rather be impressed by what you can present about yourself, and seeing if you can pass my test, rather than the result of some test, I didn't write.

Have fun ;)!

<--- INFP. I've taken the test about 20 times since I was probably 15 years old and I'm INFP every time. It describes me with probably 90% accuracy.

INFJ

Results were the same about 15 years apart.

Characteristics:

Intuitive type. Always organized and decisive in implementing a personal vision. Conscientiously commited to firm values. Want to understand what motivates people and are insightful about others. Seeks meaning and connection in ideas and relationships. Clear decision about how to best serve the common good.

One question.

Moi?

Who are they talking about?

Okay, that's two questions but really only one question. You see my point. Dr. Jeckl and Mr. Hyde.

I'm gonna retake the test with the other guy in charge.

INFP..... It is my understanding that many INFP's appear as extroverts to others, but that is because we can perceive and identify with other people's inner lives. We "recharge" alone, though.

Myers-Briggs Personality Type Test
Posted: 10/10/2006 10:07:06 PM
I N T J, which, you'll have to trust me on this, is a Very Good type, = me.
I have done many of these type of tests for a variety of legitimate reasons at different times in my life, and have studied them. They are good tests, however, I Must recommend 'interpretation / explanation' by someone who is well Trained to do so. I also recommend taking 2 - 3 other tests that will show different levels of width and depth of your different types.
Knowing yourself is a Must B-4 you can Really understand others.
